Introduction
Introduction to Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham (The Apocalypse of Abraham)
Within the Framework of the Ivri Heritage Bible
The text presented here is an authentic rendering of Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham (the Apocalypse or Book of the Revelation of Abraham), tracking the foundational lineage of Avraham ben Terach back to Chanoch and Adam. Positioned as a critical prophetic anchor within The Ivri Heritage Bible, this book acts as a majestic covenantal blueprint, cosmological guide, and eschatological chronicle for the assembly (Kehillah) that faithfully awaits the righteous Mishpat (judgment) of the Most High. Delivered directly through celestial visions, the cleansing of sacrifice, and the instruction of the Malach Yahoel—the namesake of the divine mediation—these revelations transform primeval history, the collapse of idolatry, and the final destiny of the righteous into a strict structural and priestly constitution.
Textual Methodology: Restoring the Ancient Path
As a foundational book within The Ivri Heritage Bible, this edition of Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham utilizes a meticulous comparative textual methodology designed to strip away centuries of Western, Greco-Roman, and Eurocentric theological varnish, restoring the original Lashon Khodesh (Holy Tongue) concepts directly to the text.
The Historical Authority of Regional Traditions and the Slavonic Repository
While many ancient pseudepigraphal works were preserved via the Septuagint, the Great Uncial Codices (such as Codex Sinaiticus and Vaticanus), or the Ethiopic (Ge'ez) daughter translations, Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham survived uniquely through the Old Slavonic manuscript tradition. Emerging from regional translations of early Greek text-types between the 10th and 14th centuries, these documents rescued a profound pre-Masoretic layer of Israelite apocalypticism from Western suppression.
Understanding this preservation is vital, as this distinct textual stream profoundly aligns with the chronology, cosmic architecture, and angelology found in other primary heritage texts: • The Preservation of the Ancient Line: Much like the Ethiopic texts preserved rare calendar systems, the Slavonic repository acted as the sole historical vehicle to keep the complete text of Abraham's apocalypse intact across millennia. • Daughter Translations and Semitic Underlays: Though filtered through historical Greek intermediaries and early medieval translations, the syntax, structural parallelism, and idioms within the text betray a definitive, underlying Hebraic or Aramaic original layer.
Correcting the Omissions of the Masoretic Text
A critical reason The Ivri Heritage Bible prioritizes ancient witnesses like the Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS), Sefer Chanoch, and Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham is that late rabbinic copyists systematically altered, truncated, or deleted key passages in the standard Masoretic Text (MT) to diminish the original, supernatural framework of the text. Multiple stark examples of these missing vital elements are exposed and corrected through the light of this book: 1. The Origin of Evil and the Dominion of Azazel — The standard MT minimizes the systemic cosmic authority granted to fallen entities, reducing "Azazel" in Leviticus 16 to a mere scapegoat or wilderness cliff. This text restores the true cosmic reality: Azazel is a primordial adversary who rebelled against the Shaddai, scattered the sodot (secrets) of Shamayim, and was subsequently given weight and will to rule over those who desire evil. 2. The Cosmic Allotment of Nations — Paralleling the uncorrupted readings of Deuteronomy 32:8–9 found in the DSS, this text explicitly maps out the binary divide of the earth. It demonstrates that while the godless nations are entangled with the lot of Azazel, the zera (seed) of Abraham is a set-apart company destined to be called Ami (My people). 3. The Pre-existent Reality of Creation — This book repairs corrupted or simplified understandings of genesis by revealing that everything determined to exist was previously depicted, designed, and stood firmed before the face of the Almighty by be'Kevodi (the Word within His Glory) before physical creation.
Hebraic Messianic Nazarene Wordings
While adhering to the pristine layout of the ancient witnesses, this translation completely eliminates Westernized, church-centric nomenclature. By implementing a strictly Hebraic Messianic Nazarene vocabulary, the narrative restores the original context directly to the reader. Artificial terms and Hellenized titles are completely discarded, replacing them with the true, restored names and terms: • Yahuah / Adon Olam Shaddai: The personal Covenant Name / The Eternal Mighty God. • Yeshua / Mashiach: The ultimate relief, salvation, and Anointed Shepherd chosen from the generation of Abraham to shorten the Age of Ungodliness. • Beriyt / Mitzvot: The foundational covenant, instructions, and commandments. • Malach Yahoel / Mikha’el: The high angelic guides who hold the Ineffable Name and protect the righteous seed forever.
