Shemot (Exodus)

Introduction

Introduction to Shemot (The Book of Exodus)

Narrative Framework and Textual Scope

This volume opens the monumental second epic of the Ivri lineage, charting the transition of the family of Ya'akov from an honored patriarchal household into a sovereign, national assembly (am). The text traces the bitter descent into multi-generational servitude under a shifted Egyptian regime, the birth and hidden rescue of Moshe, the supernatural breaking of Mitzrayim's global power, and the terrifying splendor of the divine descent upon mount Sinai. Spanning from the initial seventy-five nefashot who entered Mitzrayim down to the complete assembly watching the cloud fill the newly erected Mishkan (Tabernacle), this presentation restores Hebraic names and ancient terminology, aligning the narrative voice with its proper linguistic inheritance.

Key Thematic Movements

This segment of the Ivri heritage records several of the most foundational developments in cosmic and redemptive history:

1. Oppression, Midwives, and the Birth of Moshe (Chapters 1–4)

The narrative establishes the dramatic shift in Egyptian policy as a new pharaoh arises who deliberately forgets Yosef's geopolitical salvation. The text illuminates the quiet, courageous warfare of the Hebrew midwives, Sepphora and Phua, who defy imperial edicts of infanticide out of reverence for Elohim. Amidst this state-sponsored violence, Moshe is hidden, drawn from the reeds of the river by Pharaoh's daughter, and raised within the palace before a fatal intervention forces him into exile in Midyan. His encounter at the burning bush in Choreb introduces the restoration of the ultimate divine Name, Yahuah, and marks his commission as the emissary of deliverance.

2. The Judgements of Mitzrayim and the Great Escape (Chapters 5–12)

Moshe and Aharon confront the throne of Mitzrayim with a simple, uncompromising demand: "Send My am away." Pharaoh's defiant counter-imposition of grueling labor initiates a series of ten cosmic and physical strikes (otot and moftim). These plagues systematically dismantle the ecological stability and mythological pantheon of the Nile, culminating in the foundational night of the Pesach (Passover). Striking the firstborn of Mitzrayim while protecting the doorposts marked with the dam (blood) of the unblemished lamb, Yahuah drives the sovereign nation forth in a single night.

3. The Wilderness Way and the Victory at Yam Suf (Chapters 13–18)

Led by the perpetual guidance of the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, the departing tribes find themselves trapped between Pharaoh's pursuing cavalry and the waters of the Yam Suf (Red Sea). The subsequent miraculous splitting of the sea and the structural collapse of the waters over the Egyptian army prompt the celebratory Song of Moshe and Miryam. The text then follows the initial trials of the wilderness: the bitter waters made sweet at Marah, the morning provision of Manna raining out of shamayim, the structural reorganization of judicial matters under the advice of Yitro, and the military routing of Amalek at Rephidim.

4. Covenant, Code, and the Blueprint of the Sanctuary (Chapters 19–40)

The final movement centers upon the cosmic rendezvous at Mount Sinai, where the entire nation hears the Aseret HaDibrot (Ten Words) out of the midst of the smoke and fire. This section transitions from the foundational moral statutes into explicit civic judgments (mishpatim) regarding personal property, agricultural rest, and social justice. Following the tragic interlude of the molten calf, the book culminates in a dense, highly precise blueprint for the Mikdash (Sanctuary) and its furniture—including the golden Ark, the Kapporet (lid), the Menorah, and the intricate Begadim Kodesh (Holy Garments) of the priesthood. The text closes as the completed Mishkan is erected on Rosh Chodesh, and the visible glory of Yahuah fills the space, establishing a rhythmic pattern of journeying for the generations to come.

Comparative Manuscript Value

For textual researchers examining ancient lineages, this translation offers a distinct, scannable look into early Hebrew historiography. Rather than relying on late westernized standardizations, it deliberately retains the precise Hebraic vocabulary (such as Kadosh for holy, Beriyt for covenant, and Mishkan for tabernacle) alongside their original structural placement. By using a restored spelling and maintaining internal vocabulary consistency with the books of Bereshit (Genesis) and Yehoshua (Joshua), this entry functions as an invaluable comparative lens for evaluating structural patterns, linguistic shifts, and historical transitions within ancient Near Eastern textual transmission.

Chapter 1

1 These are the names of the sons of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) that came into Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) together with Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב) their father; they came in each with their whole family.
2 Re'uven (רְאוּבֵן), Shim'on (שִׁמְעוֹן), Levi (לֵוִי), Yehudah (יְהוּדָה),
3 Yissakhar (יִשָּׂשכָר), Z'vulun (זְבוּלֻן), Binyamin (בִּנְיָמִין);
4 Dan (דָּן), Naftali (נַפְתָּלִי), Gad (גָּד), Asher (אָשֵׁר).
5 But Yosef (יוֹסֵף) was in Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם). And all the nefashot born of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב) were seventy-five.
6 And Yosef (יוֹסֵף) died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
7 And the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) increased and multiplied, and became numerous and grew exceedingly strong, and the land multiplied them.
8 And there arose up another king over Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), who knew not Yosef (יוֹסֵף).
9 And he said to his nation, "Behold, the race of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) is a great multitude, and is stronger than we:
10 Come then, let us deal craftily with them, lest at any time they be increased, and whenever war shall happen to us, these also shall be added to our enemies, and having prevailed against us in war, they will depart out of the land."
11 And he set over them taskmasters, who should afflict them in their works; and they built strong cities for Pharaoh, both Pitho, and Ramesses, and On, which is Heliopolis.
12 But as they humbled them, by so much they multiplied, and grew exceedingly strong; and the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) greatly abhorred the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל).
13 And the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) tyrannized over the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) by force.
14 And they embittered their life by hard labours, in the clay and in brick-making, and all the works in the plains, according to all the works, wherein they caused them to serve with violence.
15 And the king of the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) spoke to the midwives of the Ivrim (עִבְרִים); the name of the one was Sepphora; and the name of the second, Phua.
16 And he said, "When you do the office of midwives to the Ivrit (עִבְרִית ) women, and they are about to be delivered, if it be a male, kill it; but if a female, save it."
17 But the midwives feared Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and did not as the king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) appointed them; and they saved the male children alive.
18 And the king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) called the midwives, and said to them, "Why is it that you have done this thing, and saved the male children alive?"
19 And the midwives said to Pharaoh, "The Ivrit (עִבְרִית) women are not as the women of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם ), for they are delivered before the midwives go in to them." So they bore children.
20 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) did well to the midwives, and the am multiplied, and grew very strong.
21 And as the midwives feared Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), they established for themselves families.
22 And Pharaoh charged all his am, saying, "Whatever male child shall be born to the Ivrim (עִבְרִים ), cast into the river; and every female, save it alive."

Chapter 2

1 And there was a certain man of the tribe of Levi (לֵוִי), who took as wife one (אֶחָד - echad) of the daughters of Levi (לֵוִי).
2 And she conceived, and bore a male child; and having seen that he was fair, they hid him three (שְׁלֹשָׁה - sheloshah) months.
3 And when they could no longer hide him, his mother took for him an ark, and besmeared it with bitumen, and cast the child into it, and put it in the ooze by the river.
4 And his sister was watching from a distance, to learn what would happen to him.
5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to the river to bathe; and her maids walked by the river's side, and having seen the ark in the ooze, she sent her maid, and took it up.
6 And having opened it, she sees the babe weeping in the ark: and the daughter of Pharaoh had compassion on it, and said, "This is one (אֶחָד - echad) of the Ivri (עִבְרִי) children."
7 And his sister said to the daughter of Pharaoh, "Will you that I call to you a nurse of the Ivrim (עִבְרִים), and shall she suckle the child for you?"
8 And the daughter of Pharaoh said, "Go:" and the young woman went, and called the mother of the child.
9 And the daughter of Pharaoh said to her, "Take care of this child, and suckle it for me, and I will give you the wages;" and the woman took the child, and suckled it.
10 And when the boy was grown, she brought him to the daughter of Pharaoh, and he became her son; and she called his name Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying, "I took him out of the water."
11 And it came to pass in that length of time, that Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) having grown, went out to his brethren the sons of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל): and having noticed their distress, he sees a Mitzri (מִצְרִי) striking a certain Ivri (עִבְרִי) of his brethren the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל).
12 And having looked round this way and that way, he sees no one; and he struck the Mitzri (מִצְרִי), and hid him in the sand.
13 And having gone out the second ( שֵׁנִי - sheni) day he sees two ( שְׁנַיִם - shenayim) Ivri (עִבְרִי) men fighting; and he says to the injurer, "Why smite you your neighbour?"
14 And he said, "Who made you a ruler and a judge over us? will you kill me as you yesterday killed the Mitzri (מִצְרִי)?" Then Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) was alarmed, and said, "If it be thus, this matter has become known."
15 And Pharaoh heard this matter, and sought to kill Moshe (מֹשֶׁה); and Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) departed from the presence of Pharaoh, and lived in the land of Midyan (מִדְיָן); and having come into the land of Midyan (מִדְיָן), he sat on the well.
16 And the kohen of Midyan (מִדְיָן) had seven (שֶׁבַע - sheva) daughters, feeding the flock of their father Yothor (יִתְרוֹ); and they came and drew water until they filled their pitchers, to water the flock of their father Yothor (יִתְרוֹ).
17 And the shepherds came, and were driving them away; and Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) rose up and rescued them, and drew water for them, and watered their sheep.
18 And they came to Raguel (רְעוּאֵל) their father; and he said to them, "Why have you come so quickly today?"
19 And they said, "A Mitzri (מִצְרִי Egyptian) delivered us from the shepherds, and drew water for us and watered our sheep."
20 And he said to his daughters, "And, where is he? and why have you left the man? call him therefore, that he may eat bread."
21 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) was established with the man, and he gave Tzephorah (צִפּוֹרָה) his daughter to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) to wife.
22 And the woman conceived and bore a son, and Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) called his name Gershom (גֵּרְשׁוֹם), saying, "I am a sojourner in a strange land."
23 And in those days after a length of time, the king of Mitzrayim (Egyptians מִצְרַיִם) died; and the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) groaned because of their tasks, and cried, and their cry because of their tasks went up to Yahuah (יהוה).
24 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) heard their groanings, and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) remembered his berit (covenant; בְּרִית) made with Avraham (אַבְרָהָם) and Yitzchak (יִצְחָק) and Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב).
25 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) looked upon the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), and was made known to them.

Chapter 3

1 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) was feeding the flock of Yithor (יִתְרוֹ) his father-in-torah (law; תּוֹרָה), the kohen of Midyan (מִדְיָן); and he brought the sheep near to the wilderness, and came to the mount of Choreb (חֹרֵב).
2 And an angel of Yahuah (יהוה) appeared to him in flaming fire out of the bush, and he sees that the bush burns with fire, but the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) said, "I will go near and see this great sight, why the bush is not consumed."
4 And when Yahuah (יהוה) saw that he drew near to see, Yahuah (יהוה) called him out of the bush, saying, "Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), Moshe (מֹשֶׁה);" and he said, "הִנְנִי" (Hineni - Here I am/What is it?)"
5 And he said, "Draw not near hither: loose your sandals from off your feet, for the place whereon you stand is Kadosh ground."
6 And he said, "I am the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of your father, the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Avraham (אַבְרָהָם), and the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Yitzchak (יִצְחָק), and the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב);" and Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) turned away his face, for he was afraid to gaze at Elohim (אֱלֹהִים).
7 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), "I have surely seen the affliction of my am that is in Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם ) and I have heard their cry caused by their taskmasters; for I know their affliction."
8 "And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Mitzrim ( Egyptians מִצְרִים), and to bring them out of that land, and to bring them into a good and wide land, into a land flowing with milk and honey, into the place of the Kena'anim (כְּנַעֲנִים), and the Chittim (חִתִּים), and the Amorim (אֱמֹרִים), and the Perizzim (פְּרִזִּים), and the Girgashim (גִּרְגָּשִׁים), and the Chivim (חִוִּים), and the Yevusim (יְבוּסִים)."
9 "And now, behold, the cry of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) is come to me, and I have seen the affliction with which the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) afflict them."
10 "And now come, I will send you to Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and you shall bring out my am the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) from the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם)."
11 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) said to Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and that I should bring out the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) from the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם)?"
12 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying, "I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that I shall send you forth—when you bring out my am out of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), then you shall serve Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) in this mountain."
13 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) said to Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), "Behold, I shall go forth to the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), and shall say to them, 'The Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of our fathers has sent me to you;' and they will ask me, 'What is his name?' What shall I say to them?"
14 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying, "I am THE BEING (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה - Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh, I AM THAT I AM);" and he said, "Thus shall you say to the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), THE BEING (אֶהְיֶה – Ehyeh, I AM) has sent me to you."
15 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) said again to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), "Thus shall you say to the sons of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), Yahuah (יהוה) Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of our fathers, the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Avraham (אַבְרָהָם), and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Yitzchak (יִצְחָק), and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב), has sent me to you: this is my name for ever, and my memorial to generations of generations."
16 "Go then and gather the elders of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), and you shall say to them, 'Yahuah (יהוה) Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of our fathers has appeared to me, the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Avraham (אַבְרָהָם), and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Yitzchak (יִצְחָק), and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב), saying, I have surely looked upon you, and upon all the things which have happened to you in Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם).'"
17 "And he said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) to the land of the Kena'anim (כְּנַעֲנִים) and the Chittim (חִתִּים), and Amorim (אֱמֹרִים) and Perizzim (פְּרִזִּים), and Girgashim (גִּרְגָּשִׁים), and Chivim (חִוִּים), and Yevusim (יְבוּסִים), to a land flowing with milk and honey."
18 "And they shall listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) shall go in to Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and you shall say to him, 'The Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of the Ivrim, Hebrews (עִבְרִים) has called us; we will go then a journey of three ( שְׁלֹשָׁה - sheloshah) days into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to our Elohim (אֱלֹהִים).'"
19 "But I know that Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) will not let you go, save with a mighty hand;"
20 "And I will stretch out my hand, and strike the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) with all my wonders, which I shall work amongst them, and after that he will send you forth."
21 "And I will give this am favour in the sight of the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים), and whenever you shall escape, you shall not depart empty."
22 "But every woman shall ask of her neighbour and fellow lodger, articles of gold and silver, and apparel; and you shall put them upon your sons and upon your daughters, and spoil the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים)."

Chapter 4

1 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) answered and said, "If they believe me not, and do not listen to my voice (for they will say, Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) has not appeared to you), what shall I say to them?"
2 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to him, "What is this thing that is in your hand?" And he said, "A rod (matteh - מַטֶּה)."
3 And he said, "Cast it on the ground." And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent (nachash - נָחָשׁ), and Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) fled from it.
4 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), "Stretch forth your hand, and take hold of its tail." So, he stretched forth his hand and took hold of the tail,
5 "And it became a rod (matteh - מַטֶּה) in his hand, that they may believe you, that the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of your fathers has appeared to you, the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Avraham (אַבְרָהָם), and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Yitzchak (יִצְחָק), and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב)."
6 And Yahuah (יהוה) said again to him, "Put your hand into your bosom; and he put his hand into his bosom, and brought his hand out of his bosom, and his hand became as snow."
7 And he said again, "Put your hand into your bosom;" and he put his hand into his bosom, and brought his hand out of his bosom, and it was again restored to the complexion of his other flesh.
8 "And if they will not believe you, nor listen to the voice of the first ( רִאשׁוֹן - rishon) sign, they will believe you because of the voice of the second ( שֵׁנִי - sheni) sign."
9 "And it shall come to pass if they will not believe you for these two ( שְׁנַיִם - shenayim) signs, and will not listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river and pour it upon the dry land, and the water which you shall take from the river shall be blood (dam - דָּם) upon the dry land."
10 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) said to Yahuah (יהוה), "I pray, Yahuah (יהוה), I have not been sufficient in former times, neither from the time that you have begun to speak to your servant: I am weak in speech, and slow-tongued."
11 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), "Who has given a mouth to man, and who has made the very hard of hearing, and the deaf, the seeing and the blind? Have not I, Elohim (אֱלֹהִים)?"
12 "And now go, and I will open your mouth, and will instruct you in what you shall say."
13 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) said, "I pray you, Yahuah (יהוה), appoint another able person whom you shall send."
14 And Yahuah (יהוה) was greatly angered against Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), and said, " Henei (הִנֵּה)! Is not Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) the Levi (לֵוִי) your brother? I know that he will surely speak to you; and, henei (הִנֵּה), he will come forth to meet you, and beholding you he will rejoice within himself."
15 "And you shall speak to him; and you shall put my words into his mouth, and I will open your mouth and his mouth, and I will instruct you in what you shall do."
16 "And he shall speak for you to the am, and he shall be your mouth, and you shall be for him in things pertaining to Elohim (אֱלֹהִים)."
17 "And this rod (matteh - מַטֶּה) that was turned into a serpent (nachash - נָחָשׁ) you shall take in your hand, wherewith you shall work miracles."
18 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) went and returned to Jothor (יִתְרוֹ) his father-in-torah, and says, "I will go and return to my brethren in Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and will see if they are yet living." And Jothor (יִתְרוֹ) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), "Go in shalom (שָׁלוֹם)." And in those days after some time, the king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) died.
19 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) in Midyan (מִדְיָן), "Go, depart into Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), for all that sought your life are dead."
20 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) took his wife and his children, and mounted them on the beasts, and returned to Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם); and Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) took the rod (matteh - מַטֶּה) which he had from Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) in his hand.
21 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), "When you go and return to Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), see—all the miracles I have charged you with, you shall work before Pharao: and I will harden his heart, and he shall certainly not send away the am."
22 "And you shall say to Pharao, 'These things says Yahuah (יהוה), Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) is my firstborn (bechor - בְּכוֹר).'"
23 "And I said to you, Send away my am, that they may serve me: now if you will not send them away, henei (הִנֵּה), I will kill your firstborn (bechor - בְּכוֹר) son."
24 And it came to pass that the angel of Yahuah (יהוה) met him by the way in the inn, and sought to kill him.
25 And Sepphora (צִפּוֹרָה) having taken a stone cut off the foreskin (orlah - עָרְלָה) of her son, and fell at his feet and said, "The blood (dam - דָּם) of the circumcision of my son is staunched."
26 And he departed from him, because she said, "The blood (dam - דָּם) of the circumcision of my son is staunched."
27 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Aharon (אַהֲרֹן), "Go into the wilderness to meet Moshe (מֹשֶׁה);" and he went and met him in the mount of Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and they kissed each other.
28 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) reported to Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) all the words of Yahuah (יהוה), which he sent, and all the things which he charged him.
29 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) went and gathered the elders of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל).
30 And Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) spoke all these words, which Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), and wrought the miracles before the am.
31 And the am believed and rejoiced, because Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) visited the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), and because he saw their affliction: and the am bowed and worshipped.

