Introduction
Introduction to Zecharyah (The Book of Zechariah)
Within the Framework of The Ivri Heritage Bible
The prophetic document presented here, titled Zecharyah (זְכַרְיָה — Yahuah Remembers) and traditionally recognized as the Book of Zechariah, stands as the most textually dense, apocalyptic, and explicitly messianic compilation among the minor prophets within the multi-volume architecture of The Ivri Heritage Bible. Operating as a priestly seer alongside Chaggai in the post-exilic restoration era under King Daryavesh, Zecharyah bridges the physical rebuilding of the second Temple with a series of sweeping cosmic night visions and far-reaching eschatological decrees. His writings meticulously map the first and second advents of the Messiah, detailing His rejection, His global warfare, and His ultimate enthronement as universal King. Transmitted in this edition through a rigorous Hebraized linguistic framework, the translation honors the explicit source file "ZECHARYAH (ZECHARIAH) Zecharyah" verbatim. By systematically stripping away conventional Western and Hellenized classifications, it recovers the authentic sanctuary vocabulary, angelic hierarchies, and ancestral geographies utilized by the first-century Netzarim community to anchor their understanding of the coming Kingdom. Textual Methodology: Restoring Sacred Names and the Hebraic Lexicon An essential hallmark of The Ivri Heritage Bible is the meticulous restoration of original Hebrew vocabulary, technical descriptors, and institutional designations directly within the prose: - The Divine Names and Titles: The supreme covenantal designation Yahuah (יְהוָה) is restored alongside Yahuah Tzeva’ot (יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת — the Lord of hosts / Lord Almighty) and El (אֵל — God), establishing the absolute cosmic and military authority of the Author. - The Liturgical and Sanctuary Infrastructure: Technical terms delineate the sacred geography of worship, featuring the Beit Yahuah (בֵּית יְהוָה — House of the Lord) or Beit (house), the grand Heichal (הֵיכָל — temple), the sacrificial korban (קָרְבָּן — offering), the mizbeach (altar), and the ultimate golden Menorah (מְנוֹՐָה) flanked by its oil reservoir, the gullah (bowl). The community's sacred year centers on festive chaggim (חַגִּים — feasts), culminating in the mandatory keeping of the autumn feast of Sukkot (סֻכּוֹת — Tabernacles). - Civic and Priesthood Lineages: The leadership parameters focus upon Yeshua the son of Yehozadak, designated explicitly as the Kohen HaGadol (כֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל — high priest), operating in tandem with Zerubbavel. The prophetic messenger is a navi (נָבִיא — prophet) or plural neviim, who communicates the divine davar (דָּבָר — word) by the power of the Ruach (רוּחַ — Spirit). Spiritual holiness is rendered as Kodesh (קֹדֶשׁ), which extends to the definitive consecration phrase Kodesh LaYahuah (קֹדֶשׁ לַיהוָה — Holiness to the Lord). - Topography and Geopolitical Mapping: Real-world topography utilizes its native expressions, including Yerushalayim (יְרוּשָׁלִַים), Tziyon (צִיּוֹן — Zion), Yehudah (יְהוּדָה), Yisrael (יִשְׂרָאֵל), the Aretz HaKodesh (אֶרֶץ הַקֹּדֶשׁ — Holy Land), Har HaZeitim (הַר הַזֵּיתִים — Mount of Olives), and the Yarden (Jordan). Adversarial and foreign geographic realms include Bavel (Babylon), Damesek (Damascus), Tzor (Tyre), Tzidon (Sidon), Ashkelon, Azzah (Gaza), Ekron, Ashdod, Yavanim (Greeks), Mitzrayim (Egypt), Ashur (Assyria), Levanon (Levanon), and Bashan. - Eschatological Figures and Objects: The texts identify HaSatan (הַשָּׂטָן — the Adversary), define the coming Messiah as HaTzemach (הַצֶּמַח — The Branch), and restore specific visionary objects such as the flying magal (sickle), the efah (measure), the royal ataroth (crowns), the two rods No'am (Beauty) and Chovelim (Cords), the prophetic massa (burden), and the final sweeping Yom Yahuah. Prophetic Architecture and Critical Narrative Themes The book of Zecharyah is structurally divided between the eight initial night visions of structural restoration and the subsequent apocalyptic burdens detailing the geopolitical winnowing of the nations. 1. The Call to Return and the Eight Night Visions (Chapters 1–6) 2. The Weight of True Justice and the Dawn of Ir HaEmet (Chapters 7–8) 3. The Coming Melech, the Thirty Pieces of Silver, and the Pierced Shepherd (Chapters 9–11) 4. The Siege of Yerushalayim, the Fountain of Cleansing, and the Final Yom Yahuah (Chapters 12–14) An Enduring Standard for the Remnant Within The Ivri Heritage Bible, the Book of Zecharyah functions as an uncompromised structural compass and an apocalyptic anchor for the scattered community navigating the complex spiritual matrices of the nations. It teaches the remnant that human power (koach) and fleshly strength (gevurah) are entirely useless; true reconstruction and victory are achieved solely by the outpouring of the Ruach.