Core Theological Themes and Structural Blueprint
The layout of "THE APOCALYPSE OF ABRAHAM.docx" forms a complete mathematical, historical, and apocalyptic manual for a set-apart society. Within this edition, the text is organized around four major spiritual and administrative pillars:
1. The Conversion from Idolatry and the Fall of the False Gods (Chapters 1–8)
The narrative opens with a brilliant, polemical deconstruction of the craft of Terah. It details Avraham’s realization of the total vanity of elilim (idols/gods) made of etz (wood), even (stone), and precious metals. Through a series of structural failures—such as the heavy stone idol Mar-Umath losing its head and the wooden god Bar-Eshath turning to efer (ashes) on the very hearth fire it was meant to watch—Avraham uses clear thinking to deduce a strict hierarchy of natural elements. Concluding that fire, water, earth, the sun, and the stars are all subjugated elements, he seeks the true Boreh (Creator). The section culminates in the kol (voice) of Shaddai descending in a stream of esh (fire), commanding Avraham to flee the house of his father before it is reduced to dust by thunder and wrath.
2. The Pure Sacrifice at Chorev and the Confrontation with Azazel (Chapters 9–14) Guided by the archangel Yahoel—who carries the power of the Ineffable Name and reconciles the rivalries of the heavenly Chayot (Living Creatures)—Avraham undergoes a forty-day fast from food touched by fire or wine. He journeys to Mount Chorev (Horeb) to offer a tahor (pure) zevach (sacrifice). On the mountain, an impure bird—revealed as Azazel, the spirit of the lie—attempts to divert Avraham from his priestly ascension. Through the authority of Yahoel, Avraham delivers a severe covenantal reproach, stripping the fallen watcher of his former heavenly garment and binding him to the inaccessible depths of the aretz (earth).
3. The Ascension on the Wings of Birds and the Vision of the Merkavah (Chapters 15–19) Avraham ascends to the highest raki'a (firmament) on the wings of the sacrificial birds, entering a realm of indescribable Or (light) and fiercely burning esh. Taught by his malach guide, he recites the celestial Shir (Song of the Hosts) before the very Kissei (Throne of Glory). The text details the precise mechanics of the divine merkavah (chariot), including the many-eyed Ofanim (Wheels) and the sixteen faces of the singing Chayot (Living Creatures). From this celestial vantage point, the levels of heaven open beneath his feet, disclosing the movements of the kochavim (stars) and the compliance of the earthly elements.
4. The Mirror of the World, the Mashiach, and the Ten Plagues (Chapters 20–32) The text culminates in a sweeping, panoramic revelation of the history of the olam (world), uniquely combining thematic arcs that are profoundly likened to the book of Exodus and the book of Revelation. Looking into the cosmic mirror, Avraham witnesses the fall of Adam and Chavah under the manipulation of Azazel, the internal generational sins of Israel, the eventual destruction of the beautiful heikhal (Temple) by heathen nations, and the ultimate Ketz (End of Days). The prophecy reveals the appearance of Yeshua—the Mashiach and Ro'eh (Shepherd) of righteousness—who will gather the dispersed remnant of Yisrael, accept those who return in teshuvah (repentance), and force Azazel to acknowledge the sovereignty of Adonai. Mirroring the historical liberation of Exodus and the apocalyptic triumph of Revelation, the age concludes with ten devastating plagues falling upon the goyim, the sounding of the heavenly shofar, and the complete renewal of the covenant le'olam (forever).
Glossary of Key Restored Terms
To grasp the authentic covenantal depth of Sefer ha'Gelui shel Avraham within The Ivri Heritage Bible, the reader should understand the following key terms: • Adon Olam Shaddai: The Eternal Mighty Lord; the supreme title of the Sovereign Creator who speaks from the midst of the fire. • Yeshua / Mashiach: Salvation / The Anointed One; the chosen relief raised up from the progeny of Abraham to lead the people in righteousness and shorten the ungodly age. • Yahoel: The great archangel of mediation holding the Ineffable Name, appointed to govern the Leviathanim and strengthen the chosen line. • Azazel: The primordial adversary and adviser of lawlessness; the ruler of impurity whose heritage resides over the godless nations. • Elilim: Idols or false gods; vanity crafted by human hands out of base elements that possess no power to hear, save, or bless. • Zevach Todah: A sacrifice of thanksgiving; the pure, prescribed priestly offering establishing an open pathway to the revelations of Shamayim. • Olam ha'Resha / Olam ha'Tzaddikim: The Age of Ungodliness / The Age of the Righteous; the two distinct, predetermined structural epochs that govern the timeline of creation.