Chapter 5

1 And after this went in Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) to Pharaoh, and they said to him, “These things says, Yahuah (יהוה) Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל): Send My am away, that they may keep a Chag (חַג - feast) to Me in the wilderness.”
2 And Pharaoh said, “Who is he, Yahuah (יהוה) that I should listen to his voice, so that I should send away the children of Yisra'el? I do not know Yahuah, and I will not let Yisra'el go.”
3 And they say to him, “The Elohim of the Ivrim (עִבְרִים) has called us to Him: we will go therefore a three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to Yahuah our Elohim, lest at any time death or slaughter happen to us.”
4 And the king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) said to them, “Why do you, Moshe and Aharon, turn the am from their works? Depart each of you to your works.”
5 And Pharaoh said, “Behold now, the am is very numerous; let us not then give them rest from their work.”
6 And Pharaoh gave orders to the taskmasters of the am and the accountants, saying,
7 “You shall no longer give straw (teven - תֶּבֶן) to the am for brick-making as yesterday and the third day (Sheloshet Yamim שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים); but let them go themselves, and collect straw for themselves.
8 And you shall impose on them daily the rate of brick-making which they perform: you shall not abate anything, for they are idle; therefore have they cried, saying, ‘Let us arise and do sacrifice to our Elohim.’
9 Let the works of these men be made grievous, and let them care for these things, and not care for vain words.”
10 And the taskmasters and the accountants hastened them, and they spoke to the am, saying, “Thus says Pharaoh: I will give you straw no longer.
11 Go you, yourselves, get for yourselves straw wherever you can find it, for nothing is diminished from your rate.”
12 So, the am were dispersed in all the land of Mitzrayim, to gather stubble for straw.
13 And the taskmasters hastened them, saying, “Fulfil your regular daily tasks, even as when straw was given you.”
14 And the accountants of the race of the children of Yisra'el, who were set over them by the masters of Pharaoh, were scourged, and questioned, saying, “Why have you not fulfilled your rates of brick work as yesterday and the third day (Sheloshet Yamim שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים), today also?”
15 And the accountants of the children of Yisra'el went in and cried to Pharaoh, saying, “Why do you act thus to your servants?
16 Straw is not given to your servants, and they tell us to make brick; and behold your servants have been scourged: you will therefore injure your am.”
17 And he said to them, “You are idle, you are idlers: therefore, you say, ‘Let us go and do sacrifice to our Elohim.’
18 Now then go and work, for straw shall not be given to you, yet you shall return the rate of bricks.”
19 And the accountants of the children of Yisra'el saw themselves in an evil plight, men saying, “You shall not fail to deliver the daily rate of the brick-making.”
20 And they met Moshe and Aharon coming forth to meet them, as they came forth from Pharao.
21 And they said to them, “Yahuah look upon you and judge you, for you have made our savour abominable before Pharaoh, and before his servants, to put a sword (cherev - חֶרֶב) into his hands to kill us.”
22 And Moshe turned to Yahuah, and said, “I pray, Yahuah, why have You afflicted this am? And therefore, have You sent me?
23 For from the time that I went to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has afflicted this am, and You have not delivered Your am.”

Chapter 6

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for he shall send them forth with a mighty hand, and with a high arm (zeroa netuyah - זְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה) shall he cast them out of his land.”
2 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) spoke to Moshe and said to him, “I am Yahuah.”
3 “And I appeared to Avraham (אַבְרָהָם) and Yitzchak (יִצְחָק) and Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב), being their Elohim, but I did not manifest to them My name Yahuah.”
4 “And I established My berit with them, to give them the land of the Kena'anim (כְּנַעֲנִים), the land wherein they sojourned, in which also they lived as strangers.”
5 “And I listened to the groaning of the children of Yisra'el (the affliction with which the Mitzrim enslave them) and I remembered the berit with you.”
6 “Go, speak to the children of Yisra'el, saying, ‘I am Yahuah; and I will lead you forth from the tyranny of the Mitzrim, and I will deliver you from bondage, and I will ransom you with a high arm and great judgement.’”
7 “And I will take you to Me a am for Myself, and will be your Elohim; and you shall know that I am Yahuah your Elohim, who brought you out from the tyranny of the Mitzrim.”
8 “And I will bring you into the land concerning which I stretched out My hand to give it to Avraham, Yitzchak, and Ya'akov, and I will give it you for an inheritance: I am Yahuah.”
9 And Moshe spoke thus to the sons of Yisra'el, and they listened not to Moshe for faint-heartedness (kotzer ruach - קֹצֶר רוּחַ), and for their hard tasks.
10 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying,
11 “Go in, speak to Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim, that he send forth the children of Yisra'el out of his land.”
12 And Moshe spoke before Yahuah, saying, “Behold, the children of Yisra'el listened not to me, and how shall Pharaoh listen to me? And I am not eloquent.”
13 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe and Aharon, and gave them a charge to Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim, that he should send forth the children of Yisra'el out of the land of Mitzrayim.
14 And these are the heads of the houses of their families: the sons of Re'uven (רְאוּבֵן) the firstborn of Yisra'el; Enoch and Phallou, Asron, and Charmi, this is the kindred of Re'uven.
15 And the sons of Shim'on (שִׁמְעוֹן), Jemuel and Jamin, and Aod, and Jachin and Saar, and Saul the son of a Phoenician woman, these are the families of the sons of Shim'on.
16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi (לֵוִי) according to their kindred, Gedson, Caath, and Merari; and the years of the life of Levi were one hundred and thirty-seven.
17 And these are the sons of Gedson, Lobeni and Semei, the houses of their family. And the sons of Caath,
18 Ambram and Issaar, Chebron, and Oziel; and the years of the life of Caath were a hundred and thirty-three years.
19 And the sons of Merari, Mooli, and Omusi, these are the houses of the families of Levi, according to their kindred.
20 And Ambram took as wife Jochabed the daughter of his father's brother, and she bore to him both Aharon and Moshe, and Mariam their sister: and the years of the life of Ambram were a hundred and thirty-two years.
21 And the sons of Issaar, Core, and Naphec, and Zechri.
22 And the sons of Oziel, Misael, and Elisaphan, and Segri.
23 And Aharon took to himself to wife Elisabeth daughter of Aminadab sister of Naasson, and she bore to him both Nadab and Abiud, and Eleazar and Ithamar.
24 And the sons of Core, Asir, and Elkana, and Abiasar, these are the generations of Core.
25 And Eleazar the son of Aharon took to himself for a wife one of the daughters of Phutiel, and she bore to him Phinees. These are the heads of the family of the Levites, according to their generations.
26 This is Aharon and Moshe, whom Elohim told to bring out the children of Yisra'el out of the land of Mitzrayim with their forces.
27 These are they that spoke with Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim, and Aharon himself and Moshe brought out the children of Yisra'el from the land of Mitzrayim,
28 In the day in which Yahuah spoke to Moshe in the land of Mitzrayim;
29 Then Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying, “I am Yahuah: speak to Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim whatever I say to you.”
30 And Moshe said before Yahuah, “Behold, I am not able in speech, and how shall Pharaoh listen to me?”

Chapter 7

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying, “ Henei (הִנֵּה) Behold! I have made you a god to Pharaoh, and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) your brother shall be your navi (נָבִיא - prophet).”
2 “And you shall say to him all things that I charge you, and Aharon your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he should send forth the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) out of his land.”
3 “And I will harden the heart (lev - לֵב) of Pharaoh, and I will multiply My otot (אוֹתֹת - signs) and moftim (מוֹפְתִים - wonders) in the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם).”
4 “And Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will lay My hand upon Mitzrayim; and will bring out My am the children of Yisra'el with My power out of the land of Mitzrayim with great vengeance.”
5 “And all the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) shall know that I am Yahuah, stretching out My hand upon Mitzrayim, and I will bring out the children of Yisra'el out of the midst of them.”
6 And Moshe and Aharon did as Yahuah commanded them, so did they.
7 And Moshe was eighty ( שְׁמוֹנִים - shemonim) years old, and Aharon his brother was eighty-three ( שְׁמוֹנִים וְשָׁלֹשׁ - shemonim veshalosh) years old, when he spoke to Pharaoh.
8 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe and Aharon, saying,
9 “Now if Pharaoh should speak to you, saying, ‘Give us an ot (אוֹת - sign) or a mofet (מוֹפֵת - wonder),’ then shall you say to your brother Aharon, ‘Take your matteh (מַטֶּה - rod) and cast it upon the ground before Pharao, and before his servants, and it shall become a nachash (נָחָשׁ - serpent).’”
10 And Moshe and Aharon went in before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and they did so, as Yahuah commanded them; and Aharon cast down his matteh before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a nachash.
11 But Pharaoh called together the wise men of Mitzrayim, and the sorcerers, and the charmers also of the Mitzrim did likewise with their sorceries.
12 And they cast down each his matteh, and they became nachashim (נְחָשִׁים - serpents), but the matteh of Aharon swallowed up their mattot (מַטּוֹת - rods).
13 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he listened not to them, as Yahuah charged them.
14 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “The heart of Pharaoh is made hard, so that he should not let the am go.”
15 “Go to Pharaoh early in the morning: behold henei (הִנֵּה), he goes forth to the water; and you shall meet him on the bank of the river, and you shall take in your hand the matteh that was turned into a nachash.”
16 “And you shall say to him, ‘Yahuah Elohim of the Ivrim (עִבְרִים) has sent me to you, saying, Send My am away, that they may serve Me in the wilderness, and, Behold henei (הִנֵּה), hitherto you have not listened.’”
17 “These things says Yahuah: ‘Hereby shall you know that I am Yahuah: henei (הִנֵּה), I strike with the matteh that is in my hand on the water which is in the river, and it shall change it into dam (דָּם - blood).’”
18 “And the fish that are in the river shall die, and the river shall stink thereupon, and the Mitzrim shall not be able to drink water from the river.”
19 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Say to your brother Aharon, ‘Take your matteh in your hand, and stretch forth your hand over the waters of Mitzrayim, and over their rivers, and over their canals, and over their ponds, and over all their standing water, and it shall become dam’: and there was dam in all the land of Mitzrayim, both in vessels of wood and of stone.”
20 And Moshe and Aharon did so, as Yahuah commanded them; and Aharon having lifted up his hand with his matteh, struck the water in the river before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and changed all the water in the river into dam.
21 And the fish in the river died, and the river stank thereupon; and the Mitzrim could not drink water from the river, and the dam was in all the land of Mitzrayim.
22 And the charmers also of the Mitzrim did so with their sorceries; and the heart of Pharao was hardened, and he did not listen to them, even as Yahuah said.
23 And Pharaoh turned and entered into his house, nor did he fix his attention even on this thing.
24 And all the Mitzrim dug round about the river, so as to drink water, for they could not drink water from the river.
25 And seven ( שֶׁבַע - sheva) days were fulfilled after Yahuah has struck the river.

Chapter 8

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “Go in to Pharaoh, and you shall say to him, ‘These things says Yahuah: Send forth My am, that they may serve Me.’”
2 “And if you will not send them forth, behold henei (הִנֵּה), I afflict all your borders with tzede'im (צְפַרְדְּעִים - frogs):”
3 “And the river shall teem with tzede'im, and they shall go up and enter into your houses, and into your bed-chambers, and upon your beds, and upon the houses of your servants, and of your am and on your batzek (בָּצֵק - dough), and on your tanurim (תַּנּוּרִים - ovens).”
4 “And upon you, and upon your servants, and upon your am, shall the tzede'im come up.”
5 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Say to Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) your brother, ‘Stretch forth with the hand your matteh (מַטֶּה - rod) over the rivers, and over the canals, and over the agammim (אֲגַמִּים - pools), and bring up the tzede'im.’”
6 And Aharon stretched forth his hand over the waters of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and brought up the tzede'im: and the tzede'ah (צְפַרְדֵּעַ - frog) was brought up, and covered the land of Mitzrayim.
7 And the charmers of the Mitzrim also did likewise with their sorceries, and brought up the tzede'im on the land of Mitzrayim.
8 And Pharaoh called Moshe and Aharon, and said, “Pray for me to Yahuah, and let Him take away the tzede'im from me and from my am; and I will send them away, and they shall sacrifice to Yahuah.”
9 And Moshe said to Pharaoh, “Appoint me a time when I shall pray for you, and for your servants, and for your am, to cause the tzede'im to disappear from you, and from your am, and from your houses, only in the river shall they be left behind.”
10 And he said, “On the morrow.” He said therefore, “As you have said; that you may know, that there is no other Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) but Yahuah.”
11 “And the tzede'im shall be removed away from you, and from your houses and from the villages, and from your servants, and from your am, only in the river they shall be left.”
12 And Moshe and Aharon went forth from Pharaoh, and Moshe cried to Yahuah concerning the restriction of the tzede'im, as Pharaoh appointed him.
13 And Yahuah did as Moshe said, and the tzede'im died out of the houses, and out of the villages, and out of the fields.
14 And they gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.
15 And when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, his heart (lev - לֵב) was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as Yahuah spoke.
16 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Say to Aharon, ‘Stretch forth your matteh with your hand and strike the afar (עָפָר - dust) of the aretz (אֶרֶץ - earth); and there shall be kinnim (כִּנִּים - lice) both upon man, and upon quadrupeds, and in all the land of Mitzrayim.’”
17 So Aharon stretched out his matteh with his hand, and struck the afar of the aretz; and the kinnim were on men and on quadrupeds, and in all the afar of the aretz there were kinnim.
18 And the charmers also did so with their sorceries, to bring forth the kinnim, and they could not. And the kinnim were both on the men and on the quadrupeds.
19 So, the charmers said to Pharaoh, “This is the etzba (אֶצְבַּע - finger) of Elohim.” But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he listened not to them, as Yahuah said.
20 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh: henei (הִנֵּה), he will go forth to the water, and you shall say to him, ‘These things says Yahuah: Send away My am, that they may serve Me in the wilderness.’”
21 “And if you will not let My am go, behold henei (הִנֵּה), I send upon you, and upon your servants, and upon your am, and upon your houses, the arov (עָרֹב - dog-fly); and the houses of the Mitzrim shall be filled with the arov, even throughout the land upon which they are.”
22 “And I will distinguish marvellously in that day the land of Gesem, on which My am dwell, in which the arov shall not be: that you may know that I am Yahuah, the Elohim of all the aretz.”
23 “And I will put a difference between My am and your am, and on the morrow shall this be on the aretz.” And Yahuah did thus.
24 And the arov (עָרֹב - dog-fly) came in abundance into the houses of Pharaoh, and into the houses of his servants, and into all the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם); and the aretz (אֶרֶץ - land) was destroyed by the arov.
25 And Pharaoh called Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן), saying, “Go and sacrifice to Yahuah (יהוה) your Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) in the land.”
26 And Moshe said, “It cannot be so, for we shall sacrifice to Yahuah our Elohim the to'evot (תּוֹעֵבֹת - abominations) of the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים); for if we sacrifice the to'evot of the Mitzrim before them, we shall be stoned.”
27 “We will go a journey of שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים (sheloshet yamim - three days) into the wilderness, and we will sacrifice to Yahuah our Elohim, as Yahuah said to us.”
28 And Pharao said, “I will let you go, and do you sacrifice to your Elohim in the wilderness, but do not go very far away: pray then for me to Yahuah.”
29 And Moshe said, “I then will go forth from you and pray to Elohim, and the arov shall depart both from your servants, and from your am to-morrow. Do not you, Pharaoh, deceive again, so as not to send the am away to do sacrifice to Yahuah.”
30 And Moshe went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to Elohim.
31 And Yahuah did as Moshe said, and removed the arov from Pharaoh, and from his servants, and from his am, and there was not one left.
32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart (lev - לֵב), even on this occasion, and he would not send the am away.