Chapter 1 The Call to Return and the Night Vision of the Horseman
1
In the eighth month, in the second year of the reign of Daryavesh (Darius), the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) came to Zecharyah, the son of Berechyahu, the son of Iddo, the navi (prophet), saying,
2
Yahuah has been very angry with your fathers.
3
And you shall say to them, Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Turn to Me, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, and I will turn to you, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
4
And do not be as your fathers, whom the neviim (prophets) before charged, saying, Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot: Turn from your evil ways, and from your evil practices: but they listened not, and attended not to listen to Me, saith Yahuah.
5
Where are your fathers, and the neviim (prophets)? Will they live for ever?
6
But do you receive My davar (words) and My chukkim (ordinances), all that I command by My Ruach (Spirit) to My evedim (servants) the neviim (prophets), who lived in the days of your fathers; and they answered and said, As Yahuah Tzeva'ot determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so has He done to us.
7
On the twenty-fourth day in the eleventh month — this is the month Shevat — in the second year of the reign of Daryavesh (Darius), the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) came to Zecharyah, the son of Berechyahu, the son of Iddo, the navi (prophet), saying,
8
I saw by night, and behold a man mounted on a red horse, and he stood between the shady mountains; and behind him were red horses, and grey, and piebald, and white.
9
And I said, What are these, my lord? And the malach (angel) that spoke with me said to me, I will show you what these things are.
10
And the man that stood between the mountains answered, and said to me, These are they whom Yahuah has sent forth to go round the aretz (earth).
11
And they answered the malach Yahuah (angel of the Lord) that stood between the mountains, and said, We have gone round all the aretz (earth), and, behold, all the aretz (earth) is inhabited, and is at rest.
12
Then the malach Yahuah (angel of the Lord) answered and said, O Yahuah Tzeva'ot, how long will You have no mercy on Yerushalayim, and the cities of Yehudah, which You have disregarded these seventy years?
13
And Yahuah Tzeva'ot answered the malach (angel) that spoke with me good words and consolatory sayings.
14
And the malach (angel) that spoke with me said to me, Cry out and say, Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; I have been kanna (jealous) for Yerushalayim and Tziyon with great jealousy.
15
And I am very angry with the goyim (nations) that combine to attack her: forasmuch as I indeed was a little angry, but they combined to attack her for evil.
16
Therefore thus saith Yahuah: I will return to Yerushalayim with compassion; and My Beit (house) shall be rebuilt in her, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, and a measuring line shall yet be stretched out over Yerushalayim.
17
And the malach (angel) that spoke with me said to me, Cry yet, and say, Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Yet shall cities be spread abroad through prosperity; and Yahuah shall yet have mercy upon Tziyon, and shall choose Yerushalayim.
Chapter 2 The Four Horns, the Man with the Measuring Line, and the Call Out of Bavel
1
And I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold four horns.
2
And I said to the malach (angel) that spoke with me, What are these things, my lord? And he said to me, These are the horns that have scattered Yehudah, and Yisrael, and Yerushalayim.
3
And Yahuah showed me four craftsmen.
4
And I said, What are these coming to do? And he said, These are the horns that scattered Yehudah, and they broke Yisrael in pieces, and none of them lifted up his head: and these are come forth to sharpen them for their hands, even the four horns, the goyim (nations) that lifted up the horn against the aretz (land) of Yahuah to scatter it.
5
And I lifted up my eyes, and looked, and behold a man, and in his hand a measuring line.
6
And I said to him, Where are you going? And he said to me, To measure Yerushalayim, to see what is the breadth of it, and what is the length of it.
7
And, behold, the malach (angel) that spoke with me stood by, and another malach (angel) went forth to meet him,
8
and spoke to him, saying, Run and speak to that young man, saying, Yerushalayim shall be fully inhabited by reason of the abundance of men and cattle in the midst of her.
9
And I will be to her, saith Yahuah, a wall of esh (fire) round about, and I will be for a kavod (glory) in the midst of her.
10
Hoy, Hoy (Ho, ho)! flee from the land of the north, saith Yahuah: for I will gather you from the four winds of Shamayim (heaven), saith Yahuah,
11
even to Tziyon: deliver yourselves, you that dwell with the Bat Bavel (daughter of Babylon).
12
For thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; After the kavod (glory) has He sent me to the goyim (nations) that spoiled you: for he that touches you is as one that touches the bat-ayin (apple of His eye).
13
For, behold, I bring My hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to them that serve them: and you shall know that Yahuah Tzeva'ot has sent me.
14
Rejoice and be glad, O Bat Tziyon (daughter of Zion): for, behold, I come, and will dwell in the midst of you, saith Yahuah.