Through this restored, Hebraic, and pre-Masoretic lens, Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham stands revealed not as an obscured, external work, but as the active, authoritative, and chronological blueprint for the preservation of our genuine heritage, the unmasking of wickedness, and the realization of righteousness under the unchanging clock of the Almighty.
Chapter 1 AVRAHAM’S CONVESION FROM IDOLATRY
1
THE APOCALYPSE OF ABRAHAM, with Hebrew Messianic Nazarene wordings applied. Sefer ha'Gilui shel Avraham (The Book of the Revelation of Abraham), ben Terach (the son of Terah), ben Nachor (the son of Nahor), ben Serug (the son of Serug), ben Re'u (the son of Reu), ben Arpachshad (the son of Arphaxad), ben Shem (the son of Shem), ben Noach (the son of Noah), ben Lamech (the son of Lamech), ben Metushelach (the son of Methuselah), ben Chanoch (the son of Enoch), ben Yared (the son of Yared). On the yom (day) when I was destroying the elilim (gods/idols) of my father Terach (Terah) and the elilim of my brother Nachor (Nahor), when I was testing which one was the truly strong el (god),
2
at the time when my lot came up, when I had finished the services of my father Terach 's zevach (sacrifice) to his elilim of etz (wood), even (stone), zahav (gold), kesef (silver), nechoshet (brass) and barzel (iron),
3
I, Avraham (Abraham), having entered their heikhal (temple) for the service, found an el (god) named Mar-Umath , carved out of even , fallen at the feet of an iron el , Nachon .
4
And it came to pass, that when I saw this, my heart was troubled. And I fell to thinking, because I, Avraham , was unable to return him to his place all by myself, since he was heavier than a great even .
5
And I went and told my father. And he entered with me.
6
And as we both were moving him [ Mar-Umath ] to return him in his place, his head fell off of him, while I was still holding him by his head.
7
And it came to pass, when my father saw that the head of Mar-Umath had fallen off of him, he said to me, " Avraham !"
8
And I said, " Hineni (Here am I)!" And he said to me, "Bring me an axe and a chisel from the bayit (house)."
9
And I brought [them] to him from the bayit. And he carved another Mar-Umath , out of another even , without a head, and [placed on him] the head that had been thrown down from Mar-Umath , and smashed the rest of Mar-Umath .
Chapter 2
1
And he made five other elilim (gods/idols), and he gave them to me [and] told me to sell them outside in the street of the ir (town).
2
And I saddled my av (father)’s chamor (ass) and put them on it [and] went out to the main road to sell them.
3
And behold, socherim (merchants) from Paddan Aram came with gamalim (camels) to go to Mitzrayim (Egypt) to buy kokonil from the Ye’or (Nile) there.
4
And I greeted them and they answered me. And I began to talk with them. One of their gamalim bellowed. The chamor took fright and he ran and threw down the elilim . And three of them were smashed and two remained.
5
And it came to pass, when the Aramim (Syrians) saw that I had elilim , they said to me, “Why did you not tell us that you had elilim ? We would have bought them before the chamor heard the camel’s cry and you would have had no loss.
6
Give us at least the remaining elilim and we will give you a proper price.”
7
And I thought [it over] in my lev (heart). And they gave [also] the price of the smashed elilim for the elilim that remained.
8
Since I had been distressed in my lev [wondering], “How would I let my av know about the matter?!”
9
And the debris of the smashed [ elilim ] I cast into the mayim (water) of the nahar (river) Gur , which was at that place. And they sank into the depths and were no more.
Chapter 3
1
And while I was still walking on the road, my lev (heart) was disturbed and my da'at (mind) was distracted. And I said in my lev ,
2
“What is the profit of the toil which my av (father) is doing?
3
Is not he rather a god of his elilim (gods/idols), since by his sculpting, carving and skill they come into being?
4
It would be more fitting for them to worship my av, since they are his work. What gain is there for my av in his own works?
5
Behold, Mar-Umath fell and was unable to stand up again in his own temple, nor could I lift him on my own, until my av came and we both lifted him.
6
And as we were unable, his head fell off of him. And he placed it on another stone of another god, which he had made without a head.
7
And [likewise were] the other five elilim which were smashed down from the chamor (ass), which were able neither to save themselves nor to hurt the chamor for it smashed them, nor did their shards come up from the mayim (water).”
8
And I said to myself, “If it is thus, how then can my av ’s god, Mar-Umath , having a head of one stone and [the rest] being made of another stone, save a man, or hear a man’s tefillah (prayer) and reward him?”