Chapter 9

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “Go in to Pharaoh, and you shall say to him, ‘These things says Yahuah Elohim of the Ivrim (עִבְרִים ): Send My am away that they may serve Me.’”
2 “If, however you will not send My am away, but yet detain them:”
3 “Behold Henei (הִנֵּה), the hand of Yahuah shall be upon your mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle) in the fields, both on the horses, and on the asses, and on the camels and oxen and sheep, a very great dever (דֶּבֶר - mortality).”
4 “And I will make a marvellous distinction in that time between the mikneh [cattle] of the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים), and the mikneh of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל): nothing shall die of all that is of the children's of Yisra'el.”
5 And Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) fixed a limit, saying, “To-morrow Yahuah will do this thing on the aretz (אֶרֶץ - land).”
6 And Yahuah did this thing on the next day, and all the mikneh [cattle] of the Mitzrim died, but of the mikneh of the children of Yisra'el there died not one.
7 And when Pharaoh saw, that of all the mikneh of the children of Yisra'el there died not one, the heart (lev - לֵב) of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the am go.
8 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן), saying, “Take you handfuls of apher (אֵפֶר - ashes) of the furnace, and let Moshe scatter it towards shamayim (שָׁמַיִם - heaven) before Pharaoh, and before his servants.”
9 “And let it become abaq (אָבָק - dust) over all the land of Mitzrayim, and there shall be upon men and upon beasts shechin (שְׁחִין - sore blains) breaking forth both on men and on beasts, in all the land of Mitzrayim.”
10 So, he took of the aphe [ashes] of the furnace before Pharaoh, and Moshe scattered it towards shamayim, and it became shechin [sore blains] breaking forth both on men and on beasts.
11 And the sorcerers could not stand before Moshe because of the shechin, for the shechin were on the sorcerers, and in all the land of Mitzrayim.
12 And Yahuah hardened Pharaoh's lev, and he listened not to them, as Yahuah appointed.
13 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; and you shall say to him, ‘These things says Yahuah Elohim of the Ivrim [Hebrews]: Send away My am that they may serve Me.’”
14 “For at this present time do I send forth all My plagues into your heart, and the heart of your servants and of your am; that you may know that there is not another such as I in all the aretz [Aretz].”
15 “For now, I will stretch forth My hand and strike you and kill your am, and you shall be consumed from off the aretz [Aretz].”
16 “And for this purpose, have you been preserved, that I might display in you My strength, and that My name might be published in all the aretz[Aretz].”
17 “Do you then yet exert yourself to hinder My am, so as not to let them go?”
18 “ Henei ( [behold] הִנֵּה), to-morrow at this hour I will rain a very great barad (בָּרָד - hail), such as has not been in Mitzrayim, from the time it was created until this day.”
19 “Now then hasten to gather your mikneh [cattle], and all that you have in the fields; for all the men and mikneh as many as shall be found in the fields, and shall not enter into a house, (but the barad [hail] shall fall upon them,) shall die.”
20 He of the servants of Pharaoh that feared the word of Yahuah, gathered his mikneh[cattle] into the houses.
21 And he that did not attend in his mind to the word of Yahuah, left the mikneh[cattle] in the fields.
22 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Stretch out your hand to shamayim, and there shall be barad on all the land of Mitzrayim, both on the men and on the mikneh, and on all the esev (עֵשֶׂב - herbage) on the aretz.”
23 And Moshe stretched forth his hand to shamayim, and Yahuah sent thunderings and barad; and the fire ran along upon the ground, and Yahuah rained barad on all the land of Mitzrayim.
24 So there was barad and flaming fire mingled with barad; and the barad was very great, such as was not in Mitzrayim, from the time there was a nation upon it.
25 And the barad struck in all the land of Mitzrayim both man and beast, and the barad struck all the grass in the field, and the barad broke in pieces all the trees in the field.
26 Only in the land of Gesem (Goshen) where the children of Yisra'el were, the barad was not.
27 And Pharaoh sent and called Moshe and Aharon, and said to them, “I have sinned this time: Yahuah is righteous, and I and my am are wicked.”
28 “Pray then for me to Yahuah, and let Him cause the thunderings of Elohim to cease, and the barad and the fire, and I will send you forth and you shall remain no longer.”
29 And Moshe said to him, “When I shall have departed from the city, I will stretch out my hands to Yahuah, and the thunderings shall cease, and the barad and the rain shall be no longer, that you may know that the aretz[Aretz] is Yahuah's.”
30 “But as for you and your servants, I know that you have not yet feared Yahuah.”
31 And the flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was advanced, and the flax was seeding.
32 But the wheat and the rye were not struck, for they were late.
33 And Moshe went forth from Pharaoh out of the city, and stretched out his hands to Yahuah, and the thunders ceased and the barad [hail], and the rain did not drop on the aretz.
34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the barad and the thunders ceased, he continued to sin; and he hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants.
35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not send forth the children of Yisra'el, as Yahuah said to Moshe.

Chapter 10

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying, “Go in to Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart (lev - לֵב) and the heart of his servants, that these signs may come upon them; in order
2 That you may relate in the ears of your children, and to your children's children, in how many things I have mocked the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים), and My wonders (moftim - מוֹפְתִים) which I wrought amongst them; and you shall know that I am Yahuah.”
3 And Moshe and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) went in before Pharaoh, and they said to him, “These things says Yahuah Elohim of the Ivrim (עִבְרִים ), ‘How long do you refuse to reverence Me? Send My am away, that they may serve Me.’”
4 “But if you will not send My am away, henei (הִנֵּה) behold, at this hour tomorrow I will bring an abundance of arbeh (אַרְבֶּה - locusts) upon all your coasts.”
5 “And they shall cover the face of the aretz (אֶרֶץ - earth), and you shall not be able to see the aretz; and they shall devour all that is left of the abundance of the aretz, which the barad (בָּרָד - hail) has left you, and shall devour every tree that grows for you on the aretz.”
6 “And your houses shall be filled, and the houses of your servants, and all the houses in all the land of the Mitzrim; things which your fathers have never seen, nor their forefathers, from the day that they were upon the aretz until this day.” And Moshe turned away and departed from Pharaoh.
7 And the servants of Pharaoh say to him, “How long shall this be a snare to us? Send away the men, that they may serve their Elohim (אֱלֹהִים); will you know that Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) is destroyed?”
8 And they brought back both Moshe and Aharon to Pharaoh; and he said to them, “Go and serve Yahuah your Elohim; but who are they that are going with you?”
9 And Moshe said, “We will go with the young and the old, with our sons, and daughters, and sheep, and oxen, for it is a chag (חַג - feast) of Yahuah.”
10 And he said to them, “So let Yahuah be with you: as I will send you away, must I send away your store (little ones) also? See that evil is attached to you.”
11 “Not so, but let the men go and serve Elohim, for this you yourselves seek;” and they cast them out from the presence of Pharaoh.
12 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Mitzrayim, and let the arbeh [locust] come up on the aretz, and it shall devour every herb of the aretz, and all the fruit of the trees, which the barad [hail] left.”
13 And Moshe lifted up his matteh (מַטֶּה - rod) towards shamayim (שָׁמַיִם - heaven), and Yahuah brought a south wind upon the aretz, all that day and all that night: the morning dawned, and the south wind brought up the arbeh,
14 And brought them up over all the land of Mitzrayim. And they rested in very great abundance over all the borders of Mitzrayim. Before them there were not such arbeh, neither after them shall there be.
15 And they covered the face of the aretz, and the aretz was wasted, and they devoured all the herbage of the aretz, and all the fruit of the trees, which was left by the barad [hail]: there was no green thing left on the trees, nor on all the herbage of the field, in all the land of Mitzrayim.
16 And Pharaoh hasted to call Moshe and Aharon, saying, “I have sinned before Yahuah your Elohim, and against you;
17 Pardon therefore my sin yet this time, and pray to Yahuah your Elohim, and let Him take away from me this death.”
18 And Moshe went forth from Pharaoh, and prayed to Elohim.
19 And Yahuah brought in the opposite direction a strong wind from the yam (יָם - sea), and took up the arbeh [locusts] and cast them into the Yam Suf (יַם סוּף - Red Sea), and there was not one arbeh left in all the land of Mitzrayim.
20 And Yahuah hardened the heart (lev - לֵב) of Pharaoh, and he did not send away the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל).
21 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Stretch out your hand to shamayim, and let there be choshech (חֹשֶׁךְ - darkness) over the land of Mitzrayim—choshech that may be felt.”
22 And Moshe stretched out his hand to shamayim, and there was choshech very black, even a storm over all the land of Mitzrayim for שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים (sheloshim yamim - three days).
23 And for שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים (sheloshet yamim - three days) no man saw his brother, and no man rose up from his bed for שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים (sheloshet yamim - three days): but all the children of Yisra'el had light in all the places where they were.
24 And Pharaoh called Moshe and Aharon, saying, “Go, serve Yahuah your Elohim, only leave your sheep and your oxen, and let your store [little ones] depart with you.”
25 And Moshe said, “Nay, but you shall give to us whole burnt offerings and sacrifices, which we will sacrifice to Yahuah our Elohim.”
26 “And our mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle) shall go with us, and we will not leave a hoof behind, for of them we will take to serve Yahuah our Elohim: but we know not in what manner we shall serve Yahuah our Elohim, until we arrive there.”
27 But Yahuah hardened the heart (lev - לֵב) of Pharaoh, and he would not let them go.
28 And Pharaoh says, “Depart from me, beware of seeing my face again, for in what day you shall appear before me, you shall die.”
29 And Moshe says, “You have said, I will not appear in your presence again.”

Chapter 11

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “I will yet bring one makkah (מַכָּה - plague) upon Pharaoh and upon Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and after that he will send you forth thence; and whenever he sends you forth with everything, he will indeed drive you out.”
2 “Speak therefore secretly in the ears of the am, and let every one ask of his neighbour jewels of silver (kesef - כֶּסֶף) and gold (zahav - זָהָב), and raiment.”
3 And Yahuah gave His am favour in the sight of the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים), and they lent to them; and the man Moshe was very great before the Mitzrim, and before Pharaoh, and before his servants.
4 And Moshe said, “These things says Yahuah, ‘About midnight I go forth into the midst of Mitzrayim.’”
5 “And every bechor (בְּכוֹר - firstborn) in the land of Mitzrayim shall die, from the bechor of Pharaoh that sits on the throne, even to the bechor of the woman-servant that is by the mill, and to the bechor of all mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle).”
6 “And there shall be a great cry through all the land of Mitzrayim, such as has not been, and such shall not be repeated anymore.”
7 “But amongst all the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) shall not a dog snarl with his tongue, either at man or beast; that you may know how wide a distinction Yahuah will make between the Mitzrim and Yisra'el.”
8 “And all these your servants shall come down to me, and do me reverence, saying, ‘Go forth, you and all the am over whom you preside,’ and afterwards I will go forth.”
9 And Moshe went forth from Pharaoh with wrath. And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, that I may greatly multiply My otot (אוֹתֹת - signs) and moftim (מוֹפְתִים - wonders) in the land of Mitzrayim.”
10 And Moshe and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) wrought all these otot and moftim in the land of Mitzrayim before Pharaoh; and Yahuah hardened the heart (lev - לֵב) of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to send forth the children of Yisra'el out of the land of Mitzrayim.

Chapter 12

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) in the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), saying,
2 “This month (chodesh - חֹדֶשׁ) shall be to you the beginning of months: it is the ראשון (rishon - first) to you amongst the months of the year.”
3 “Speak to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), saying, ‘On the tenth of this month let them take each man a seh (שֶׂה - lamb) according to the houses of their families, every man a seh for his household.’”
4 “And if they be few in a household, so that there are not enough for the seh, he shall take with himself his neighbour that lives near to him—as to the number of nefashot, every one according to that which suffices him shall make a reckoning for the seh.”
5 “It shall be to you a seh unblemished, a male of a year old: you shall take it of the lambs or the kids.”
6 “And it shall be kept by you till the fourteenth of this month, and all the multitude of the congregation of the children of Yisra'el shall kill it towards evening (erev - עֶרֶב).”
7 “And they shall take of the dam (דָּם - blood), and shall put it on the two door-posts, and on the lintel, in the houses in which soever they shall eat them.”
8 “And they shall eat the flesh in this night roast with fire, and they shall eat matzah (מַצָּה - unleavened bread) with merorim (מְרֹרִים - bitter herbs).”
9 “You shall not eat of it raw nor sodden in water, but only roast with fire, the head with the feet and the appurtenances.”
10 “Nothing shall be left of it till the morning, and a bone of it you shall not break; but that which is left of it till the morning you shall burn with fire.”
11 “And thus, shall you eat it: your loins girded, and your sandals on your feet, and your staves in your hands, and you shall eat it in haste. It is a pesach (פֶּסַח - passover) to Yahuah.”
12 “And I will go throughout the land of Mitzrayim in that night, and will strike every bechor (בְּכוֹר - firstborn) in the land of Mitzrayim both man and beast, and on all the gods of Mitzrayim will I execute vengeance: I am Yahuah.”
13 “And the dam shall be for an ot (אוֹת - sign) to you on the houses in which you are, and I will see the dam, and will protect you, and there shall not be on you the plague of destruction, when I strike in the land of Mitzrayim.”
14 “And this day shall be to you a memorial, and you shall keep it a chag (חַג - feast) to Yahuah through all your generations; you shall keep it a chag for a perpetual ordinance.”
15 “Seven days שִׁבְעַת יָמִים (Shiv'at Yamim) you shall eat matzah, and from the first day you shall utterly remove chametz (חָמֵץ - leaven) from your houses: whoever shall eat chametz, that nefesh shall be utterly destroyed from Yisra'el, from the first day until the seventh day.”
16 “And the First Days: יָמִים רִאשׁוֹנִים (Yamim Rishonim) shall be called Kadosh, and the seventh day shall be a Kadosh (Ve-hayom hash-shevi'i mikra-kodesh) convocation to you: you shall do no servile work on them, only as many things as will necessarily be done by every nefesh, this only shall be done by you.”
17 “And you shall keep this commandment, for on this day will I bring out your force out of the land of Mitzrayim; and you shall make this day a perpetual ordinance for you throughout your generations.”
18 “Beginning the fourteenth day of the first month, you shall eat matzah from evening, till the twenty-first day of the month, till evening.”
19 “Seven days chametz shall not be found in your houses; whoever shall eat anything leavened, that nefesh shall be cut off from the congregation of Yisra'el, both amongst the occupiers of the land and the original inhabitants.”
20 “You shall eat nothing leavened, but in every habitation of yours you shall eat matzah.”
21 And Moshe called all the elders of the children of Yisra'el, and said to them, “Go away and take to yourselves a seh according to your kindred, and kill the pesach.”
22 “And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, and having dipped it into some of the dam [blood] that is by the door, you shall touch the lintel, and shall put it upon both door-posts, even of the dam which is by the door; but you shall not go out every one from the door of his house till the morning.”
23 “And Yahuah shall pass by to strike the Mitzrim, and shall see the dam upon the lintel, and upon both the door-posts; and Yahuah shall pass by the door, and shall not suffer the destroyer to enter into your houses to strike you.”
24 “And keep you this thing as an ordinance for yourself and for your children forever.”
25 “And if you should enter into the land, which Yahuah shall give you, as He has spoken, keep this service.”
26 “And it shall come to pass, if your sons say to you, ‘What is this service?’”
27 “That you shall say to them, ‘This Pesach (פֶּסַח) is a sacrifice to Yahuah, as He defended the houses of the children of Yisra'el in Mitzrayim, when He struck the Mitzrim, but delivered our houses.’” And the am bowed and worshipped.
28 And the children of Yisra'el departed and did as Yahuah commanded Moshe and Aharon, so did they.
29 And it came to pass at midnight that Yahuah struck all the bechor [firstborn] in the land of Mitzrayim, from the bechor of Pharaoh that sat on the throne, to the bechor of the captive-maid in the dungeon, and the bechor of all mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle).
30 And Pharaoh rose up by night, and his servants, and all the Mitzrim; and there was a great cry in all the land of Mitzrayim, for there was not a house in which there was not one dead.
31 And Pharaoh called Moshe and Aharon by night, and said to them, “Rise and depart from my am, both you and the children of Yisra'el. Go and serve Yahuah your Elohim, even as you say.”
32 “And take with you your sheep, and your oxen: bless me also, I pray you.”
33 And the Mitzrim constrained the am, so that they cast them out of the land with haste, for they said, “We all shall die.”
34 And the am took their batzek (בָּצֵק - dough) before their meal was leavened, bound up as it was in their garments, on their shoulders.
35 And the children of Yisra'el did as Moshe commanded them, and they asked of the Mitzrim articles of silver and gold and apparel.
36 And Yahuah gave His am favour in the sight of the Mitzrim, and they lent to them; and they spoiled the Mitzrim.
37 And the children of Yisra'el departed from Ramesses to Succoth, to the full number of six hundred thousand footmen, even men, besides the baggage.
38 And a great mixed company went up with them, and sheep and oxen and very much mikneh.
39 And they baked the batzek which they brought out of Mitzrayim, matzah cakes, for it had not been leavened; for the Mitzrim cast them out, and they could not remain, neither did they prepare provision for themselves for the journey.
40 And the sojourning of the children of Yisra'el, while they sojourned in the land of Mitzrayim and the land of Kena'an (כְּנַעַן), was four hundred and thirty years.
41 And it came to pass after the four hundred and thirty years, all the forces of Yahuah came forth out of the land of Mitzrayim by night.
42 It is a watch kept to Yahuah, so that He should bring them out of the land of Mitzrayim; that very night is a watch kept to Yahuah, so that it should be to all the children of Yisra'el to their generations.
43 And Yahuah said to Moshe and Aharon, “This is the Torah [תּוֹרָה torah] of the pesach: no stranger shall eat of it.”
44 “And every slave or servant bought with money—him you shall circumcise, and then shall he eat of it.”
45 “A sojourner or hireling shall not eat of it.”
46 “In one house shall it be eaten, and you shall not carry of the flesh out from the house; and a bone of it you shall not break.”
47 “All the congregation of the children of Yisra'el shall keep it.”
48 “And if any proselyte Ger (גֵּר) shall come to you to keep the pesach to Yahuah, you shall circumcise every male of him, and then shall he approach to sacrifice it, and he shall be even as the original inhabitant of the land; no uncircumcised person shall eat of it.”
49 “There shall be one torah [Torah תּוֹרָה] to the native, and to the proselyte (ger - גֵּר) coming amongst you.”
50 And the children of Yisra'el did as Yahuah commanded Moshe and Aharon for them, so they did.
51 And it came to pass in that day that Yahuah brought out the children of Yisra'el from the land of Mitzrayim with their forces.