15
And many goyim (nations) shall flee for refuge to Yahuah in that day, and they shall be for a am (people) to Him, and they shall dwell in the midst of you: and you shall know that Yahuah Tzeva'ot has sent me to you.
16
And Yahuah shall inherit Yehudah His portion in the aretz haKodesh (holy land), and He will yet choose Yerushalayim.
17
Let all flesh fear before Yahuah: for He has risen up from His kodesh (holy) clouds.
Chapter 3 Yeshua the Kohen HaGadol, HaSatan the Adversary, and HaTzemach — the Branch of Yahuah
1
And Yahuah showed me Yeshua the Kohen HaGadol (high priest) standing before the malach Yahuah (angel of the Lord), and HaSatan (the Adversary) stood on his right hand to resist him. And Yahuah said to HaSatan (the Adversary),
2
Yahuah rebuke you, O HaSatan (Adversary), even Yahuah that has chosen Yerushalayim rebuke you: behold! is not this as a brand plucked from the esh (fire)?
3
Now Yeshua was clothed in filthy raiment, and stood before the malach (angel).
4
And Yahuah answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, Take away the filthy raiment from him: and He said to him, Behold, I have taken away your avonot (iniquities): and clothe him with a long robe,
5
and place a pure mitznefet (mitre/turban) upon his head. So they placed a pure mitznefet (mitre) upon his head, and clothed him with garments: and the malach Yahuah (angel of the Lord) stood by.
6
And the malach Yahuah (angel of the Lord) testified to Yeshua, saying,
7
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; If you will walk in My ways, and take heed to My charges, then shall you judge My Beit (house): and if you will diligently keep My court, then will I give you men to walk in the midst of these that stand here.
8
Hear now, Yeshua the Kohen HaGadol (high priest), you, and your neighbours that are sitting before you: for they are diviners, for, behold, I bring forth My eved (servant) HaTzemach (The Branch).
9
For as for the even (stone) which I have set before the face of Yeshua, on the one even (stone) are seven eyes: behold, I am digging a trench, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, and I will search out all the avon (iniquity) of that land in one day.
10
In that yom (day), saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, you shall call together every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig-tree.
Chapter 4 The Golden Menorah, Not by Koach Nor Gevurah But by My Ruach, and the Two B'nei-Shemen
1
And the malach (angel) that talked with me returned, and awakened me, as when a man is awakened out of his sleep.
2
And he said to me, What do you see? And I said, I have seen, and behold a Menorah (candlestick) all of gold, and its gullah (bowl) upon it, and seven lamps upon it, and seven oil funnels to the lamps upon it:
3
and two olive-trees above it, one on the right of the gullah (bowl), and one on the left.
4
And I inquired, and spoke to the malach (angel) that talked with me, saying, What are these things, my lord?
5
And the malach (angel) that talked with me answered, and spoke to me, saying, Do you not know what these things are? And I said, No, my lord.
6
And he answered and spoke to me, saying, This is the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) to Zerubbavel, saying, Not by koach (mighty power), nor by gevurah (strength), but by My Ruach (Spirit), saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
7
Who are you, the great mountain before Zerubbavel? You shall not prosper! whereas I will bring out the even (stone) of the nachalah (inheritance), the grace of it the equal of My grace.
8
And the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) came to me, saying,
9
The hands of Zerubbavel have laid the foundation of this Beit (house), and his hands shall finish it: and you shall know that Yahuah Tzeva'ot has sent me to you.
10
For who has despised the small days? surely they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet of tin in the hand of Zerubbavel: these are the seven eyes that look upon all the aretz (earth).
11
And I answered, and said to him, What are these two olive-trees, which are on the right and left hand of the Menorah (candlestick)?
12
And I asked the second time, and said to him, What are the two branches of the olive-trees that are by the side of the two golden pipes that pour into and communicate with the golden oil funnels?
13
And he said to me, Do you not know what these are? and I said, No, my lord.
14
And he said, These are the two b'nei-shemen (anointed ones) that stand by Yahuah of the whole aretz (earth).
Chapter 5 The Flying Magal and the Woman in the Efah
1
And I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked and behold a flying magal (sickle).
2
And he said to me, What do you see? And I said, I see a flying magal (sickle), of the length of twenty cubits, and of the breadth of ten cubits.
3
And he said to me, This is the alah (curse) that goes forth over the face of the whole aretz (earth): for every thief shall be punished with death on this side, and every false swearer shall be punished on that side.
4
And I will bring it forth, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by My Shem (name): and it shall rest in the midst of his house, and shall consume it, and the timber of it, and the stones of it.
5
And the malach (angel) that talked with me went forth, and said to me, Lift up your eyes, and see this that goes forth.
6
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is the efah (measure) that goes forth. And he said, This is their avon (iniquity) in all the aretz (earth).
7
And behold a talent of lead lifted up: and behold a woman sat in the midst of the efah (measure).
8
And he said, This is iniquity. And he cast it into the midst of the efah (measure), and cast the weight of lead on the mouth of it.