Chapter 4 Abraham Preaches Monotheism, Attempt to Persuade Terah
1
And thinking thus, I came to my av (father)’s bayit (house) and watered the chamor (ass) and set out hay for it. I brought out the kesef (money) and gave it into the hand of my av Terach (Terah).
2
When he saw it, he was glad, and he said, “ Baruch (blessed) by my elilim (gods/idols) are you, Avraham (Abraham), for you gave kavod (honor) to the elilim , so that my labor was not in vain!”
3
And I declared and said to him, “Hear, Terach , [my] av ! It is the elilim who are blessed by you, since you are a god to them, since you have made them; since their blessing is perdition, and their power is vain.
4
They could not help themselves, how [then] will they help you or bless me?
5
[In fact] I was for you a kind el (god) of this gain, since it was through my cleverness that I brought you the kesef for the smashed [ elilim ].”
6
And when he heard my word, his af (anger) was kindled against me, since I had spoken harsh words against his elilim .
Chapter 5 Fall of Bar-Eshath
1
When I saw my av (father)’s af (anger), I went out. And afterward, when I had gone out, he called me, saying, “ Avraham (Abraham)!”
2
And I said, “ Hineni (Here am I)!”
3
And he said, “Gather and take the splinters from the etz (wood) out of which I was making wooden elilim (gods/idols) before you came [and] cook me a meal!”
4
And it came to pass, when I was collecting the wooden splinters, I found among them a small el (god), lying among the pieces of etz on my left.
5
And on his forehead was written: “ el Bar-Eshath .”
6
And it came to pass, when I found him, I held back and did not tell my av that I had found the wooden el Bar-Eshath among the chips. And it came to pass, after I had put the splinters on the esh (fire), in order to cook food for my av , that I went out to ask about the food and I put Bar-Eshath near the hearth of fire, saying to him menacingly,
7
“ Bar-Eshath , make sure that the esh does not go out before I come back. If the esh does go out, blow on it to make it flare up.”
8
[And] I went out, having kindled my esh .
9
When I came back again I found Bar-Eshath fallen backwards, his feet enveloped in esh and terribly burned.
10
Laughing greatly to myself, I said, “ Bar-Eshath , you certainly are able to kindle esh and cook food!”
11
And it came to pass, while I was speaking laughingly, that he was gradually burned up by the esh and became efer (ashes).
12
And I brought the food to my av , [and] he ate.
13
And I gave him yayin (wine) and chalav (milk), and he drank and satiated himself and blessed Mar-Umath , his el .
14
And I said to him, “ Av Terach (father Terah), do not bless your el Mar-Umath , do not praise him! Praise rather your el Bar-Eshath because, in his love for you he threw himself into the esh in order to cook your food.”
15
And he said to me, “And where is he now?”
16
“He has been reduced to efer in the fury of the esh and become afar (dust).”
17
And he said, “Great is the power of Bar-Eshath ! I shall make another today, and tomorrow he will make my food!”
Chapter 6 Hierarchy of gods
1
When I, Avraham (Abraham), heard such words from my av (father), I [both] laughed in my mind and [yet] groaned in the bitterness and af (anger) of my nefesh (soul).
2
And I said, “How can a statue made by my av [ever] be his helper?
3
Or would he have subordinated his body to his nefesh , his nefesh to his ruach (spirit), then his ruach —to folly and ignorance?”
4
And I said, “Must one put up with evil? Let me risk my life for purity and I shall put forth my own clear thinking before him!”
5
I declared and said, “ Av Terach (father Terah), whichever of these elilim (gods/idols) you praise, you err in your thinking.
6
Behold, my brother Nachor (Nahor)’s elilim standing in the holy temple are more honored than yours.
7
For behold, Zoukh , my brother Nachor ’s el , is more honored than your el Mar-Umath , since he is made of zahav (gold) sold by men.
8
And if he becomes worn out with the years, he will be remade, whereas Mar-Umath , if he is changed or broken, will not be remade, since he is of stone.
9
[And] what about Yoavon , an el who is in the power of another el , who stands beside Zoukh ? Since [even] he is more honored than the el Bar-Eshath who is made of etz (wood), while [ Yoavon is] forged of kesef (silver). And being better proportioned, he is sold by men in order to show him.
10
But Bar-Eshath , your el , before he was made had been rooted in the ground.
11
Being great and wondrous, with branches, flowers and [various] beauties.
12
And you cut him with an axe, and by your skill the el was made.
13
And behold, he has dried up, and his sap is gone.
14
He fell from the heights to the ground, and he went from greatness to insignificance,
15
and his appearance has faded.