Chapter 13

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying,
2 “Sanctify to Me every bechor (בְּכוֹר - firstborn), first produced, opening every womb amongst the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) both of man and beast: it is Mine.”
3 And Moshe said to the am, “Remember this day, in which you came forth out of the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), out of the house of bondage, for with a strong hand Yahuah brought you forth thence; and chametz (חָמֵץ - leaven) shall not be eaten.”
4 “For on this day you go forth in the month of aviv (אָבִיב - new corn/spring).”
5 “And it shall come to pass when Yahuah your Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) shall have brought you into the land of the Kena'ani (כְּנַעֲנִי), and the Chitti (חִתִּי), and Emori (אֱמֹרִי), and Chivi (חִוִּי), and Yevusi (יְבוּסִי), and Girgashi (גִּרְגָּשִׁי), and Perizzi (פְּרִזִּי), which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall perform this service in this month.”
6 “Six days you shall eat matzah (מַצָּה - unleavened bread), and on the seventh day is a chag (חַג - feast) to Yahuah.”
7 “Seven days shall you eat matzah; nothing leavened shall be seen with you, neither shall you have chametz in all your borders.”
8 “And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, ‘Therefore Yahuah dealt thus with me, as I was going out of Mitzrayim.’”
9 “And it shall be to you a sign upon your hand and a memorial before your eyes, that the Torah (תּוֹרָה) of Yahuah may be in your mouth, for with a strong hand Yahuah Elohim brought you out of Mitzrayim.”
10 “And preserve you this Torah according to the times of the seasons, from year to year.”
11 “And it shall come to pass when Yahuah your Elohim shall bring you into the land of the Kena'ani, as He swore to your fathers, and shall give it you,”
12 “That you shall set apart every offspring opening the womb, the males to Yahuah, every one that opens the womb out of the herds or amongst your mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle), as many as you shall have: you shall sanctify the males to Yahuah.”
13 “Every offspring opening the womb of the ass you shall change for a seh (שֶׂה - lamb); and if you will not change it, you shall redeem it: every firstborn of man of your sons shall you redeem.”
14 “And if your son should ask you hereafter, saying, ‘What is this?’ then you shall say to him, ‘With a strong hand Yahuah brought us out of Mitzrayim, out of the house of bondage.’”
15 “And when Pharaoh hardened his heart so as not to send us away, He killed every bechor (בְּכוֹר - firstborn) in the land of Mitzrayim, both the bechor of man and the bechor of beast; therefore, do I sacrifice every offspring that opens the womb, the males to Yahuah, and every bechor of my sons I will redeem.”
16 “And it shall be for a sign upon your hand, and immovable before your eyes, for with a strong hand Yahuah brought you out of Mitzrayim.”
17 And when Pharaoh sent forth the am, Elohim led them not by the way of the land of the Pelishti (פְּלִשְׁתִּי), because it was near; for Elohim said, “Lest at any time the am repent when they see war, and return to Mitzrayim.”
18 And Elohim led the am round by the way to the wilderness, to the Yam Suf (יַם סוּף - Red Sea): and in the fifth generation the children of Yisra'el went up out of the land of Mitzrayim.
19 And Moshe took the bones of Yosef (יוֹסֵף) with him, for he had solemnly adjured the children of Yisra'el, saying, “Elohim will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones hence with you.”
20 And the children of Yisra'el departed from Succoth, and encamped in Etham (אֵתָם) by the wilderness.
21 And Elohim led them, in the day by a pillar of cloud, to show them the way, and in the night by a pillar of fire.
22 And the pillar of cloud failed not by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, before all the am.

Chapter 14

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying,
2 “Speak to the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), and let them turn and encamp before the village, between Migdol and the sea, opposite Ba'al-Tzefon: before them shall you encamp by the sea.”
3 “And Pharaoh will say to his am, ‘As for these children of Yisra'el, they are wandering in the land, for the wilderness has shut them in.’”
4 “And I will harden the heart (lev - לֵב) of Pharaoh, and he shall pursue after them; and I will be glorified in Pharaoh, and in all his host, and all the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) shall know that I am Yahuah.” And they did so.
5 And it was reported to the king of the Mitzrim that the am had fled: and the heart of Pharaoh was turned, and that of his servants against the am; and they said, “What is this that we have done, to let the children of Yisra'el go, so that they should not serve us?”
6 So Pharaoh yoked his chariots, and led off all his am with himself:
7 Having also taken six hundred chosen chariots, and all the cavalry of the Mitzrim, and rulers over all.
8 And Yahuah hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), and of his servants, and he pursued after the children of Yisra'el; and the children of Yisra'el went forth with a high hand.
9 And the Mitzrim pursued after them, and found them encamped by the sea; and all the cavalry and the chariots of Pharaoh, and the horsemen, and his host were before the village, over against Ba'al-Tzefon.
10 And Pharaoh approached, and the children of Yisra'el having looked up, saw, and the Mitzrim encamped behind them: and they were very greatly terrified, and the children of Yisra'el cried to Yahuah;
11 And said to Moshe, “Because there were no graves in the land of Mitzrayim, have you brought us forth to kill us in the wilderness? What is this that you have done to us, having brought us out of Mitzrayim?”
12 “Is not this the word which we spoke to you in Mitzrayim, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Mitzrim’? For it is better for us to serve the Mitzrim than to die in this wilderness.”
13 And Moshe said to the am, “Be of good courage: stand and see the salvation (yeshu'ah - יְשׁוּעָה) which is from Yahuah, which He will work for us this day; for as you have seen the Mitzrim today, you shall see them again no more forever.”
14 “Yahuah shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
15 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Why do you cry to Me? Speak to the children of Yisra'el, and let them proceed.”
16 “And do you lift up your matteh (מַטֶּה - rod), and stretch forth your hand over the sea, and divide it, and let the children of Yisra'el enter into the midst of the sea on the dry land.”
17 “And behold! I will harden the heart of Pharao and of all the Mitzrim, and they shall go in after them; and I will be glorified upon Pharao, and on all his host, and on his chariots and his horses.”
18 “And all the Mitzrim shall know that I am Yahuah, when I am glorified upon Pharao and upon his chariots and his horses.”
19 And the Angel (mal'ach - מַלְאָךְ) of Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) that went before the camp of the children of Yisra'el removed and went behind, and the pillar of the cloud also removed from before them and stood behind them.
20 And it went between the camp of the Mitzrim and the camp of Yisra'el, and stood; and there was darkness and blackness; and the night passed, and they came not near to one another during the whole night.
21 And Moshe stretched forth his hand over the sea, and Yahuah carried back the sea with a strong south wind all the night, and made the sea dry, and the water was divided.
22 And the children of Yisra'el went into the midst of the sea on the dry land, and the water of it was a wall on the right hand and a wall on the left.
23 And the Mitzrim pursued them and went in after them, and every horse of Pharao, and his chariots, and his horsemen, into the midst of the sea.
24 And it came to pass in the morning watch that Yahuah looked forth on the camp of the Mitzrim through the pillar of fire and cloud, and troubled the camp of the Mitzrim,
25 And bound the axle-trees of their chariots, and caused them to go with difficulty; and the Mitzrim said, “Let us flee from the face of Yisra'el, for Yahuah fights for them against the Mitzrim.”
26 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Stretch forth your hand over the sea, and let the water be turned back to its place, and let it cover the Mitzrim coming both upon the chariots and the riders.”
27 And Moshe stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the water returned to its place towards day; and the Mitzrim fled from the water, and Yahuah shook off the Mitzrim in the midst of the sea.
28 And the water returned and covered the chariots and the riders, and all the forces of Pharao, who entered after them into the sea: and there was not left of them even one.
29 But the children of Yisra'el went along dry land in the midst of the sea, and the water was to them a wall on the right hand, and a wall on the left.
30 So Yahuah delivered Yisra'el in that day from the hand of the Mitzrim, and Yisra'el saw the Mitzrim dead by the shore of the sea.
31 And Yisra'el saw the mighty hand, the things which Yahuah did to the Mitzrim; and the am feared Yahuah, and they believed Elohim and Moshe His servant.

Chapter 15

1 Then sang Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) this song to Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and spoke, saying, “Let us sing to Yahuah (יהוה), for He is very greatly glorified: horse and rider He has thrown into the sea.”
2 “He was to me a helper and protector for yeshu'ah (יְשׁוּעָה - salvation): this is my Elohim and I will glorify Him; my father's Elohim, and I will exalt Him.”
3 “Yahuah bringing wars to nothing, Yahuah is His name.”
4 “He has cast the chariots of Pharaoh and his host into the sea, the chosen mounted captains: they were swallowed up in the Yam Suf (יַם סוּף).”
5 “He covered them with the sea: they sank to the depth like a stone.”
6 “Your right hand, O Elohim, has been glorified in strength; your right hand, O Elohim, has broken the enemies.”
7 “And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces: you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble.”
8 “And by the breath of your anger the water parted asunder; the waters were congealed as a wall, the waves were congealed in the midst of the sea.”
9 “The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I will satisfy my nefesh (נֶפֶשׁ - soul), I will destroy with my sword, my hand shall have dominion.’”
10 “You sent forth your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty water.”
11 “Who is like to You amongst the gods, O Yahuah? Who is like to You? Glorified in holiness, marvelous in glories, doing wonders.”
12 “You stretched forth your right hand, the aretz (אֶרֶץ - earth) swallowed them up.”
13 “You have guided in your righteousness this your am whom you have redeemed, by your strength you have called them into your Kadosh resting-place.”
14 “The nations heard and were angry, pangs have seized on the dwellers amongst the Pelishtim (פְּלִשְׁתִּי).”
15 “Then the princes of Edom (אֱדוֹם), and the chiefs of the Moavites (מוֹאָב) hasted; trembling took hold upon them, all the inhabitants of Kena'an (כְּנַעַן) melted away.”
16 “Let trembling and fear fall upon them; by the greatness of your arm, let them become as stone; till your am pass over, O Yahuah, till this your am pass over, whom you have purchased.”
17 “Bring them in and plant them in the mountain of their inheritance, in your prepared habitation, which You, O Yahuah, have prepared; the sanctuary, O Yahuah, which your hands have made ready.”
18 “Yahuah reigns for ever and ever and ever.”
19 “For the horse of Pharaoh went in with the chariots and horsemen into the sea, and Yahuah brought upon them the water of the sea, but the children of Yisra'el walked through dry land in the midst of the sea.”
20 And Miryam (מִרְיָם) the naviyah (נְבִיאָה - prophetess), the sister of Aharon (אַהֲרֹן), having taken a timbrel in her hand—then there went forth all the women after her with timbrels and dances.
21 And Miryam led them, saying, “Let us sing to Yahuah, for He has been very greatly glorified: the horse and rider has He cast into the sea.”
22 So, Moshe brought up the children of Yisra'el from the Yam Suf, and brought them into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water to drink.
23 And they came to Marah, and could not drink of Marah, for it was bitter; therefore, he named the name of that place, Marah (Bitterness).
24 And the am murmured against Moshe, saying, “What shall we drink?”
25 And Moshe cried to Yahuah, and Yahuah showed him a tree, and he cast it into the water, and the water was sweetened: there He established to him chukim (חֻקִּים - ordinances) and mishpatim (מִשְׁפָּטִים - judgements), and there He proved him,
26 And said, “If you will indeed hear the voice of Yahuah your Elohim, and do things pleasing before Him, and will listen to His mitzvot (מִצְוֹת - commands), and keep all His ordinances, no disease which I have brought upon the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים) will I bring upon you, for I am Yahuah your Elohim that heals you.”
27 And they came to Eylim (אֵילִם), and there were there twelve fountains of water, and seventy stems of palm-trees; and they encamped there by the waters.

Chapter 16

1 And they departed from Eylim (אֵילִם), and all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Eylim and Sinai (סִינַי); and on the fifteenth day, in the second month after their departure from the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם).
2 All the congregation of the children of Yisra'el murmured against Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן).
3 And the children of Yisra'el said to them, “Would we had died struck by Yahuah (יהוה) in the land of Mitzrayim, when we sat by the flesh-pots, and ate bread to satiety! For you have brought us out into this wilderness, to kill all this congregation with hunger.”
4 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Behold, I will rain bread upon you out of shamayim (שָׁמַיִם - heaven): and the am shall go forth, and they shall gather their daily portion for the day, that I may try them whether they will walk in My Torah (תּוֹרָה) or not.”
5 “And it shall come to pass on the sixth day that they shall prepare whatever they have brought in, and it shall be double of what they shall have gathered for the day, daily.”
6 And Moshe and Aharon said to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, “At even you shall know that Yahuah has brought you out of the land of Mitzrayim;”
7 “And in the morning, you shall see the glory of Yahuah, inasmuch as He hears your murmuring against Elohim (אֱלֹהִים); and who are we, that you continue to murmur against us?”
8 And Moshe said, “This shall be when Yahuah gives you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety, because Yahuah has heard your murmuring, which you murmur against us: and what are we? For your murmuring is not against us, but against Elohim.”
9 And Moshe said to Aharon, “Say to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, ‘Come near before Elohim; for He has heard your murmuring.’”
10 And when Aharon spoke to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, and they turned towards the wilderness, then the glory of Yahuah appeared in a cloud.
11 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying,
12 “I have heard the murmuring of the children of Yisra'el: speak to them, saying, ‘Towards evening you shall eat flesh, and in the morning, you shall be satisfied with bread; and you shall know that I am Yahuah your Elohim.’”
13 And it was evening, and quails came up and covered the camp:
14 In the morning it came to pass as the dew ceased round about the camp, that, behold, on the face of the wilderness was a small thing like white coriander seed, as frost upon the aretz (אֶרֶץ).
15 And when the children of Yisra'el saw it, they said one to another, “What is this?” For they knew not what it was; and Moshe said to them,
16 “This is the bread which Yahuah has given you to eat. This is that which Yahuah has appointed: gather of it each man for his family, a homer for each person, according to the number of your nefesh (נֶפֶשׁ - souls), gather each of you with his fellow-lodgers.”
17 And the children of Yisra'el did so, and gathered some much and some less.
18 And having measured the homer full, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that had gathered less had no lack; each gathered according to the need of those who belonged to him.
19 And Moshe said to them, “Let no man leave of it till the morning.”
20 But they did not listen to Moshe, but some left of it till the morning; and it bred worms and stank: and Moshe was irritated with them.
21 And they gathered it every morning, each man what he needed, and when the sun waxed hot it melted.
22 And it came to pass on the sixth day, they gathered double what was needed, two homers for one man; and all the chiefs of the synagogue went in and reported it to Moshe.
23 And Moshe said to them, “Is not this the word which Yahuah spoke? To-morrow is the Shabbat (שַׁבָּת), a Kadosh rest to Yahuah: bake that you will bake, and seethe that you will seethe, and all that is over leave to be laid by for the morrow.”
24 And they left of it till the morning, as Moshe commanded them; and it stank not, neither was there a worm in it.
25 And Moshe said, “Eat that today, for today is a Shabbat to Yahuah: it shall not be found in the plain.”
26 “Six days you shall gather it, and on the seventh day is a Shabbat, for there shall be none on that day.”
27 And it came to pass on the seventh day that some of the am went forth to gather, and found none.
28 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “How long are you unwilling to listen to My commands and My Torah?”
29 “See, for Yahuah has given you this day as the Shabbat, therefore He has given you on the sixth day the bread of two days: you shall sit each of you in your houses; let no one go forth from his place on the seventh day.”
30 And the am kept Shabbat on the seventh day.
31 And the children of Yisra'el called the name of it Manna; and it was as white coriander seed, and the taste of it as a wafer with honey.
32 And Moshe said, “This is the thing which Yahuah has commanded, ‘Fill an homer with manna, to be laid up for your generations; that they may see the bread which you ate in the wilderness, when Yahuah led you forth out of the land of Mitzrayim.’”
33 And Moshe said to Aharon, “Take a golden pot, and cast into it one full homer of manna; and you shall lay it up before Elohim, to be kept for your generations,”
34 As Yahuah commanded Moshe: and Aharon laid it up before the testimony to be kept.
35 And the children of Yisra'el ate manna forty years, until they came to the land; they ate the manna, until they came to the region of Kena'an (כְּנַעַן).
36 Now the homer was the tenth part of three measures.