9
And I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and, behold, two women coming forth, and the wind was in their wings; and they had stork's wings: and they lifted up the efah (measure) between the aretz (earth) and the Shamayim (sky).
10
And I said to the malach (angel) that spoke with me, Where do these carry away the efah (measure)?
11
And he said to me, To build it a Beit (house) in the land of Bavel (Babylon), and to prepare a place for it; and they shall set it there on its own base.
Chapter 6 The Four Chariots, the Crowning of Yeshua, and HaTzemach Who Shall Build the Beit Yahuah
1
And I turned, and lifted up my eyes, and looked, and, behold, four chariots coming out from between two mountains; and the mountains were brazen mountains.
2
In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;
3
and in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot piebald and ash-coloured horses.
4
And I answered and said to the malach (angel) that talked with me, What are these, my lord?
5
And the malach (angel) that talked with me answered and said, These are the four winds of Shamayim (heaven), and they are going forth to stand before Yahuah of all the aretz (earth).
6
As for the chariot in which were the black horses, they went out to the land of the north; and the white went out after them; and the piebald went out to the land of the south.
7
And the ash-coloured went out, and looked to go and compass the aretz (earth): and he said, Go, and compass the aretz (earth). And they compassed the aretz (earth).
8
And he cried out and spoke to me, saying, Behold, these go out to the land of the north, and they have quieted My anger in the land of the north.
9
And the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) came to me, saying,
10
Take the things of the golah (captivity) from the chief men, and from the useful men of it, and from them that have understood it; and you shall enter in that day into the house of Yoshiyahu the son of Tzephanyah that came out of Bavel (Babylon).
11
And you shall take kesef (silver) and zahav (gold), and make ataroth (crowns), and you shall put them upon the head of Yeshua the son of Yehozadak the Kohen HaGadol (high priest);
12
and you shall say to him, Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Behold the ish (man) whose name is HaTzemach (The Branch); and He shall spring up from His stem, and build the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord).
13
And He shall receive power, and shall sit and rule upon His kise (throne); and there shall be a kohen (priest) on His right hand, and a peaceable counsel shall be between them both.
14
And the ataroth (crown) shall be to them that wait patiently, and to the useful men of the golah (captivity), and to them that have known it, and for the favour of the son of Tzephanyah, and for a psalm in the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord).
15
And they that are far from them shall come and build in the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord), and you shall know that Yahuah Tzeva'ot has sent me to you: and this shall come to pass, if you will diligently listen to the voice of Yahuah your Elohim.
Chapter 7 The Question of Fasting and the Words of the Former Neviim
1
And it came to pass in the fourth year of Daryavesh (Darius) the king, that the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) came to Zecharyah on the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Kislev.
2
And Sarasar and Arbeseer the king and his men sent to Beit-El, and that to propitiate Yahuah,
3
speaking to the kohanim (priests) that were in the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord) Tzeva'ot, and to the neviim (prophets), saying, The holy korban (offering) has come in hither in the fifth month, as it has done already many years.
4
And the davar Yahuah Tzeva'ot (word of the Lord of hosts) came to me, saying,
5
Speak to the whole am (people) of the aretz (land), and to the kohanim (priests), saying, Though you fasted or lamented in the fifth or seventh months (yea, behold, these seventy years) have you at all fasted to Me?
6
And if you eat or drink, do you not eat and drink for yourselves?
7
Are not these the words which Yahuah spoke by the former neviim (prophets), when Yerushalayim was inhabited and in prosperity, and her cities round about her, and the hill country and the low country was inhabited?
8
And the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) came to Zecharyah, saying,
9
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Judge righteous mishpat (judgment), and deal mercifully and compassionately every one with his brother:
10
and oppress not the widow, or the fatherless, or the stranger, or the poor; and let not one of you remember in his lev (heart) the injury of his brother.
11
But they refused to attend, and madly turned their back, and made their ears heavy, so that they should not hear.
12
And they made their lev (heart) disobedient, so as not to listen to My Torah (law), and the davar (words) which Yahuah Tzeva'ot sent forth by His Ruach (Spirit) by the former neviim (prophets): so there was great wrath from Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
13
And it shall come to pass, that as He spoke, and they listened not, so they shall cry, and I will not listen, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
14
And I will cast them out among all the goyim (nations), whom they know not; and the aretz (land) behind them shall be made utterly destitute of any going through or returning: yea they have made the choice aretz (land) a desolation.
Chapter 8 The Restoration of Yerushalayim: Ir HaEmet, the Holy Mountain, and the Ingathering of the Am
1
And the davar Yahuah Tzeva'ot (word of the Lord Almighty) came, saying,
2
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; I have been kanna (jealous) for Yerushalayim and for Tziyon with great jealousy, and I have been jealous for her with great fury.