16
[Now] he himself has been burned up by the esh (fire),
17
and he turned into efer (ashes) and is no more.
18
Yet you say: ‘Today I shall make another one, and tomorrow he will make my food.’
19
[But] he retained no strength utterly perishing!”
Chapter 7 Hierarchy of Natural Elements and Luminaries, Monotheistic Conclusion
1
This I say:
2
Esh (fire) is the noblest [element] in the image [of the olam (world)], since even the things which are [otherwise] unsubdued are subdued in it, and [since] it mocks with its flames the things which perish easily.
3
But I would not call it an el (god) either, since it is subjugated to mayim (water).
4
Mayim is indeed nobler, since it overcomes esh and soaks the aretz (earth).
5
But I would not call it an el , since it is subjugated to the aretz , running underneath it.
6
I would rather call the aretz the noblest, since it overcomes the substance and abundance of mayim.
7
But neither would I call it elohim (gods), since it is dried up by the shemesh (sun) [and since it is] made for men to plow.
8
[So] I would call the shemesh nobler than the aretz , since with its rays it illuminates the inhabited olam and the various airs.
9
But I would not make it into an el either, since its course is obscured [both] at laylah (night) [and] by the clouds.
10
Nor, again, would I call the yareach (moon) and the kochavim (stars) elohim, since they too in their times at laylah can darken their or (light).
11
Listen, Terach (Terah), my av (father), I shall seek in your presence the Elohim (God) who created all the elohim which we consider!
12
For who is it, or which one is it who colored Shamayim (heaven) and made the shemesh golden, who has given or to the yareach and the kochavim with it, who has dried the aretz in the midst of many waters, who set you yourself among the elements, and who now has chosen me in the distraction of my da'at (mind)?—Will he reveal himself by himself to us?— [ Hu ] (He is) Ha'Elohim (the God)!”
Chapter 8 Punishment of Terah
1
And as I was thinking about these things, here is what happened to my av (father) Terach (Terah) in the courtyard of his bayit (house): The kol (voice) of the Shaddai (Mighty One) came down from Shamayim (heaven) in a stream of esh (fire), saying and calling, “ Avraham (Abraham), Avraham !”
2
And I said, “ Hineni (Here am I)!”
3
And he said, “In the chokhmah (wisdom) of your lev (heart) you are searching for the El Elohim (God of gods) and the Boreh (Creator). Ani Hu (I am he)!
4
Leave Terach your av, and leave the bayit, so that you too are not slain for the avonot (sins) of your av ’s bayit!”
5
And I went out. And it came to pass as I was going out, that I had not even gotten as far as going beyond the doors of the courtyard,
6
when the sound of ra'am (thunder) came forth and burned him and his bayit and everything in the bayit, down to the ground [to a distance of] forty cubits.
Chapter 9 Revelation, Sacrifice, Command on Sacrifice
1
Then came a kol (voice) saying to me twice, " Avraham (Abraham), Avraham!"
2
And I said, " Hineni (Here am I)!"
3
And he said, "Behold, it is I! Al tira (fear not), for Ani (I am) the Kadmon (Primordial) and Shaddai (Mighty) Elohim (God), who initially created the two luminaries of the olam (world).
4
I protect you and I am your helper.
5
Go, take for me a heifer in her third year, and a she-goat in her third year, and a ram in his third year, and a turtledove, and a pigeon, and set out for me a tahor (pure) zevach (sacrifice). And in this zevach I shall set before you the olamim (ages)
6
and make you know sodot (secrets), and you will see great things which you have not seen, since you loved to search for me, and I called you ' ohevi (my friend).'
7
But for forty days abstain from every food which issues from esh (fire), and from the drinking of yayin (wine), and from anointing [yourself] with shemen (oil).
8
And then you shall set out for me the zevach which I have commanded you, in the place which I shall show you on a high mountain.
9
And there shall I show you the olamim (ages): things built and firmed, made and renewed by be'Davari (by my Word).
10
And I shall make you know what will come to pass in them on those who have done evil and [those who have done] just things among the race of men."
Chapter 10 Angel Yahoel
1
And it came to pass, when I heard the kol (voice) announcing such words to me, and I looked hither and thither.
2
And behold, there was no breath of man, and my ruach (spirit) was affrighted, and my nefesh (soul) fled from me, and I became like a stone, and fell down upon the aretz (earth), for there was no longer strength in me to stand up on the aretz.
3
And when I was still face down on the aretz , I heard the kol of the Kadosh (Holy One), saying, "Go, Yahoel , the namesake of the mediation of my ineffable Shem (Name), sanctify this man and strengthen him from his trembling!"