Chapter 17

1 And all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) departed from the wilderness of Sin, according to their encampments, by the word of Yahuah (יהוה); and they encamped in Rephidim: and there was no water for the am to drink.
2 And the am reviled Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying, “Give us water, that we may drink”; and Moshe said to them, “Why do you revile me, and why tempt you Yahuah?”
3 And the am thirsted there for water, and there the am murmured against Moshe, saying, “Why is this? Have you brought us up out of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם) to kill us and our children and our mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle) with thirst?”
4 And Moshe cried to Yahuah, saying, “What shall I do to this am? Yet a little while and they will stone me.”
5 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Go before this am, and take to yourself of the elders of the am; and the matteh (מַטֶּה - rod) with which you struck the river, take in your hand, and you shall go.”
6 “Behold, I stand there before you come, on the rock in Chorev (חֹרֵב), and you shall strike the rock, and water shall come out from it, and the am shall drink.” And Moshe did so before the sons of Yisra'el.
7 And he called the name of that place, Massah (Temptation) and Merivah (Reviling), because of the reviling of the children of Yisra'el, and because they tempted Yahuah, saying, “Is Yahuah amongst us or not?”
8 And Amalek (עֲמָלֵק) came and fought with Yisra'el in Rephidim.
9 And Moshe said to Yehoshua (יְהוֹשׁוּעַ), “Choose out for yourself mighty men, and go forth and set the army in array against Amalek to-morrow; and, behold, I shall stand on the top of the hill, and the matteh of Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) will be in my hand.”
10 And Yehoshua did as Moshe said to him, and he went out and set the army in array against Amalek, and Moshe and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) and Chur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moshe lifted up his hands, Yisra'el prevailed; and when he let down his hands, Amalek prevailed.
12 But the hands of Moshe were heavy, and they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat upon it; and Aharon and Chur supported his hands one on this side and the other on that, and the hands of Moshe were supported till the going down of the sun.
13 And Yehoshua routed Amalek and all his am with the slaughter of the sword.
14 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Write this for a memorial in a book, and speak this in the ears of Yehoshua; for I will utterly blot out the memorial of Amalek from under shamayim (שָׁמַיִם - heaven).”
15 And Moshe built an mizbeach to Yahuah, and called the name of it, Yahuah Nissi (Yahuah is my Banner/Refuge).
16 For with a secret hand Yahuah wages war upon Amalek to all generations.

Chapter 18

1 And Yitro (יִתְרוֹ) the kohen (כֹּהֵן - priest) of Midyan (מִדְיָן), the father-in-torah of Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), heard of all that Yahuah (יהוה) did to His am Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל); for Yahuah brought Yisra'el out of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם).
2 And Yitro the father-in-torah of Moshe took Tzipporah (צִפּוֹרָה) the wife of Moshe after she had been sent away,
3 And her two sons: the name of the one was Gershom, his father saying, “I was a sojourner in a strange land;”
4 And the name of the second Eliezer, saying, “For the Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) of my father is my helper, and He has rescued me out of the hand of Pharaoh.”
5 And Yitro the father-in-torah of Moshe, and his sons and his wife, went forth to Moshe into the wilderness, where he encamped on the mount of Elohim.
6 And it was told Moshe, saying, “Behold, your father-in-torah Yitro is coming to you, and your wife and two sons with him.”
7 And Moshe went forth to meet his father-in-torah, and did him reverence, and kissed him, and they embraced each other, and he brought them into the tent.
8 And Moshe related to his father-in-torah all things that Yahuah did to Pharaoh and all the Mitzrim for Yisra'el's sake, and all the labour that had befallen them in the way, and that Yahuah had rescued them out of the hand of Pharaoh, and out of the hand of the Mitzrim.
9 And Yitro was amazed at all the good things which Yahuah did to them, forasmuch as He rescued them out of the hand of the Mitzrim and out of the hand of Pharaoh.
10 And Yitro said, “Blessed be Yahuah, because He has rescued them out of the hand of the Mitzrim and out of the hand of Pharaoh.”
11 “Now know I that Yahuah is great above all elohim, because of this, wherein they attacked them.”
12 And Yitro the father-in-torah of Moshe took whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for Elohim, for Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) and all the elders of Yisra'el came to eat bread with the father-in-torah of Moshe before Elohim.
13 And it came to pass after the morrow that Moshe sat to judge the am, and all the am stood by Moshe from morning till evening.
14 And Yitro having seen all that Moshe did to the am, says, “What is this that you do to the am? Therefore, sit you alone, and all the am stand by you from morning till evening?”
15 And Moshe says to his father-in-torah, “Because the am come to me to seek judgement from Elohim.”
16 “For whenever there is a dispute amongst them, and they come to me, I give judgement upon each, and I teach them the chukim (חֻקִּים - ordinances) of Elohim and His Torah (תּוֹרָה).”
17 And the father-in-torah of Moshe said to him, “You do not this thing rightly,”
18 “You will wear away with intolerable weariness, both those and all this am which is with you: this thing is hard, you will not be able to endure it yourself alone.”
19 “Now then listen to me, and I will advise you, and Elohim shall be with you: be you to the am in the things pertaining to Elohim, and you shall bring their matters to Elohim.”
20 “And you shall testify to them the chukim of Elohim and His Torah , and you shall show to them the ways in which they shall walk, and the works which they shall do.”
21 “And do you look out for yourself out of all the am able men, fearing Elohim, righteous men, hating pride, and you shall set over the am captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties, and captains of tens.”
22 “And they shall judge the am at all times, and the too burdensome matter they shall bring to you, but they shall judge the smaller cases; so they shall relieve you and help you.”
23 “If you will do this thing, Elohim shall strengthen you, and you shall be able to attend, and all this am shall come with peace into their own place.”
24 And Moshe listened to the voice of his father-in-torah, and did whatever he said to him.
25 And Moshe chose out able men out of all Yisra'el, and he made them captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and captains of fifties and captains of tens over the am.
26 And they judged the am at all times; and every too burdensome matter they brought to Moshe, but every light matter they judged themselves.
27 And Moshe dismissed his father-in-torah, and he returned to his own land.

Chapter 19

1 And in the third month of the departure of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) out of the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), on the same day, they came into the wilderness of Sinai (סִינַי).
2 And they departed from Rephidim, and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and there Yisra'el encamped before the mountain.
3 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) went up to the mount of Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and Elohim called him out of the mountain, saying, “These things shall you say to the house of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב), and you shall report them to the children of Yisra'el.”
4 “You have seen all that I have done to the Mitzrim (מִצְרִים), and I took you up as upon eagles' wings, and I brought you near to Myself.”
5 “And now if you will indeed hear My voice, and keep My Beriyt (בְּרִית - covenant), you shall be to Me a peculiar am above all nations; for the whole aretz (Earth אֶרֶץ) is Mine.”
6 “And you shall be to Me a royal kohen (כֹּהֵן - priesthood) and a Kadosh nation: these words shall you speak to the children of Yisra'el.”
7 And Moshe came and called the elders of the am, and he set before them all these words, which Elohim appointed them.
8 And all the am answered with one accord, and said, “All things that Elohim has spoken, we will do and listen to:” and Moshe reported these words to Yahuah (יהוה).
9 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Behold! I come to you in a pillar of a cloud, that the am may hear Me speaking to you, and may believe you forever:” and Moshe reported the words of the am to Yahuah.
10 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Go down and solemnly charge the am, and sanctify them today and to-morrow, and let them wash their Begadim [garments].”
11 “And let them be ready against the third day, for on the third day [Yom Shlishi] Yahuah will descend upon mount Sinai before all the am.”
12 “And you shall separate the am round about, saying, ‘Take heed to yourselves that you go not up into the mountain, nor touch any part of it: every one that touches the mountain shall surely die.’”
13 “A hand shall not touch it, for every one that touches shall be stoned with stones or shot through with a dart, whether beast or whether man, it shall not live: when the voices and trumpets and cloud depart from off the mountain, they shall come up on the mountain.”
14 And Moshe went down from the mountain to the am, and sanctified them, and they washed their Begadim [Garment / Robe (or clothing/garments].
15 And he said to the am, “Be ready: for three days come not near to a woman.”
16 And it came to pass on the third day [Yom Shlishi], as the morning drew near, there were voices and lightnings and a dark cloud on mount Sinai: the voice of the trumpet sounded loud, and all the am in the camp trembled.
17 And Moshe led the am forth out of the camp to meet Elohim, and they stood by under the camp.
18 The mount of Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because Elohim had descended upon it in fire; and the smoke went up as the smoke of a furnace, and the am were exceedingly amazed.
19 And the sounds of the trumpet were waxing very much louder. Moshe spoke, and Elohim answered him with a voice.
20 And Yahuah came down upon mount Sinai on the top of the mountain; and Yahuah called Moshe to the top of the mountain, and Moshe went up.
21 And Elohim spoke to Moshe, saying, “Go down, and solemnly charge the am, lest at any time they draw near to Elohim to gaze, and a multitude of them fall.”
22 “And let the kohanim (כֹּהֲנִים - priests) that draw near to Yahuah Elohim sanctify themselves, lest He destroy some of them.”
23 And Moshe said to Elohim, “The am will not be able to approach to the mount of Sinai, for You have solemnly charged us, saying, ‘Set bounds to the mountain and sanctify it.’”
24 And Yahuah said to him, “Go, descend, and come up you and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) with you; but let not the kohanim and the am force their way to come up to Elohim, lest Yahuah destroy some of them.”
25 And Moshe went down to the am, and spoke to them.

Chapter 20

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke all these words, saying:
2 “I am Yahuah your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), out of the house of bondage.”
3 “You shall not have no other elohim beside Me.”
4 “You shall not make to yourself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the shamayim (שָׁמַיִם) above, and whatever are in the aretz (אֶרֶץ) beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the aretz.”
5 “You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am Yahuah your Elohim, a jealous Elohim, recompensing the avon (עָוֹן - iniquity) of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate Me,”
6 “And bestowing chesed (חֶסֶד - covenant kindness/mercy) on them that love Me to thousands of them, and on them that keep My mitzvot (מִצְוֹת).”
7 “You shall not take the name of Yahuah your Elohim in vain; for Yahuah your Elohim will not acquit him that takes His name in vain.”
8 “Remember the Shabbat (שַׁבָּת) day to keep it kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ).”
9 “Six days you shall labour, and shall perform all your work.”
10 “But on the seventh day is the Shabbat of Yahuah your Elohim; on it you shall do no work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your eved (עֶבֶד - servant) nor your maidservant, your ox nor your ass, nor any mikneh (מִקְנֶה - cattle) of yours, nor the stranger that sojourns with you.”
11 “For in six days Yahuah made the shamayim and the aretz, and the sea and all things in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Yahuah blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.”
12 “Honour your father and your mother, that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the good aretz, which Yahuah your Elohim gives to you.”
13 “You shall not commit adultery.”
14 “You shall not steal.”
15 “You shall not kill.”
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.”
17 “You shall not covet your neighbour's wife; you shall not covet your neighbour's house; nor his field, nor his eved, nor his maid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any of his mikneh, nor whatever belongs to your neighbour.”
18 And all the am perceived the thundering, and the flashes, and the voice of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and all the am feared and stood afar off,
19 And said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “Speak you to us, and let not Elohim speak to us, lest we die.”
20 And Moshe says to them, “Be of good courage, for Elohim is come to you to try you, that His fear may be amongst you, that you sin not.”
21 And the am stood afar off, and Moshe went into the darkness where Elohim was.
22 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Thus shall you say to the house of Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב), and you shall report it to the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), ‘You have seen that I have spoken to you from shamayim.’”
23 “You shall not make to yourselves gods of silver, and gods of gold you shall not make to yourselves.”
24 “You shall make to Me a mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ - altar) of adamah (אֲדָמָה – earth, ground); and upon it you shall sacrifice your olah (עֹלָה - whole burnt offering), and your peace-offerings, and your sheep and your calves in every place where I shall record My name; and I will come to you and bless you.”
25 “And if you will make to Me a mizbeach of stones, you shall not build them hewn stones; for you have lifted up your tool upon them, and they are defiled.”
26 “You shall not go up to My mizbeach by steps, that you may not uncover your nakedness upon it.”

Chapter 21

1 “And these are the mishpatim (מִשְׁפָּטִים - judgements) which you shall set before them.”
2 “If you buy a Hebrew eved (עֶבֶד servant), six years shall he serve you, and in the seventh year he shall go forth free for nothing.”
3 “If he should have come in alone, he shall also go forth alone; and if his wife should have gone in together with him, his wife also shall go out.”
4 “Moreover, if his master gives him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters, the wife and the children shall be his master's; and he shall go forth alone.”
5 “And if the eved should answer and say, ‘I love my master and wife and children, I will not go away free;’”
6 “His master shall bring him to the judgement-seat of Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and then shall he bring him to the door, to the door-post, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.”
7 “And if any one sells his daughter as a domestic, she shall not depart as the avadim [servants עֲבָדִים] depart.”
8 “If she be not pleasing to her master, after she has betrothed herself to him, he shall let her go free; but he is not at liberty to sell her to a foreign nation, because he has trifled with her.”
9 “And if he should have betrothed her to his son, he shall do to her according to the right of daughters.”
10 “And if he take another to himself, he shall not deprive her of necessaries and her apparel, and her companionship with him.”
11 “And if he will not do these three things to her, she shall go out free without money.”
12 “And if any man strike another and he die, let him be certainly put to death.”
13 “But as for him that did it not willingly, but Elohim delivered him into his hands, I will give you a place whither the slayer may flee.”
14 “And if any one lie in wait for his neighbour to kill him by craft, and he go for refuge, you shall take him from My mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ) to put him to death.”
15 “Whoever smites his father or his mother, let him be certainly put to death.”
16 “He that reviles his father or his mother shall surely die.”
17 “Whosoever shall steal one of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), and prevail over him and sell him, and he be found with him, let him certainly die.”
18 “And if two men revile each other and strike the one the other with a stone or his fist, and he die not, but be laid upon his bed;”
19 “If the man arise and walk abroad on his staff, he that struck him shall be clear; only he shall pay for his loss of time, and for his healing.”
20 “And if a man strike his eved or his maidservant with a rod, and the party die under his hands, he shall be surely punished.”
21 “But if the servant continue to live a day or two, let not the master be punished; for he is his money.”
22 “And if two men strive and strike a woman with child, and her child be born imperfectly formed, he shall be forced to pay a penalty: as the woman's husband may lay upon him, he shall pay with a valuation.”
23 “But if it be perfectly formed, he shall give life for life,”
24 “Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,”
25 “Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.”
26 “And if one strike the eye of his eved [servant], or the eye of his maidservant, and put it out, he shall let them go free for their eye's sake.”
27 “And if he should strike out the tooth of his eved, or the tooth of his maidservant, he shall send them away free for their tooth's sake.”
28 “And if a bull gore a man or woman and they die, the bull shall be stoned with stones, and his flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall be clear.”
29 “But if the bull should have been given to goring in former time, and men should have told his owner, and he have not removed him, but he should have slain a man or woman, the bull shall be stoned, and his owner shall die also.”
30 “And if a ransom should be imposed on him, he shall pay for the ransom of his nefesh (soul נֶפֶשׁ) as much as they shall lay upon him.”
31 “And if the bull gore a son or daughter, let them do to him according to this ordinance.”
32 “And if the bull gore a eved or maidservant, he shall pay to their master thirty Shekels, and the bull shall be stoned.”
33 “And if any one open a pit or dig a cavity in stone, and cover it not, and an ox or an ass fall in there,”
34 “The owner of the pit shall make compensation; he shall give money to their owner, and the dead shall be his own.”
35 “And if any man's bull gore the bull of his neighbour, and it die, they shall sell the living bull and divide the money, and they shall divide the dead bull.”
36 “But if the bull be known to have been given to goring in time past, and they have testified to his owner, and he have not removed him, he shall repay bull for bull, but the dead shall be his own.”