3
Thus saith Yahuah; I will return to Tziyon, and dwell in the midst of Yerushalayim: and Yerushalayim shall be called Ir HaEmet (a city of truth), and the mountain of Yahuah Tzeva'ot a har haKodesh (holy mountain).
4
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; There shall yet dwell old men and old women in the streets of Yerushalayim, every one holding his staff in his hand for age.
5
And the broad places of the city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
6
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; If it shall be impossible in the sight of the she'erit (remnant) of this am (people) in those days, shall it also be impossible in My sight? saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
7
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Behold, I will save My am (people) from the east country, and the west country;
8
and I will bring them in, and cause them to dwell in the midst of Yerushalayim: and they shall be to Me a am (people), and I will be to them an Elohim, in emet (truth) and in tzedakah (righteousness).
9
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Let your hands be strong, you that hear in these days these words out of the mouth of the neviim (prophets), from the day that the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord) Tzeva'ot was founded, and from the time that the Heichal (temple) was built.
10
For before those days the wages of men could not be profitable, and there could be no hire of cattle, and there could be no shalom (peace) by reason of the affliction to him that went out or to him that came in: for I would have let loose all men, every one against his neighbour.
11
But now I will not do to the she'erit (remnant) of this am (people) according to the former days, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
12
But I will show shalom (peace): the vine shall yield her fruit, and the aretz (land) shall yield her produce, and the Shamayim (heaven) shall give its tal (dew): and I will give as a nachalah (inheritance) all these things to the she'erit (remnant) of My am (people).
13
And it shall come to pass, as you were a curse among the goyim (nations), O house of Yehudah, and house of Yisrael; so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing: be of good courage, and strengthen your hands.
14
For thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; As I took counsel to afflict you when your fathers provoked Me, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, and I repented not:
15
so have I prepared and taken counsel in these days to do good to Yerushalayim and to the house of Yehudah: be of good courage.
16
These are the things which you shall do; speak emet (truth) every one with his neighbour; judge emet (truth) and peaceable mishpat (judgment) in your gates:
17
and let none of you devise evil in his lev (heart) against his neighbour; and love not a false oath: for all these things I hate, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot.
18
And the davar Yahuah Tzeva'ot (word of the Lord Almighty) came to me, saying,
19
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, The fourth fast, and the fifth fast, and the seventh fast, and the tenth fast, shall be to the house of Yehudah for joy and gladness, and for good chaggim (feasts); and you shall rejoice; and love the emet (truth) and shalom (peace).
20
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; Yet shall many peoples come, and the inhabitants of many cities;
21
and the inhabitants of five cities shall come together to one city, saying, Let us go to make supplication to Yahuah, and to seek the face of Yahuah Tzeva'ot; I will go also.
22
And many peoples and many goyim (nations) shall come to seek earnestly the face of Yahuah Tzeva'ot in Yerushalayim, and to obtain favour of Yahuah.
23
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot; In those days My davar (word) shall be fulfilled if ten men of all the languages of the goyim (nations) should take hold — even take hold of the hem of a Yehudi (Jew), saying, We will go with you; for we have heard that El (God) is with you.
Chapter 9 The Massa Against the Nations and the Coming of the Melech on a Donkey — Just and a Moshia
1
The massa (burden) of the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) in the land of Chadrak, and His zevach (sacrifice) shall be in Damesek (Damascus); for Yahuah looks upon men, and upon all the tribes of Yisrael.
2
And in Hamath, even in her coasts, are Tzor (Tyre) and Tzidon (Sidon), because they were very wise.
3
And Tzor (Tyre) built mivtzarim (strong-holds) for herself, and heaped up kesef (silver) as dust, and gathered zahav (gold) as the mire of the ways.
4
And therefore Yahuah will take them for a possession, and will smite her power in the yam (sea); and she shall be consumed with esh (fire).
5
Ashkelon shall see, and fear; Azzah (Gaza) also, and shall be greatly pained, and Ekron (Accaron); for she is ashamed at her trespass; and the king shall perish from Azzah, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.
6
And aliens shall dwell in Ashdod (Azotus), and I will bring down the pride of the Plishtim (Philistines).
7
And I will take their dam (blood) out of their mouth, and their abominations from between their teeth; and these also shall be left to our Elohim, and they shall be as a captain of a thousand in Yehudah, and Ekron as a Yevusi (Jebusite).
8
And I will set up a defence for My Beit (house), that they may not pass through, nor turn back, neither shall there any more come upon them one to drive them away: for now have I seen with My eyes.
9
Rejoice greatly, O Bat Tziyon (daughter of Zion); proclaim it aloud, O Bat Yerushalayim (daughter of Jerusalem); behold, the Melech (King) is coming to you, just, and a Moshia (Saviour); He is anav (meek) and riding on a donkey, and a young foal.
10
And He shall destroy the chariots out of Efrayim (Ephraim), and the horse out of Yerushalayim, and the bow of war shall be utterly destroyed; and there shall be abundance and shalom (peace) out of the goyim (nations); and He shall rule over the waters as far as the yam (sea), and the rivers to the afsei aretz (ends of the earth).