4
And the mal'ach (angel) whom he sent to me in the likeness of a man came, and he took me by my right hand and stood me on my feet.
5
And he said to me, "Stand up, Avraham (Abraham), the ohev Elohim (friend of God) who has loved you, let human trembling not enfold you.
6
For behold, I am sent to you to strengthen you and to bless you be'Shem (in the name of) Elohim , the Boreh (Creator) of heavenly and earthly things, who has loved you.
7
Be bold and hasten to him.
8
I am Yahoel named by him who shakes those which are with me on the seventh vault, on the raki'a (firmament). I am a power in the midst of the Ineffable who put together his names in me.
9
I am appointed according to his commandment to reconcile the rivalries of the Chayot (Living Creatures) of the Keruvim (Cherubim) against one another, and teach those who bear him [to sing] the Shir (Song) in the middle of man's laylah (night), at the seventh hour.
10
I am made in order to rule over the Leviathanim (Leviathans), since the attack and the threat of every reptile are subjugated to me.
11
I am ordered to unlock She'ol (Hades) and to destroy those who worship the dead things.
12
I am ordered to burn your av (father)'s bayit (house) with him, for he honored the dead things.
13
I am sent to you now to bless you and the aretz which the Eternal One , called by you, has prepared for you.
14
And for your sake I have indicated the way of earth.
15
Stand up, Avraham , go boldly, be very joyful and rejoice! And I am with you, since an honorable portion has been prepared for you by the Eternal One.
16
Go, fulfill your zevach (sacrifice) of the command! For behold, I am appointed to be with you and with the zera (progeny) which is due to be born from you.
17
And Mikha’el [Michael] is with me in order to bless you forever. Be bold, go!"
Chapter 11
1
And I stood and saw him who had taken my right hand and set me on my feet.
2
The appearance of the griffin’s body was like sapir (sapphire), and the likeness of his face like chrysolite, and the hair of his head like sheleg (snow),
3
and a turban on his head like the appearance of the keshet (bow) in the clouds, and the closing of his garments [like] purple, and a golden staff [was] in his right hand.
4
And he said to me “ Avraham (Abraham)!” and I said, “ Hineni (Here is your servant)!” And he said, “Let my appearance not frighten you, nor my speech trouble your nefesh (soul)!
5
Come with me and I shall go with you, visible until the zevach (sacrifice), but after the zevach invisible forever.
6
Be bold and go!”
Chapter 12 Journey to Horeb
1
And we went, the two of us alone together, forty days and nights.
2
And I ate no lechem (bread) and drank no mayim (water), because [my] food was to see the mal'ach (angel) who was with me, and his speech with me was my drink.
3
And we came to the glorious Elohim ’s mountains— Chorev (Horeb).
4
And I said to the mal'ach , “Singer of the Eternal One , behold, I have no zevach (sacrifice) with me, nor do I know a place for a mizbe'ach (altar) on the mountain, so how shall I make the zevach ?”
5
And he said, “Look behind you.”
6
And I looked behind me. And behold, all the prescribed sacrifices were following us: the calf, the she-goat, the ram, the turtledove, and the pigeon.
7
And the mal'ach said to me, “ Avraham (Abraham)!” And I said, “ Hineni (Here am I)!”
8
And he said to me, “Slaughter and cut all this, putting together the two halves, one against the other. But do not cut the birds.
9
And give them [halves] to the two men whom I shall show you standing beside you, since they are the mizbe'ach on the mountain, to offer zevach to the Eternal One.
10
The turtledove and the pigeon you will give me, and I shall ascend in order to show to you [the inhabited world] on the wings of two birds, in Shamayim (heaven) and on the aretz (earth): the sea, and the abysses, and the depths, and the Gan Eden (garden of Eden), and its rivers and the fullness of the inhabited olam (world) and round about it you will see everything.”
Chapter 13 Avraham accomplishes the Sacrifice, under the Guidance of the Angel, and refuses to be diverted from his Purpose by Azazel
1
And I did everything according to the mal'ach (angel)’s command. And I gave to the mal'achim (angels) who had come to us the divided parts of the animals. And the mal'ach took the two birds.
2
And I waited for [the time of] the erev (evening) offering.
3
And an impure bird flew down on the carcasses, and I drove it away.
4
And the impure bird spoke to me and said, “What are you doing, Avraham (Abraham), on the holy heights, where no one eats or drinks, nor is there upon them food of men. But these will all be consumed by esh (fire) and they will burn you up.