Chapter 22

1 “And if one steals an ox or a sheep, and kill it or sell it, he shall pay five calves for a calf, and four sheep for a sheep.”
2 “And if the thief be found in the breach made by himself and be struck and die, there shall not be blood shed for him.”
3 “But if the sun be risen upon him, he is guilty, he shall die instead; and if a thief have nothing, let him be sold in compensation for what he has stolen.”
4 “And if the thing stolen be left and be in his hand alive, whether ox or sheep, he shall restore them two-fold.”
5 “And if anyone should feed down a field or a vineyard, and should send in his beast to feed down another field, he shall make compensation of his own field according to its produce; and if he shall have fed down the whole field, he shall pay for compensation the best of his own field and the best of his vineyard.”
6 “And if fire have gone forth and caught thorns, and should also set on fire threshing-floors or ears of corn or a field, he that kindled the fire shall make compensation.”
7 “And if any one give to his neighbour money or goods to keep, and they be stolen out of the man's house, if the thief be found he shall repay double.”
8 “But if the thief be not found, the master of the house shall come forward before Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and shall swear that surely, he has not wrought wickedly in regard of any part of his neighbour's deposit,”
9 “According to every injury alleged, both concerning a calf, and an ass, and a sheep, and a Begadim [Garment/garments], and every alleged loss, whatever in fact it may be—the judgement of both shall proceed before Elohim, and he that is convicted by Elohim shall repay to his neighbour double.”
10 “And if any one give to his neighbour to keep a calf or sheep or any beast, and it be wounded or die or be taken, and no one know,”
11 “An oath of Yahuah (יהוה) shall be between both, each swearing that he has surely not at all been guilty in the matter of his neighbour's deposit; and so his master shall hold him guiltless, and he shall not make compensation.”
12 “And if it be stolen from him, he shall make compensation to the owner.”
13 “And if it be seized of beasts, he shall bring him to witness the prey, and he shall not make compensation.”
14 “And if any one borrows ought of his neighbour, and it be wounded or die or be carried away, and the owner of it be not with it, he shall make compensation.”
15 “But if the owner be with it, he shall not make compensation: but if it be a hired thing, there shall be a compensation to him instead of his hire.”
16 “And if any one deceive a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her for a wife to himself.”
17 “And if her father positively refuses, and will not consent to give her to him for a wife, he shall pay compensation to her father according to the amount of the dowry of virgins.”
18 “You shall not save the lives of sorcerers.”
19 “Every one that lies with a beast you shall surely put to death.”
20 “He that sacrifices to any elohim but to Yahuah alone, shall be destroyed by death.”
21 “And you shall not hurt a stranger, nor afflict him; for you were strangers in the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם).”
22 “You shall hurt no widow or orphan.”
23 “And if you should afflict them by ill-treatment, and they should cry aloud to Me, I will surely hear their voice.”
24 “And I will be very angry, and will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall be widows and your children orphans.”
25 “And if you should lend money to your poor brother who is by you, you shall not be hard upon him; you shall not exact usury of him.”
26 “And if you take your neighbour's garment for a pledge, you shall restore it to him before sunset.”
27 “For this is his clothing, this is the only covering of his nakedness; wherein shall he sleep? If then he shall cry to Me, I will listen to him, for I am merciful.”
28 “You shall not revile the gods, nor speak ill of the ruler of your am.”
29 “You shall not keep back the first fruits of your threshing floor and press. The bechor (בְּכוֹר - firstborn) of your sons you shall give to Me.”
30 “So, shall you do with your calf and your sheep and your ass; seven days shall it be under the mother, and the eighth day you shall give it to Me.”
31 “And you shall be kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) men to Me; and you shall not eat flesh taken of beasts, you shall cast it to the dog.”

Chapter 23

1 “You shall not receive a vain report: you shall not agree with the unjust man to become an unjust witness.”
2 “You shall not associate with the multitude for evil; you shall not join yourself with a multitude to turn aside with the majority so as to shut out mishpat (מִשְׁפָּט).”
3 “And you shall not spare a poor man in mishpat .”
4 “And if you meet your enemy's ox or his ass going astray, you shall turn them back and restore them to him.”
5 “And if you see your enemy's ass fallen under its burden, you shall not pass by it, but shall help to raise it with him.”
6 “You shall not wrest the sentence of the poor in his mishpat .”
7 “You shall abstain from every unjust thing: you shall not kill the innocent and just, and you shall not justify the wicked for gifts.”
8 “And you shall not receive gifts; for gifts blind the eyes of the seeing, and corrupt just words.”
9 “And you shall not afflict a stranger, for you know the nefesh (soul נֶפֶשׁ) of a stranger; for you were yourselves strangers in the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם).”
10 “Six years you shall sow your aretz (אֶרֶץ), and gather in the fruits of it.”
11 “But in the seventh year you shall let it rest, and leave it, and the poor of your nation shall feed; and the wild beasts of the field shall eat that which remains: thus shall you do to your vineyard and to your oliveyard.”
12 “Six days shall you do your works, and on the seventh day there shall be rest, that your ox and your ass may rest, and that the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.”
13 “Observe all things whatever I have commanded you; and you shall make no mention of the name of other elohim, neither shall they be heard out of your mouth.”
14 “Keep you a moed (מוֹעֵד) to Me three times in the year.”
15 “Take heed to keep the feast of matzah (מַצָּה): seven days you shall eat matzah, as I charged you at the season of the month of aviv (אָבִיב), for in it you came out of Mitzrayim: you shall not appear before Me empty.”
16 “And you shall keep the feast of the harvest of first fruits of your labours, whatever you shall have sown in your field, and the feast of completion at the end of the year in the gathering in of your fruits out of your field.”
17 “Three times in the year shall all your males appear before Yahuah (יהוה) your Elohim.”
18 “For when I shall have cast out the nations from before you, and shall have widened your borders, you shall not offer the blood of My zevach (זֶבַח) with leaven, neither must the fat of My moed abide till the morning.”
19 “You shall bring the first-offerings of the first fruits of your land into the house of Yahuah your Elohim. You shall not seethe a lamb in its mother's milk.”
20 “And, behold, I send My malakh (Angel מַלְאָךְ) before your face, that he may keep you in the way, that he may bring you into the land which I have prepared for you.”
21 “Take heed to yourself and listen to him, and disobey him not; for he will not give way to you, for My name is on him.”
22 “If you will indeed hear My voice, and if you will do all the things I shall charge you with, and keep My Beriyt (בְּרִית), you shall be to Me a peculiar am above all nations, for the whole aretz is Mine; and you shall be to Me a royal kohen (כֹּהֵן) priesthood, and a Kadosh nation: these words shall you speak to the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל).”
23 “For My malakh shall go as your leader, and shall bring you to the Emori, Chitti, Perizzi, Kena'ani, Girgashi, Chivi, and Yevusi, and I will destroy them.”
24 “You shall not worship their elohim, nor serve them: you shall not do according to their works, but shall utterly destroy them, and break to pieces their matzevot (מַצֵּבוֹת altas).”
25 “And you shall serve Yahuah your Elohim, and I will bless your bread and your wine and your water, and I will turn away sickness from you.”
26 “There shall not be on your land one that is impotent or barren. I will surely fulfil the number of your days.”
27 “And I will send terror before you, and I will strike with amazement all the nations to which you shall come, and I will make all your enemies to flee.”
28 “And I will send hornets before you, and you shall cast out the Emori, Chivi, Kena'ani, and Chitti from you.”
29 “I will not cast them out in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the beasts of the field multiply against you.”
30 “By little and little I will cast them out from before you, until you shall be increased and inherit the aretz.”
31 “And I will set your borders from the Yam Suf (יַם סוּף), to the sea of the Pelishtim (פְּלִשְׁתִּי), and from the wilderness to the great river Perat; and I will give into your hand those that dwell in the land, and will cast them out from you.”
32 “You shall make no Beriyt [berit] with them and their elohim.”
33 “And they shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me; for if you should serve their elohim, these will be an offence to you.”

Chapter 24

1 And to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) He said, “Go up to Yahuah (יהוה), you and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) and Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל): and they shall worship Yahuah from a distance.”
2 “And Moshe alone shall draw near to Elohim (אֱלֹהִים); and they shall not draw near, and the am shall not come up with them.”
3 And Moshe went in and related to the am all the words of Yahuah and the mishpatim (מִשְׁפָּטִים); and all the am answered with one voice, saying, “All the words which Yahuah has spoken, we will do and be obedient.”
4 And Moshe wrote all the words of Yahuah; and Moshe rose up early in the morning, and built a mizbeach (altar מִזְבֵּחַ) under the mountain, and set up twelve stones for the twelve tribes of Yisra'el.
5 And he sent forth the young men of the children of Yisra'el, and they offered olah (עֹלָה), and they sacrificed young calves as a peace-offering to Elohim.
6 And Moshe took half the blood and poured it into bowls, and half the blood he poured out upon the mizbeach.
7 And he took the book of the Beriyt (בְּרִית) and read it in the ears of the am, and they said, “All things whatever Yahuah has spoken we will do and listen therein.”
8 And Moshe took the blood and sprinkled it upon the am, and said, “Behold the blood of the Beriyt, which Yahuah has made with you concerning all these words.”
9 And Moshe went up, and Aharon, and Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Yisra'el.
10 And they saw the place where the Elohim of Yisra'el stood; and under His feet was as it were a work of sapphire slabs, and as it were the appearance of the raqia (רָקִיעַ - firmament) of shamayim (שָׁמַיִם) in its purity.
11 And of the chosen ones of Yisra'el there was not even one missing, and they appeared in the place of Elohim, and did eat and drink.
12 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Come up to Me into the mountain, and be there; and I will give you the tables of stone, the Torah (תּוֹרָה) and the mitzvot (מִצְוֹת), which I have written to give them torot (laws; תּוֹרֹת).”
13 And Moshe rose up and Yehoshua (יְהוֹשׁוּעַ) his attendant, and they went up into the mount of Elohim.
14 And to the elders they said, “Rest there till we return to you; and behold, Aharon and Chur are with you: if any man have a cause to be tried, let them go to them.”
15 And Moshe and Yehoshua went up to the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
16 And the glory of Elohim came down upon the mount Sinai (סִינַי), and the cloud covered it six days; and Yahuah called Moshe on the seventh day out of the midst of the cloud.
17 And the appearance of the glory of Yahuah was as burning fire on the top of the mountain, before the children of Yisra'el.
18 And Moshe went into the midst of the cloud, and went up to the mountain, and was there in the mountain forty days and forty nights.

41 “And you shall offer the second lamb in the evening, after the manner of the morning-offering, and according to the drink-offering of the morning lamb; you shall offer it an offering to Yahuah for a sweet smelling savour,”
42 “A perpetual sacrifice throughout your zera (seed/descendants), at the door of the Mishkan of witness before Yahuah; wherein I will be known to you from thence, so as to speak to you.”
43 “And I will there give orders to the children of Yisra'el, and I will be sanctified in My glory.”
44 “And I will sanctify the Mishkan of testimony and the mizbeach , and I will sanctify Aharon and his sons, to minister as kohanim to Me.”
45 “And I will be called upon amongst the children of Yisra'el, and will be their Elohim (אֱלֹהִים).”
46 “And they shall know that I am Yahuah their Elohim, who brought them forth out of the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), to be called upon by them, and to be their Elohim.”

Chapter 30

1 “And you shall make the mizbeach (altar מִזְבֵּחַ) of incense of incorruptible wood.”
2 “And you shall make it a cubit in length, and a cubit in breadth: it shall be square; and the height of it shall be of two cubits, its horns shall be of the same piece.”
3 “And you shall gild its top, and its sides round about, and its horns; and you shall make for it a wreathen border of gold round about.”
4 “And you shall make under its wreathen border two rings of pure gold; you shall make it to the two corners on the two sides, and they shall be bearings for the staves, so as to bear it with them.”
5 “And you shall make the staves of incorruptible wood, and shall gild them with gold.”
6 “And you shall set it before the veil that is over the ark of the testimonies, wherein I will make Myself known to you from thence.”
7 “And Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) shall burn upon it fine compound incense every morning; whenever he trims the lamps he shall burn incense upon it.”
8 “And when Aharon lights the lamps in the evening, he shall burn incense upon it; a constant incense-offering always before Yahuah (יהוה) for their generations.”
9 “And you shall not offer strange incense upon it, nor an offering made by fire, nor a sacrifice; and you shall not pour a drink-offering upon it.”
10 “And once in the year Aharon shall make atonement on its horns, he shall purge it with the blood of purification for their generations: it is most kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) to Yahuah.”
11 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying,
12 “If you take account of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) in the surveying of them, and they shall give everyone a ransom for his nefesh to Yahuah, then there shall not be amongst them a destruction in the visiting of them.”
13 “And this is what they shall give, as many as pass the survey, half a shekel which is according to the shekel of the Mikdash (מִקְדָּשׁ): twenty gerah go to the shekel, but the half of the shekel is the offering to Yahuah.”
14 “Every one that passes the survey from twenty years old and upwards shall give the offering to Yahuah.”
15 “The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than the half shekel in giving the offering to Yahuah, to make atonement for your nefashot.”
16 “And you shall take the money of the offering from the children of Yisra'el, and shall give it for the service of the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן) of testimony; and it shall be to the children of Yisra'el a memorial before Yahuah, to make atonement for your nefashot.”
17 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying,
18 “Make a brazen laver, and a brazen base for it, for washing; and you shall put it between the Mishkan of witness and the mizbeach, and you shall pour forth water into it.”
19 “And Aharon and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet with water from it.”
20 “Whenever they shall go into the Mishkan of witness, they shall wash themselves with water, so they shall not die, whenever they advance to the mizbeach to do service and to offer the whole burnt offerings to Yahuah.”
21 “They shall wash their hands and feet with water, whenever they shall go into the Mishkan of witness; they shall wash themselves with water, that they die not; and it shall be for them a perpetual chok (statute), for him and for his zera after him.”
22 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying,
23 “Do you also take sweet herbs, the flower of choice myrrh five hundred shekels, and the half of this two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet smelling cinnamon, and two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet smelling calamus,”
24 “And of cassia five hundred shekels of the Mikdash, and a hin of olive oil.”
25 “And you shall make it a kadosh anointing oil, a perfumed ointment tempered by the art of the perfumer: it shall be a kadosh anointing oil.”
26 “And you shall anoint with it the Mishkan of witness, and the ark of the Mishkan of witness,”
27 “And all its furniture, and the menorah (מְנוֹרָה) and all its furniture, and the mizbeach of incense,”
28 “And the mizbeach of whole burnt offerings and all its furniture, and the table and all its furniture, and the laver.”
29 “And you shall sanctify them, and they shall be most kadosh : every one that touches them shall be hallowed.”
30 “And you shall anoint Aharon and his sons, and sanctify them that they may minister to Me as kohanim (kohanim).”
31 “And you shall speak to the children of Yisra'el, saying, This shall be to you a kadosh anointing oil throughout your generations.”
32 “On man's flesh it shall not be poured, and you shall not make any for yourselves according to this composition: it is kadosh , and shall be holiness to you.”
33 “Whosoever shall make it in like manner, and whoever shall give of it to a stranger, shall be destroyed from amongst his am.”
34 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Take for yourself sweet herbs, stacte, onycha, sweet galbanum, and transparent frankincense; there shall be an equal weight of each.”
35 “And they shall make with it perfumed incense, tempered with the art of a perfumer, a pure kadosh work.”
36 “And of these you shall beat some small, and you shall put it before the testimonies in the Mishkan of testimony, whence I will make Myself known to you: it shall be to you a most kadosh incense.”
37 “You shall not make any for yourselves according to this composition; it shall be to you a kadosh thing for Yahuah.”
38 “Whosoever shall make any in like manner, so as to smell it, shall perish from his am.”