11
And you by the dam (blood) of your Beriyt (covenant) have sent forth your prisoners out of the pit that has no water.
12
You shall dwell in strongholds, you asurim (prisoners) of the congregation: and for one day of your captivity I will recompense you double.
13
For I have bent you, O Yehudah, for Myself as a bow, I have filled Efrayim (Ephraim); and I will raise up your children, O Tziyon, against the children of the Yavanim (Greeks), and I will handle you as the cherev (sword) of a warrior.
14
And Yahuah shall be over them, and His arrow shall go forth as lightning: and Yahuah Tzeva'ot shall blow with the shofar (trumpet); and shall proceed with the tumult of His threatening.
15
Yahuah Tzeva'ot shall protect them, and they shall destroy them, and overwhelm them with sling-stones; and they shall swallow them down as wine, and fill the bowls as the altar.
16
And Yahuah their Elohim shall save them in that yom (day), even His am (people) as a tzon (flock); for avnei kodesh (holy stones) are rolled upon His aretz (land).
17
For if He has anything good, and if He has anything fair, the young men shall have dagan (corn), and there shall be fragrant yayin (wine) to the virgins.
Chapter 10 The Geshem of Yahuah, the Strength of the House of Yosef, and the Ingathering from Mitzrayim and Ashur
1
Ask of Yahuah geshem (rain) in season, the early and the latter: Yahuah has given bright signs, and will give them abundant rain, to every one grass in the field.
2
For the speakers have uttered grievous things, and the diviners have seen false visions, and they have spoken false dreams, they have given vain comfort: therefore have they fallen away like sheep, and been afflicted, because there was no healing.
3
My anger was kindled against the ro'im (shepherds), and I will visit the lambs; and Yahuah Elohim Tzeva'ot shall visit His tzon (flock), the house of Yehudah, and He shall make them as His goodly horse in war.
4
And from Him He looked, and from Him He set the battle in order, and from Him came the bow in anger, and from Him shall come forth every oppressor together.
5
And they shall be as warriors treading clay in the ways in war; and they shall set the battle in array, because Yahuah is with them, and the riders on horses shall be put to shame.
6
And I will strengthen the house of Yehudah, and save the house of Yosef (Joseph), and I will settle them; because I have loved them: and they shall be as if I had not cast them off: for I am Yahuah their Elohim, and I will hear them.
7
And they shall be as the warriors of Efrayim (Ephraim), and their lev (heart) shall rejoice as with wine: and their children also shall see it, and be glad; and their lev (heart) shall rejoice in Yahuah.
8
I will make a sign to them, and gather them in; for I will redeem them, and they shall be multiplied according to their number before.
9
And I will sow them among the am (people); and they that are afar off shall remember Me: they shall nourish their children, and they shall return.
10
And I will bring them again from the land of Mitzrayim (Egypt), and I will gather them in from among Ashur (the Assyrians); and I will bring them into the land of Gil'ad (Galaad) and to Levanon (Lebanon); and there shall not even one of them be left behind.
11
And they shall pass through a narrow yam (sea), they shall smite the waves in the yam (sea), and all the deep places of the rivers shall be dried up: and all the pride of Ashur (the Assyrians) shall be taken away, and the sceptre of Mitzrayim (Egypt) shall be removed.
12
And I will strengthen them in Yahuah their Elohim; and they shall boast in His Shem (name), saith Yahuah.
Chapter 11 No'am and Chovelim — the Two Rods, the Thirty Pieces of Kesef, and the Worthless Shepherd
1
Open your doors, O Levanon (Lebanon), and let the esh (fire) devour your cedars.
2
Let the pine howl, because the cedar has fallen; for the mighty men have been greatly afflicted: howl, you oaks of the land of Bashan; for the thickly planted forest has been torn down.
3
There is a voice of the ro'im (shepherds) mourning; for their greatness is brought low: a voice of roaring lions; for the pride of Yarden (Jordan) is brought down.
4
Thus saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, Feed the tzon (sheep) of the slaughter;
5
which their possessors have slain, and have not repented: and they that sold them said, Blessed be Yahuah; for we have become rich: and their ro'im (shepherds) have suffered no sorrow for them.
6
Therefore I will no longer have mercy upon the inhabitants of the aretz (land), saith Yahuah: but, behold, I will deliver up the men every one into the hand of his neighbour, and into the hand of his melech (king); and they shall destroy the aretz (land), and I will not rescue out of their hand.
7
And I will tend the tzon (flock) of slaughter in the land of Kena'an: and I will take for Myself two rods; the one I called No'am (Beauty), and the other I called Chovelim (Line/Cords); and I will tend the tzon (flock).
8
And I will cut off three ro'im (shepherds) in one month; and My nefesh (soul) shall grieve over them, for their souls cried out against Me.