5
Leave the man who is with you and flee! Since if you ascend to the height, they will destroy you.”
6
And it came to pass when I saw the bird speaking I said to the mal'ach , “What is this, my lord?” And he said, “This is iniquity, this is Azazel !”
7
And he said to him, “Reproach is on you, Azazel ! Since Avraham ’s portion is in Shamayim (heaven), and yours is on aretz (earth),
8
Since you have chosen it and desired it to be the dwelling place of your impurity. Therefore the Adon Olam (Eternal Lord), the Shaddai (Mighty One), has made you a dweller on aretz.
9
And because of you [there is] the wholly-evil ruach ha-sheker (spirit of the lie), and because of you [there are] wrath and trials on the generations of impious men.
10
Since the Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty God) did not send the tzaddikim (righteous), in their bodies, to be in your hand, in order to affirm through them the righteous life and the destruction of impiety.
11
Hear, adviser! Be shamed by me, since you have been appointed to tempt not to all the tzaddikim!
12
Depart from this man!
13
You cannot deceive him, because he is the enemy of you and of those who follow you and who love what you desire.
14
For behold, the garment which in Shamayim was formerly yours has been set aside for him, and the corruption which was on him has gone over to you.”
Chapter 14 Azazel
1
And the mal'ach (angel) said to me, “Avraham (Abraham)!” And I said, “Hineni (Here am I), your eved (servant).”
2
And he said, “Know from now on that the Eternal One has chosen you, [He] whom you love. Be of good courage and use this authority, so far as I bid you, against him who slanders emet (truth).
3
Should I not be able to put him to shame who has scattered over the earth the sodot (secrets) of Shamayim (heaven) and has rebelled against the Shaddai (Mighty One)?
4
Say to him: ‘Be you the burning coal of the furnace of the aretz (earth)!
5
Go, Azazel , into the inaccessible parts of the aretz .
6
[For your heritage is to be over those existing with you, being born with the stars and clouds, with the men whose portion you are, and who through your being exist; and your enmity is your righteousness.
7
On this account, by your own perdition, disappear from me!’”
8
And I uttered the words which the mal'ach had taught me. And he said, “ Avraham !” And I said, “ Hineni , your eved .”
9
And the mal'ach said to me, “Answer him not; for Elohim has given him power over those who answer him.”
10
[And the mal'ach spoke to me a second time and said: “Now rather, however much he speaks to you, answer him not, that his will may have no free course in you, because the Eternal and Shaddai has given him weight and will; answer him not.”
11
I did what was commanded me by the mal'ach ;] and however much he spoke to me, I answered him nothing whatsoever.
Chapter 15 Ascension to Heaven, Ascent on the Wings of the Birds
1
And it came to pass when the shemesh (sun) went down, and behold, a smoke as of a furnace.
2
And the mal'achim (angels) who had the portions of the zevach (sacrifice) ascended from the top of the smoking furnace.
3
And the mal'ach (angel) took me with his right hand and set me on the right wing of the pigeon, and set himself on the left wing of the turtledove, which birds had neither been slaughtered nor divided.
4
And he bore me to the borders of the flaming esh (fire).
5
And we ascended, as it were, with many winds to the Shamayim (heaven) which was fixed upon the surface.
6
And I saw on the air, on the height to which we ascended, a strong Or (light), which it was impossible to describe.
7
And behold, in this Or (light) there was a fiercely burning Esh (fire) for people—many people of male appearance,
8
All constantly changing in aspect and form, running and being transformed, and worshiping and crying with a sound of words which I knew not. And from the fire I made the ranks of the spiritual host. Ten thousand malakhim (angels) and their weapons are fiery, and their beged (garment) is a burning flame.
Chapter 16 The Voice of the Eternal One (16)
1
And I said to the mal'ach : “Why have you brought me up here now? For I cannot now see, for I am already grown weak, and my ruach (spirit) departs from me.”
2
And he said to me: “Remain by me; al tira (fear not)! And He whom you see come straight towards us with a great kol kedushah (voice of holiness)—that is the Adon Olam (Eternal One) who loves you; but Himself you cannot see.
3
Yet let not your ruach grow faint on account of the loud crying, for I am with you, strengthening you.”
Chapter 17 Avraham, taught by Malakh (Angel), utters the Celestial Song and prays for Enlightenment
1
And while he was still speaking, behold, an esh (fire) was coming toward us round about, and a sound was in the fire like a sound of many mayim (waters), like a sound of the sea in its uproar.
2
And the mal'ach (angel) bowed with me and worshiped.