Chapter 31

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying,
2 “Behold, I have called by name Betsal'el the son of Uri, the son of Chur, of the tribe of Yehudah (יְהוּדָה).”
3 “And I have filled him with a Ruach Elohim (divine spirit) of wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge, to invent in every work,”
4 “And to frame works, to labour in gold, and silver, and brass, and blue, and purple, and spun scarlet,”
5 “And works in stone, and for artificers' work in wood, to work at all works.”
6 “And I have appointed him and Oholi'av the son of Achisamakh of the tribe of Dan, and to every one understanding in heart I have given understanding; and they shall make all things as many as I have appointed you,”
7 “The Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן) of witness, and the ark of the Brit (בְּרִית), and the Kapporet that is upon it, and the furniture of the Mishkan ,”
8 “And the mizbachot (mizbechot), and the table and all its furniture,”
9 “And the pure menorah (מְנוֹרָה) and all its furniture, and the laver and its base,”
10 “And Aharon's (אַהֲרֹן) Begadim Kodesh (Kadosh garments) of ministry, and the begadim of his sons to minister to Me as kohanim (kohanim),”
11 “And the anointing oil and the compound incense of the Mikdash (מִקְדָּשׁ); according to all that I have commanded you shall they make them.”
12 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying,
13 “Do you also charge the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), saying, Take heed and keep My Shabbatot (Sabbaths); for they are a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am Yahuah that sanctifies you.”
14 “And you shall keep the Shabbat , because this is kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) to Yahuah for you; he that profanes it shall surely be put to death: everyone who shall do a work on it, that nefesh shall be destroyed from the midst of his am.”
15 “Six days you shall do works, but the seventh day is the Shabbat, a kadosh rest to Yahuah; everyone who shall do a work on the seventh day shall be put to death.”
16 “And the children of Yisra'el shall keep the Shabbat, to observe it throughout their generations.”
17 “It is a perpetual Beryit between Me and the children of Yisra'el, it is a perpetual sign; for in six days Yahuah made the shamayim (Shamayim) and the aretz (Aretz), and on the seventh day He ceased, and rested.”
18 And He gave to Moshe when He left off speaking to him in mount Sinai (סִינַי) the two tables of testimony, tables of stone written upon with the finger of Elohim (אֱלֹהִים).

Chapter 32

1 And when the am saw that Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) delayed to come down from the mountain, the am combined against Aharon (אַהֲרֹן), and said to him, “Arise and make us gods who shall go before us; for this Moshe, the man who brought us forth out of the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם)—we do not know what is become of him.”
2 And Aharon says to them, “Take off the golden ear-rings which are in the ears of your wives and daughters, and bring them to me.”
3 And all the am took off the golden ear-rings that were in their ears, and brought them to Aharon.
4 And he received them at their hands, and formed them with a graving tool; and he made them a molten calf, and said, “These are your gods, O Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), which have brought you up out of the land of Mitzrayim.”
5 And Aharon having seen it built a mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ) before it, and Aharon made proclamation saying, “To-morrow is a feast to Yahuah (יהוה).”
6 And having risen early on the morrow, he offered olah (עֹלָה) and offered a peace-offering; and the am sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
7 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe, saying, “Go quickly, descend hence, for your am whom you brought out of the land of Mitzrayim have transgressed;”
8 “They have quickly gone out of the way which you commanded; they have made for themselves a calf, and worshipped it, and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, O Yisra'el, who brought you up out of the land of Mitzrayim.’”
9 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “I have looked upon this am, and behold, it is a stiff-necked am.”
10 “And now let Me alone, and I will be very angry with them and consume them, and I will make you a great nation.”
11 And Moshe prayed before Yahuah Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), and said, “Therefore, O Yahuah, are You very angry with Your am, whom You brought out of the land of Mitzrayim with great strength, and with Your high arm?”
12 “Take heed lest at any time the Mitzrim speak, saying, ‘With evil intent He brought them out to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from off the Aretz’; cease from Your wrathful anger, and be merciful to the sin of Your am,”
13 “Remembering Avraham (אַבְרָהָם) and Yitzchak (יִצְחָק) and Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב) Your servants, to whom You have sworn by Yourself, and have spoken to them, saying, ‘I will greatly multiply your zera (seed/descendants) as the stars of Shamayim for multitude, and all this land which You spoke of to give to them, so that they shall possess it for ever.’”
14 And Yahuah was prevailed upon to preserve His am.
15 And Moshe turned and went down from the mountain, and the two tables of testimony were in his hands, tables of stone written on both their sides: they were written within and without.
16 And the tables were the work of Elohim, and the writing was the writing of Elohim, written on the tables.
17 And Yehoshua (יְהוֹשׁוּעַ) having heard the voice of the am crying, says to Moshe, “There is a noise of war in the camp.”
18 And Moshe says, “It is not the voice of them that begin the battle, nor the voice of them that begin the cry of defeat, but the voice of them that begin the banquet of wine do I hear.”
19 And when he drew near to the camp, he sees the calf and the dances; and Moshe being very angry cast the two tables out of his hands, and broke them to pieces under the mountain.
20 And having taken the calf which they made, he consumed it with fire, and ground it very small, and scattered it on the water, and made the children of Yisra'el to drink it.
21 And Moshe said to Aharon, “What has this am done to you, that you have brought upon them a great sin?”
22 And Aharon said to Moshe, “Be not angry, my lord, for you know the impetuosity of this am.”
23 “For they say to me, ‘Make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this man Moshe, who brought us out of Mitzrayim, we do not know what is become of him.’”
24 “And I said to them, ‘If any one has golden ornaments, take them off’; and they gave them me, and I cast them into the fire, and there came out this calf.”
25 And when Moshe saw that the am was scattered—for Aharon had scattered them so as to be a rejoicing to their enemies—
26 Then stood Moshe at the gate of the camp, and said, “Who is on the side of Yahuah? Let him come to me.” Then all the sons of Levi came to him.
27 And he says to them, “Thus says Yahuah Elohim of Yisra'el, ‘Put every one his sword on his thigh, and go through and return from gate to gate through the camp, and kill every one his brother, and every one his neighbour, and every one him that is nearest to him.’”
28 And the sons of Levi did as Moshe spoke to them, and there fell of the am in that day to the number of three thousand men.
29 And Moshe said to them, “You have filled your hands this day to Yahuah each one on his son or on his brother, so that blessing should be given to you.”
30 And it came to pass after the morrow had begun, that Moshe said to the am, “You have sinned a great sin; and now I will go up to Elohim, that I may make atonement for your sin.”
31 And Moshe returned to Yahuah and said, “I pray, O Yahuah, this am has sinned a great sin, and they have made for themselves golden gods.”
32 “And now if You will forgive their sin, forgive it; and if not, blot me out of Your book, which You have written.”
33 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “If anyone has sinned against Me, I will blot them out of My book.”
34 “And now go, descend, and lead this am into the place of which I spoke to you: behold, My angel shall go before your face; and in the day when I shall visit I will bring upon them their sin.”
35 And Yahuah struck the am for the making of the calf, which Aharon made.

Chapter 33

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “Go forward, go up hence, you and your am, whom you brought out of the land of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), into the land which I swore to Avraham (אַבְרָהָם), and Yitzchak (יִצְחָק), and Ya'akov (יַעֲקֹב), saying, ‘I will give it to your zera (seed).’”
2 “And I will send at the same time My angel before your face, and he shall cast out the Amorite and the Chettite, and the Pherizite and the Girgashite, and the Hivite, and the Yevusite, and the Kena'anite.”
3 “And I will bring you into a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up with you, because you are a stiff-necked am, lest I consume you by the way.”
4 And the am having heard this grievous saying, mourned in mourning begadim (garments/ apparel).
5 For Yahuah said to the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל), “You are a stiff-necked am; take heed lest I bring on you another plague, and destroy you: now then put off your glorious begadim, and your ornaments, and I will show you what I will do to you.”
6 So, the sons of Yisra'el took off their ornaments and their array at the mount of Chorev (חֹרֵב).
7 And Moshe took his ohel (tent) and pitched it without the camp, at a distance from the camp; and it was called the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן) of testimony: and it came to pass that every one that sought Yahuah went forth to the Mishkan which was without the camp.
8 And whenever Moshe went into the Mishkan without the camp, all the am stood every one watching by the doors of his tent; and when Moshe departed, they took notice until he entered into the Mishkan .
9 And when Moshe entered into the Mishkan , the pillar of the cloud descended, and stood at the door of the Mishkan , and Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) talked to Moshe.
10 And all the am saw the pillar of the cloud standing by the door of the Mishkan , and all the am stood and worshipped every one at the door of his tent.
11 And Yahuah spoke to Moshe face to face, as if one should speak to his friend; and he retired into the camp: but his servant Yehoshua (יְהוֹשׁוּעַ) the son of Nun, a young man, departed not forth from the Mishkan .
12 And Moshe said to Yahuah, “Behold! You say to me, ‘Lead on this am’; but You have not showed me whom You will send with me, but You have said to me, ‘I know you above all, and you have favour with Me.’”
13 “If then I have found favour in Your sight, reveal Yourself to me, that I may evidently see You; that I may find favour in Your sight, and that I may know that this great nation is Your am.”
14 And He says, “I Myself will go before you, and give you rest.”
15 And he says to Him, “If You go not up with us Yourself, bring me not up hence.”
16 “And how shall it be surely known, that both I and this am have found favour with You, except only if You go with us? So both I and Your am shall be glorified beyond all the nations, as many as are upon the Aretz.”
17 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “I will also do for you this thing, which you have spoken; for you have found grace before Me, and I know you above all.”
18 And Moshe says, “Manifest Yourself to me.”
19 And Elohim said, “I will pass by before you with My glory, and I will call by My name, Yahuah, before you; and I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and will have pity on whom I will have pity.”
20 And Elohim said, “You shall not be able to see My face; for no man shall see My face, and live.”
21 And Yahuah said, “Behold, there is a place by Me: you shall stand upon the rock;”
22 “And when My glory shall pass by, then I will put you into a hole of the rock; and I will cover you over with My hand, until I shall have passed by.”
23 “And I will remove My hand, and then shall you see My back parts; but My face shall not appear to you.”

Chapter 34

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) said to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), “Hew for yourself two tables of stone, as also the first were, and come up to Me to the mountain; and I will write upon the tables the words, which were on the first tables, which you broke.”
2 “And be ready by the morning, and you shall go up to the mount Sinai (סִינַי), and shall stand there for Me on the top of the mountain.”
3 “And let no one go up with you, nor be seen in all the mountain; and let not the sheep and oxen feed near that mountain.”
4 And Moshe hewed two tables of stone, as also the first were; and Moshe having arisen early, went up to the mount Sinai, as Yahuah appointed him; and Moshe took the two tables of stone.
5 And Yahuah descended in a cloud, and stood near him there, and called by the name of Yahuah.
6 And Yahuah passed by before his face, and proclaimed, “Yahuah Elohim (אֱלֹהִים), pitiful and merciful, longsuffering and very compassionate, and true,”
7 “And keeping justice and mercy for thousands, taking away iniquity, and unrighteousness, and sins; and He will not clear the guilty; bringing the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and to the children's children, to the third and fourth generation.”
8 And Moshe hasted, and bowed to the Aretz and worshipped;
9 And said, “If I have found grace before You, let my Lord go with us; for the am is stiff-necked: and You shall take away our sins and our iniquities, and we will be Yours.”
10 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Behold, I establish a Beryit (berit) for you in the presence of all your am; I will do glorious things, which have not been done in all the Aretz, or in any nation; and all the am amongst whom you are shall see the works of Yahuah, that they are wonderful, which I will do for you.”
11 “Do you take heed to all things whatever I command you: behold, I cast out before your face the Amorite and the Kena'anite and the Pherizite, and the Chettite, and Hivite, and Girgashite and Yevusite:”
12 “Take heed to yourself, lest at any time you make a Brit with the dwellers on the land, into which you are entering, lest it be to you a stumbling block amongst you.”
13 “You shall destroy their mizbechot (mizbechot), and break in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their groves, and the graven images of their gods you shall burn with fire.”
14 “For you shall not worship strange gods, for Yahuah, a jealous name, is a jealous Elohim;”
15 “Lest at any time you make a Brit with the dwellers on the land, and they go a-whoring after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, and they call you, and you should eat of their feasts,”
16 “And you should take of their daughters to your sons, and you should give of your daughters to their sons; and your daughters should go a-whoring after their gods, and your sons should go a-whoring after their gods.”
17 “And you shall not make to yourself molten gods.”
18 “And you shall keep the feast of matzot: seven days shall you eat matzot, as I have charged you, at the season in the month of new corn; for in the month of new corn you came out from Mitzrayim.”
19 “The males are Mine, everything that opens the womb; every firstborn of oxen, and every firstborn of sheep.”
20 “And the firstborn of an ass you shall redeem with a sheep, and if you will not redeem it you shall pay a price: every firstborn of your sons shall you redeem: you shall not appear before Me empty.”
21 “Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: there shall be rest in seed time and harvest.”
22 “And you shall keep to Me the feast of weeks, the beginning of wheat harvest; and the feast of ingathering in the middle of the year.”
23 “Three times in the year shall every male of yours appear before Yahuah the Elohim of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל).”
24 “For when I shall have cast out the nations before your face, and shall have enlarged your coasts, no one shall desire your land, whenever you may go up to appear before Yahuah your Elohim, three times in the year.”
25 “You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifices with leaven, neither shall the sacrifices of the feast of the Pesach remain till the morning.”
26 “The first fruits of your land shall you put into the house of Yahuah your Elohim: you shall not boil a lamb in his mother's milk.”
27 And Yahuah said to Moshe, “Write these words for yourself, for on these words I have established a Beriyt with you and with Yisra'el.”
28 And Moshe was there before Yahuah forty days, and forty nights; he did not eat bread, and he did not drink water; and he wrote upon the tables these words of the Beriyt, the ten sayings.
29 And when Moshe went down from the mountain, there were the two tables in the hands of Moshe—as then he went down from the mountain, Moshe knew not that the appearance of the skin of his face was glorified, when Elohim spoke to him.
30 And Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) and all the elders of Yisra'el saw Moshe, and the appearance of the skin of his face was made glorious, and they feared to approach him.
31 And Moshe called them, and Aharon and all the rulers of the congregation turned towards him, and Moshe spoke to them.
32 And afterwards all the children of Yisra'el came to him, and he commanded them all things, whatever Yahuah had commanded him in the mount of Sinai.
33 And when he ceased speaking to them, he put a veil on his face.
34 And whenever Moshe went in before Yahuah to speak to Him, he took off the veil till he went out, and he went forth and spoke to all the children of Yisra'el whatever Yahuah commanded him.
35 And the children of Yisra'el saw the face of Moshe, that it was glorified; and Moshe put the veil over his face, till he went in to speak with Him.

Chapter 35

1 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) gathered all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) together, and said, “These are the words which Yahuah (יהוה) has spoken for you to do them.”
2 “Six days shall you perform works, but on the seventh day shall be rest—a kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) Shabbat (Shabbat)—a rest for Yahuah: every one that does work on it, let him die.”
3 “You shall not burn a fire in any of your dwellings on the Shabbat -day; I am Yahuah.”
4 And Moshe spoke to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, saying, “This is the thing which Yahuah has appointed you, saying,”
5 “Take of yourselves an offering for Yahuah: every one that engages in his heart shall bring the first fruits to Yahuah; gold, silver, brass,”
6 “Blue, purple, double scarlet spun, and fine linen spun, and goats' hair,”
7 “And rams' skins dyed red, and skins dyed blue, and incorruptible wood,”
8 “And sardius stones, and stones for engraving for the Ephod and full-length robe.”
9 “And every man that is wise in heart amongst you, let him come and work all things whatever Yahuah has commanded.”
10 “The Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן), and the cords, and the coverings, and the rings, and the bars, and the posts,”
11 “And the ark of the testimony, and its staves, and its Kapporet, and the veil,”
12 “And the curtains of the court, and its posts,”
13 “And the emerald stones,”
14 “And the incense, and the anointing oil,”
15 “And the table and all its furniture,”
16 “And the menorah (מְנוֹרָה) for the light and all its furniture,”
17 “And the mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ) and all its furniture;”
18 “And the Begadim Kodesh (Kadosh garments) of Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) the kohen (kohen), and the begadim (garments) in which they shall do service;”
19 “And the begadim of priesthood for the sons of Aharon and the anointing oil, and the compound incense.”
20 And all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el went out from Moshe. And they brought, they whose heart prompted them, and they to whoever it seemed good in their mind, each an offering:
21 And they brought an offering to Yahuah for all the works of the Mishkan of witness, and all its services, and for all the begadim of the Mikdash (מִקְדָּשׁ).
22 And the men, even every one to whom it seemed good in his heart, brought from the women, even brought seals and ear-rings, and finger-rings, and necklaces, and bracelets, every article of gold.
23 And all as many as brought ornaments of gold to Yahuah, and with whoever fine linen was found; and they brought skins dyed blue, and rams' skins dyed red.
24 And every one that offered an offering brought silver and brass, the offerings to Yahuah; and they with whom was found incorruptible wood; and they brought offerings for all the works of the preparation.
25 And every woman skilled in her heart to spin with her hands, brought spun articles, the blue, and purple, and scarlet and fine linen.
26 And all the women to whom it seemed good in their heart in their wisdom, spun the goats' hair.
27 And the rulers brought the emerald stones, and the stones for setting in the Ephod , and the Choshen ,
28 And the compounds both for the anointing oil, and the composition of the incense.
29 And every man and woman whose mind inclined them to come in and do all the works as many as Yahuah appointed them to do by Moshe—they the children of Yisra'el brought an offering to Yahuah.
30 And Moshe said to the children of Yisra'el, “Behold, Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) has called by name Betsal'el the son of Uri, the son of Chur, of the tribe of Yehudah (יְהוּדָה),”
31 “And has filled him with a Ruach Elohim of wisdom and understanding, and knowledge of all things,”
32 “To labour skilfully in all works of cunning workmanship, to form the gold and the silver and the brass,”
33 “And to work in stone, and to fashion the wood, and to work in every work of wisdom.”
34 “And Elohim gave improvement in understanding both to him, and to Oholi'av the son of Achisamakh of the tribe of Dan.”
35 “And Elohim filled them with wisdom, understanding and perception, to understand to work all the works of the Mikdash , and to weave the woven and embroidered work with scarlet and fine linen, to do all work of curious workmanship and embroidery.”