9
And I said, I will not tend you: that which dies, let it die; and that which falls off, let it fall off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of his neighbour.
10
And I will take My No'am (beautiful) staff, and cast it away, that I may break My Beriyt (covenant) which I made with all the am (people).
11
And it shall be broken in that day; and the Kena'anim (Canaanites/traders), the tzon (sheep) that are kept for Me, shall know that it is the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord).
12
And I will say to them, If it be good in your eyes, give me my price, or refuse it. And they weighed for my price thirty kesef (pieces of silver).
13
And Yahuah said to me, Drop them into the furnace, and I will see if it is good metal, as I was proved for their sakes. And I took the thirty kesef (pieces of silver), and cast them into the furnace in the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord).
14
And I cast away My second rod, even Chovelim (Line/Cords), that I might break the possession between Yehudah and Yisrael.
15
And Yahuah said to me, Take yet to you shepherd's implements belonging to an unskilful shepherd.
16
For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd against the aretz (land): he shall not visit that which is perishing, and he shall not seek that which is scattered, and he shall not heal that which is bruised, nor guide that which is whole: but he shall devour the flesh of the choice ones, and shall dislocate the joints of their necks.
17
Hoy (Alas) for the vain ro'im (shepherds) that have forsaken the tzon (sheep)! the cherev (sword) shall be upon the arms of such a one, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be completely withered, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.
Chapter 12 The Massa for Yisrael: The Siege of Yerushalayim, the Ruach of Grace, and They Shall Look Upon the One They Mocked
1
The massa (burden) of the davar Yahuah (word of the Lord) for Yisrael; saith Yahuah, that stretches out the Shamayim (sky), and lays the foundation of the aretz (earth), and forms the ruach (spirit) of man within him.
2
Behold, I will make Yerushalayim as trembling door-posts to all the goyim (nations) round about, and in Yehudah there shall be a siege against Yerushalayim.
3
And it shall come to pass in that yom (day) that I will make Yerushalayim a trodden stone to all the goyim (nations): every one that tramples on it shall utterly mock at it, and all the goyim (nations) of the aretz (earth) shall be gathered together against it.
4
In that yom (day), saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, I will smite every horse with amazement, and his rider with madness: but I will open My eyes upon the house of Yehudah, and I will smite all the horses of the goyim (nations) with blindness.
5
And the captains of thousands of Yehudah shall say in their lev (heart), We shall find for ourselves the inhabitants of Yerushalayim in Yahuah Tzeva'ot their Elohim.
6
In that yom (day) I will make the captains of thousands of Yehudah as a firebrand among wood, and as a torch of esh (fire) in stubble; and they shall devour on the right hand and on the left all the goyim (nations) round about: and Yerushalayim shall dwell again by herself, even in Yerushalayim.
7
And Yahuah shall save the mishkanot (tabernacles) of Yehudah as at the beginning, that the boast of Beit David (house of David), and the pride of the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, may not magnify themselves against Yehudah.
8
And it shall come to pass in that yom (day), that Yahuah shall defend the inhabitants of Yerushalayim; and the weak one among them in that yom (day) shall be as David, and Beit David (house of David) as the house of Elohim, as the malach Yahuah (angel of the Lord) before them.
9
And it shall come to pass in that yom (day), that I will seek to destroy all the goyim (nations) that come against Yerushalayim.
10
And I will pour upon Beit David (house of David), and upon the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, the ruach (spirit) of grace and compassion: and they shall look upon Me, because they have mocked Me, and they shall make lamentation for Him, as for a beloved friend, and they shall grieve intensely, as for a bechor (firstborn) son.
11
In that yom (day) the lamentation in Yerushalayim shall be very great, as the mourning for the rimon (pomegranate) grove cut down in the plain.
12
And the aretz (land) shall lament in separate families, the family of Beit David (house of David) by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Beit Natan (house of Nathan) by itself, and their wives by themselves;
13
the family of Beit Levi (house of Levi) by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Shimon (Simeon) by itself, and their wives by themselves;
14
all the families that are left, each family by itself, and their wives by themselves.
Chapter 13 The Fountain for Cleansing, the False Neviim Cut Off, and the Cherev Against the Shepherd
1
In that yom (day) every place shall be opened to Beit David (house of David) and to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim for removal and for separation.
2
And it shall come to pass in that yom (day), saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot, that I will utterly destroy the names of the idols from off the aretz (land), and there shall be no longer any remembrance of them: and I will cut off the false neviim (prophets) and the evil ruach (spirit) from the aretz (land).
3
And it shall come to pass, if a man will yet prophesy, that his father and his mother which gave birth to him shall say to him, You shall not live; for you have spoken lies in the Shem (name) of Yahuah: and his father and his mother who gave him birth shall bind him as he is prophesying.
4
And it shall come to pass in that yom (day), that the neviim (prophets) shall be ashamed every one of his vision when he prophesies; and they shall clothe themselves with a garment of hair, because they have lied.