Chapter 36

1 And Betsal'el (בְּצַלְאֵל) wrought, and Oholi'av (אָהֳלִיאָב) and every one wise in understanding, to whom was given wisdom and knowledge, to understand to do all the works according to the kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) service, according to all things which Yahuah (יהוה) appointed.
2 And Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) called Betsal'el and Oholi'av, and all that had wisdom, to whom Elohim (אֱלֹהִים) gave knowledge in their heart, and all who were freely willing to come forward to the works, to perform them.
3 And they received from Moshe all the offerings, which the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) brought for all the works of the Mikdash (מִקְדָּשׁ) to do them; and they continued to receive the gifts brought, from those who brought them in the morning.
4 And there came all the wise men who wrought the works of the Mikdash , each according to his own work, which they wrought.
5 And one said to Moshe, “The am bring an abundance too great in proportion to all the works which Yahuah has appointed them to do.”
6 And Moshe commanded, and proclaimed in the camp, saying, “Let neither man nor woman any longer labour for the offerings of the Mikdash ”; and the am were restrained from bringing any more.
7 And they had materials sufficient for making the furniture, and they left some besides.
8 And every wise one amongst those that wrought made the begadim (garments) of the kadosh places, which belong to Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) the kohen (kohen), as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
9 And he made the Ephod of gold, and blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined.
10 And the plates were divided, the threads of gold, so as to interweave with the blue and purple, and with the spun scarlet, and the fine linen twined, they made it a woven work;
11 Shoulder-pieces joined from both sides, a work woven by mutual twisting of the parts into one another.
12 They made it of the same material according to the making of it, of gold, and blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined, as Yahuah commanded Moshe;
13 And they made the two emerald stones clasped together and set in gold, graven and cut after the cutting of a seal with the names of the children of Yisra'el;
14 And he put them on the shoulder-pieces of the Ephod , as stones of memorial of the children of Yisra'el, as Yahuah appointed Moshe.
15 And they made the Choshen (breast-plate), a work woven with embroidery, according to the work of the Ephod , of gold, and blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined.
16 They made the Choshen square and double, the length of a span, and the breadth of a span—double.
17 And there was interwoven with it a woven work of four rows of stones, a series of stones, the first row, a sardius and topaz and emerald;
18 And the second row, a carbuncle and sapphire and jasper;
19 And the third row, a ligure and agate and amethyst;
20 And the fourth row a chrysolite and beryl and onyx set roundabout with gold, and fastened with gold.
21 And the stones were twelve according to the names of the children of Yisra'el, graven according to their names like seals, each according to his own name for the twelve tribes.
22 And they made on the Choshen turned wreaths, wreathen work, of pure gold,
23 And they made two golden circlets and two golden rings.
24 And they put the two golden rings on both the upper corners of the Choshen ;
25 And they put the golden wreaths on the rings on both sides of the Choshen , and the two wreaths into the two couplings.
26 And they put them on the two circlets, and they put them on the shoulders of the Ephod opposite each other in front.
27 And they made two golden rings, and put them on the two projections on the top of the Choshen , and on the top of the hinder part of the Ephod within.
28 And they made two golden rings, and put them on both the shoulders of the Ephod under it, in front by the coupling above the connexion of the Ephod .
29 And he fastened the Choshen by the rings that were on it to the rings of the Ephod , which were fastened with a string of blue, joined together with the woven work of the Ephod ; that the Choshen should not be loosed from the Ephod , as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
30 And they made the tunic under the Ephod , woven work, all of blue.
31 And the opening of the tunic in the midst woven closely together, the opening having a fringe round about, that it might not be torn.
32 And they made on the border of the tunic below pomegranates as of a flowering pomegranate tree, of blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined.
33 And they made golden bells, and put the bells on the border of the tunic round about between the pomegranates:
34 A golden bell and a pomegranate on the border of the tunic round about, for the ministration, as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
35 And they made begadim of fine linen, a woven work, for Aharon and his sons,
36 And the pe'er of fine linen, and the mitznefet of fine linen, and the michnesei-bad of fine linen twined;
37 And their girdles of fine linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet spun, the work of an embroiderer, according as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
38 And they made the golden plate, a dedicated thing of the Mikdash, of pure gold;
39 And he wrote upon it graven letters as of a seal, Kodesh LaYahuah (Holiness to Yahuah).
40 And they put it on the border of blue, so that it should be on the mitznefet above, as Yahuah commanded Moshe.

Chapter 37

1 And they made ten curtains for the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן Sanctuary/tabernacle);
2 Of eight and twenty cubits the length of one curtain: the same measure was to all, and the breadth of one curtain was of four cubits.
3 And they made the veil of blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined, the woven work with cherubs.
4 And they put it on four posts of incorruptible wood overlaid with gold; and their capitals were gold, and their four sockets were silver.
5 And they made the veil of the door of the Mishkan of witness of blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined, woven work with cherubs,
6 And their posts five, and the rings; and they gilded their capitals and their clasps with gold, and they had five sockets of brass.
7 And they made the court towards the south; the curtains of the court of fine linen twined, one hundred cubits every way,
8 And their posts twenty, and their sockets twenty;
9 And on the north side one hundred every way, and on the south side one hundred every way, and their posts twenty and their sockets twenty.
10 And on the west side curtains of fifty cubits, their posts ten and their sockets ten.
11 And on the east side curtains of fifty cubits of fifteen cubits behind,
12 And their pillars three, and their sockets three.
13 And at the second back on this side and on that by the gate of the court, curtains of fifteen cubits, their pillars three and their sockets three;
14 All the curtains of the Mishkan of fine linen twined.
15 And the sockets of their pillars of brass, and their hooks of silver, and their capitals overlaid with silver, and all the posts of the court overlaid with silver:
16 And the veil of the gate of the court, the work of an embroiderer of blue, and purple, and spun scarlet, and fine linen twined; the length of twenty cubits, and the height and the breadth of five cubits, made equal to the curtains of the court;
17 And their pillars four, and their sockets four of brass, and their hooks of silver, and their capitals overlaid with silver.
18 And all the pins of the court roundabout of brass, and they were overlaid with silver.
19 And this was the construction of the Mishkan of witness, accordingly as it was appointed to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה); so that the public service should belong to the Levi'im (Levites), through Ithamar the son of Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) the kohen (kohen).
20 And Betsal'el (בְּצַלְאֵל) the son of Uri of the tribe of Yehudah (יְהוּדָה), did as Yahuah (יהוה) commanded Moshe.
21 And Oholi'av (אָהֳלִיאָב) the son of Achisamakh of the tribe of Dan was there, who was chief artificer in the woven works and needle-works and embroideries, in weaving with the scarlet and fine linen.

Chapter 38

1 And Betsal'el (בְּצַלְאֵל) made the ark,
2 And overlaid it with pure gold within and without;
3 And he cast for it four golden rings, two on the one side, and two on the other,
4 Wide enough for the staves, so that men should bear the ark with them.
5 And he made the Kapporet (propitiatory) over the ark of pure gold,
6 And the two cherubs of gold;
7 One cherub on the one end of the Kapporet, and another cherub on the other end of the Kapporet,
8 Overshadowing the Kapporet with their wings.
9 And he made the table of pure gold,
10 And cast for it four rings: two on the one side and two on the other side, broad, so that men should lift it with the staves in them.
11 And he made the staves of the ark and of the table, and gilded them with gold.
12 And he made the furniture of the table, both the dishes, and the censers, and the cups, and the bowls with which he should offer drink-offerings, of gold.
13 And he made the menorah (מְנוֹרָה) which gives light, of gold;
14 The stem solid, and the branches from both its sides;
15 And blossoms proceeding from its branches, three on this side, and three on the other, made equal to each other.
16 And as to their lamps, which are on the ends, knops proceeded from them; and sockets proceeding from them, that the lamps might be upon them; and the seventh socket, on the top of the menorah, on the summit above, entirely of solid gold.
17 And on the menorah seven golden lamps, and its snuffers gold, and its funnels gold.
18 He overlaid the posts with silver, and cast for each post golden rings, and gilded the bars with gold; and he gilded the posts of the veil with gold, and made the hooks of gold.
19 He made also the rings of the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן) of gold; and the rings of the court, and the rings for drawing out the veil above of brass.
20 He cast the silver capitals of the Mishkan , and the brazen capitals of the door of the Mishkan , and the gate of the court; and he made silver hooks for the posts, he overlaid them with silver on the posts.

22 He made the brazen mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ) of the brazen censers, which belonged to the men engaged in sedition with the gathering of Korach (קֹרַח).
23 He made all the vessels of the mizbeach and its grate, and its base, and its bowls, and the brazen flesh hooks.
24 He made an appendage for the mizbeach of network under the grate, beneath it as far as the middle of it; and he fastened to it four brazen rings on the four parts of the appendage of the mizbeach, wide enough for the bars, so as to bear the mizbeach with them.
25 He made the kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) anointing oil and the composition of the incense, the pure work of the perfumer.
26 He made the brazen laver, and the brazen base of it of the mirrors of the women that fasted, who fasted by the doors of the Mishkan of witness, in the day in which he set it up.
27 And he made the laver, that at it Moshe (מֹשֶׁה) and Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) and his sons might wash their hands and their feet: when they went into the Mishkan of witness, or whenever they should advance to the mizbeach to do service, they washed at it, as Yahuah (יהוה) commanded Moshe.

Chapter 39

1 All the gold that was employed for the works according to all the fabrication of the kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ) things, was of the gold of the offerings, twenty-nine talents, and seven hundred and twenty shekels according to the kadosh shekel.
2 And the offering of silver from the men that were numbered of the congregation was one hundred talents, and a thousand and seven hundred and seventy-five shekels, one drachm apiece, even the half-shekel, according to the kadosh shekel.
3 Every one that passed the survey from twenty years old and upwards to the number of six hundred thousand, and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
4 And the hundred talents of silver went to the casting of the hundred capitals of the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן), and to the capitals of the veil;
5 One hundred capitals to the hundred talents, a talent to a chapiter.
6 And the thousand and seven hundred and seventy-five shekels he formed into hooks for the pillars, and he gilt their capitals and adorned them.
7 And the brass of the offering was seventy talents, and a thousand and five hundred shekels;
8 And they made of it the bases of the door of the Mishkan of witness,
9 And the bases of the court round about, and the bases of the gate of the court, and the pins of the Mishkan , and the pins of the court round about;
10 And the brazen appendage of the mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ), and all the vessels of the mizbeach, and all the instruments of the Mishkan of witness.
11 And the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) did as Yahuah (יהוה) commanded Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), so did they.
12 And of the gold that remained of the offering they made vessels to minister with before Yahuah.
13 And the blue that was left, and the purple, and the scarlet they made into begadim (garments) of ministry for Aharon (אַהֲרֹן), so that he should minister with them in the Mikdash (מִקְדָּשׁ);
14 And they brought the begadim to Moshe, and the Mishkan , and its furniture, its bases and its bars and the posts;
15 And the ark of the Beriyt (berit), and its bearers, and the mizbeach and all its furniture.
16 And they made the anointing oil, and the incense of composition, and the pure menorah (מְנוֹרָה),

18 And the table of show-bread, and all its furniture, and the show-bread upon it,
19 And the Begadim Kodesh (Kadosh garments) which belong to Aharon, and the begadim of his sons, for the priestly ministry;
20 And the curtains of the court, and the posts, and the veil of the door of the Mishkan , and the gate of the court,
21 And all the vessels of the Mishkan and all its instruments: and the skins, even rams' skins dyed red, and the blue coverings, and the coverings of the other things, and the pins, and all the instruments for the works of the Mishkan of witness.
22 Whatsoever things Yahuah appointed Moshe, so did the children of Yisra'el make all the furniture.
23 And Moshe saw all the works; and they had done them all as Yahuah commanded Moshe, so had they made them; and Moshe blessed them.

Chapter 40

1 And Yahuah (יהוה) spoke to Moshe (מֹשֶׁה), saying,
2 “On the first day of the first month [Rosh Chodesh רֹאשׁ חֹדֶשׁ], at the new moon, you shall set up the Mishkan (מִשְׁכָּן tabernacle) of witness Edut (עֵדוּת)
3 “And you shall place in it the ark of the testimony, and shall cover the ark with the veil,”
4 “And you shall bring in the table and shall set forth that which is to be set forth on it; and you shall bring in the menorah (מְנוֹרָה) and place its lamps on it.”
5 “And you shall place the golden mizbeach (מִזְבֵּחַ), to burn incense before the ark; and you shall put a covering of a veil on the door of the Mishkan of witness.”
6 “And you shall put the mizbeach of burnt offerings by the doors of the Mishkan of witness,”
7 “And you shall set up the Mishkan round about, and you shall hallow all that belongs to it round about.”
8 “And you shall take the anointing oil, and shall anoint the Mishkan, and all things in it; and shall sanctify it, and all its furniture, and it shall be kadosh (קָדוֹשׁ).”
9 “And you shall anoint the mizbeach of burnt offerings, and all its furniture; and you shall hallow the mizbeach, and the mizbeach shall be most kadosh.”
10 “And you shall bring Aharon (אַהֲרֹן) and his sons to the doors of the Mishkan of witness, and you shall wash them with water.”
11 “And you shall put on Aharon the Begadim Kodesh (Kadosh garments), and you shall anoint him, and you shall sanctify him, and he shall minister to Me as kohen (kohen).”
12 “And you shall bring up his sons, and shall put begadim (garments) on them.”
13 “And you shall anoint them as you did anoint their father, and they shall minister to Me as kohanim; and it shall be that they shall have an everlasting anointing of priesthood, throughout their generations.”
14 And Moshe did all things whatever Yahuah commanded him, so did he.
15 And it came to pass in the first month, in the second year after their going forth out of Mitzrayim (מִצְרַיִם), at the new moon, Rosh Chodesh (רֹאשׁ חֹדֶשׁ) that the Mishkan was set up.
16 And Moshe set up the Mishkan, and put on the capitals, and put the bars into their places, and set up the posts.
17 And he stretched out the curtains over the Mishkan, and put the veil of the Mishkan on it above as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
18 And he took the testimonies, and put them into the ark; and he put the staves by the sides of the ark.
19 And he brought the ark into the Mishkan, and put on it the covering of the veil, and covered the ark of the testimony, as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
20 And he put the table in the Mishkan of witness, on the north side without the veil of the Mishkan.
21 And he put on it the show-bread before Yahuah, as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
22 And he put the menorah into the Mishkan of witness, on the side of the Mishkan towards the south.
23 And he put on it its lamps before Yahuah, as Yahuah had commanded Moshe.
24 And he put the golden mizbeach in the Mishkan of witness before the veil;
25 And he burnt on it incense of composition, as Yahuah commanded Moshe.
26 And he put the mizbeach of the burnt offerings by the doors of the Mishkan.
27 And he set up the court round about the Mishkan and the mizbeach; and Moshe accomplished all the works.
28 And the cloud covered the Mishkan of witness, and the Mishkan was filled with the glory of Yahuah.
29 And Moshe was not able to enter into the Mishkan of testimony, because the cloud overshadowed it, and the Mishkan was filled with the glory of Yahuah.
30 And when the cloud went up from the Mishkan, the children of Yisra'el (יִשְׂרָאֵל) prepared to depart with their baggage.
31 And if the cloud went not up, they did not prepare to depart, till the day when the cloud went up.
32 For a cloud was on the Mishkan by day, and fire was on it by night before all Yisra'el, in all their journeyings.