5
And one shall say, I am not a navi (prophet), for I am a tiller of the ground, for a man brought me up thus from my youth.
6
And I will say to him, What are these makot (wounds) between your hands? and he shall say, Those with which I was wounded in My beloved Beit (house).
7
Awake, O cherev (sword), against My ro'im (shepherds), and against the ish (man) who is My citizen, saith Yahuah Tzeva'ot: smite the ro'im (shepherds), and draw out the tzon (sheep): and I will bring My hand upon the little ones.
8
And it shall come to pass, that in all the aretz (land), saith Yahuah, two parts thereof shall be cut off and perish; but the third shall be left therein.
9
And I will bring the third part through the esh (fire), and I will try them as kesef (silver) is tried, and I will prove them as zahav (gold) is proved: they shall call upon My Shem (name), and I will hear them, and say, This is My am (people): and they shall say, Yahuah is my Elohim.
Chapter 14 The Final Yom Yahuah: Har HaZeitim Cleaves, Mayim Chayyim Flow, Yahuah Melech, and the Feast of Sukkot
1
Behold, the days of Yom Yahuah (the Lord) come, and your spoils shall be divided in you.
2
And I will gather all the goyim (nations) to Yerushalayim to war, and the city shall be taken, and the houses plundered, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into golah (captivity), but the rest of My am (people) shall not be utterly cut off from the city.
3
And Yahuah shall go forth, and fight with those goyim (nations) as when He fought in the yom (day) of war.
4
And His feet shall stand in that yom (day) on Har HaZeitim (the Mount of Olives), which is before Yerushalayim on the east, and Har HaZeitim (the Mount of Olives) shall cleave asunder, half of it toward the east and the west, a very great division; and half the mountain shall lean to the north, and half of it to the south.
5
And the valley of My mountains shall be closed up, and the valley of the mountains shall be joined on to Jasod, and shall be blocked up as it was blocked up in the days of the earthquake, in the days of Uzziyahu melech (king) of Yehudah; and Yahuah my Elohim shall come, and all the kedoshim (holy ones) with Him.
6
And it shall come to pass in that yom (day) that there shall be no light,
7
and there shall be for one day cold and frost, and that yom (day) shall be known to Yahuah, and it shall not be day nor night: but towards evening it shall be or (light).
8
And in that yom (day) mayim chayyim (living water) shall come forth out of Yerushalayim; half of it toward the former yam (sea), and half of it toward the latter yam (sea): and so shall it be in summer and spring.
9
And Yahuah shall be melech (King) over all the aretz (earth): in that yom (day) there shall be one Yahuah, and His Shem (name) one,
10
compassing all the aretz (earth), and the wilderness from Geva (Gabe) unto Rimmon (Remmon) south of Yerushalayim. And Ramah (Rama) shall remain in its place. From the gate of Binyamin (Benjamin) to the place of the first gate, to the gate of the corners, and to the tower of Chana'el (Anameel), as far as the king's wine-presses,
11
they shall dwell in the city; and there shall be no more any cherem (curse/destruction), and Yerushalayim shall dwell securely.
12
And this shall be the overthrow with which Yahuah will smite all the goyim (nations), as many as have fought against Yerushalayim; their flesh shall consume away while they are standing upon their feet, and their eyes shall melt out of their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13
And there shall be in that yom (day) a great panic from Yahuah upon them; and they shall lay hold every man of the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall be clasped with the hand of his neighbour.
14
Yehudah also shall fight in Yerushalayim; and Elohim shall gather the strength of all the goyim (nations) round about, kesef (gold/silver), and zahav (gold), and apparel, in great abundance.
15
And this shall be the overthrow of the horses, and mules, and camels, and asses, and all the beasts that are in those camps, according to this overthrow.
16
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall be left of all the goyim (nations) that came against Yerushalayim, shall even come up every year to worship the melech (King), Yahuah Tzeva'ot, and to keep the feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles).
17
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever of all the families of the aretz (earth) shall not come up to Yerushalayim to worship the melech (King), Yahuah Tzeva'ot, even these shall be added to the others.
18
And if the family of Mitzrayim (Egypt) shall not go up, nor come; then upon them shall be the overthrow with which Yahuah shall smite all the goyim (nations), whichever of them shall not come up to keep the feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles).
19
This shall be the sin of Mitzrayim (Egypt), and the sin of all the goyim (nations), whosoever shall not come up to keep the feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles).
20
In that yom (day) there shall be upon the bridle of every horse Kodesh LaYahuah (Holiness to the Lord) Tzeva'ot; and the caldrons in the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord) shall be as bowls before the altar.
21
And every pot in Yerushalayim and in Yehudah shall be kadosh (holy) to Yahuah Tzeva'ot: and all that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and shall seethe meat in them: and in that yom (day) there shall be no more the Kena'ani (Canaanite/trader) in the Beit Yahuah (house of the Lord) Tzeva'ot.