3
And I wanted to fall face down to the aretz (earth). And the place of elevation on which we both stood sometimes was on high, sometimes rolled down.
4
And he said, "Only worship, Avraham (Abraham), and recite the shir (song) which I taught you."
5
Since there was no aretz to fall to, I only bowed down and recited the shir which he had taught me.
6
And he said, "Recite without ceasing."
7
And I recited, and he himself recited the shir :
8
"O Adon Olam (Eternal), Shaddai (Mighty), Kadosh El (Holy God), El Autocrat !
9
Self-Begotten, Incorruptible, Immaculate, Unbegotten, Spotless, Immortal,
10
Self-Created, Self-Illuminated, Without Mother, Without Father, Without Genealogy,
11
High, Fiery,
12
Wise, Lover of Men, Favorable, Generous, Bountiful, Jealous Over Me, Patient, Most Merciful,
13
Eli {that is, my Elohim (God)}, Adon Olam (Eternal), Shaddai (Mighty), Kadosh Sabaoth (Holy of Hosts), Most Glorious El, El, El, El, Yahoel !
14
You are He whom my nefesh (soul) has loved, the Guardian, Eternal, Fiery, Shining, Light-Formed, Thunder-Voiced, Lightning-Looking, Many-Eyed,
15
[You are He] who receives the entreaties of those who honor You,
16
and turning away from the entreaties of those who besiege You by the siege of their provocation,
17
releases those who are in the midst of the impious, those who are confused among the unrighteous of the inhabited olam (world) in the corruptible life, renewing the life of the tzaddikim (righteous).
18
You make the Or (light) shine before the morning light upon Your creation from Your face, in order to bring the day on the aretz.
19
And in Your heavenly dwellings there is an inexhaustible other Or (light) of an inexpressible splendor from the lights of Your face.
20
Accept my tefillah (prayer), and let it be sweet to You, and also the zevach (sacrifice) which You Yourself made to Yourself through me who searched for You.
21
Receive me favorably and show to me, and teach me, and make known to Your eved (servant) as You have promised me."
Chapter 18 Abraham’s vision of the Divine Throne of Glory
1
And while I was still reciting the shir (song), the edge of the esh (fire) which was on the raki'a (expanse) rose up on high.
2
And I heard a kol (voice) like the roaring of the sea, and it did not cease because of the esh.
3
And as the esh rose up, soaring higher, I saw under the esh a kissei (throne) made of fire and the many-eyed Ofanim (Wheels), and they are reciting the shir . And under the kissei I saw four singing fiery Chayot (Living Creatures).
4
And their appearance was the same, each one of them had four faces.
5
And this was the aspect of their faces: of a lion, of a man, of an ox, of an eagle. Four heads were on their bodies, so that the four Chayot had sixteen faces,
6
and each one had six wings: from their shoulders, and from their sides, and from their loins.
7
With the wings which were from their shoulders they covered their faces, and with the wings from their loins they clothed their feet, and with their middle wings they stretch out straight flying.
8
And as they were finishing singing, they looked at one another and threatened one another.
9
And it came to pass when the mal'ach (angel) who was with me saw that they were threatening each other, he left me and went running to them.
10
And he turned the face of each Chayah (Living Creature) from the face which was opposite to it so that they could not see each other's threatening faces.
11
And he taught them the Shir HaShalom (Song of Peace), saying that everything belonged to the Adon Olam (Eternal One).
12
While I was still standing and watching, I saw behind the Chayot a merkavah (chariot) with fiery Ofanim . Each Ofan (Wheel) was full of eyes round about.
13
And above the Ofanim there was the kissei which I had seen. And it was covered with esh and the esh encircled it round about, and an indescribable Or (light) surrounded the fiery people.
14
And I heard the sound of their qedusha (holiness) like the kol of a single man.
Chapter 19 Elohim Discloses to Abraham the Celestial Powers
1
And a kol (voice) came to me out of the midst of the esh (fire), saying, " Avraham (Abraham), Avraham !"
2
And I said, " Hineni (Here am I)!"
3
And He said, "Look at the levels which are under the raki'a (expanse) on which you are brought and see that on no single level is there any other but the one whom you have searched for or who has loved you."
4
And while He was still speaking, behold, the levels opened, and there are the Shamayim (heavens) under me. And I saw on the seventh raki'a upon which I stood a esh spread out and Or (light), and dew, and a multitude of mal'achim (angels), and a power of the invisible Kavod (glory) from the Chayot (Living Creatures) which I had seen above. But I saw no one else there.
5
And I looked from the altitude of my standing to the sixth raki'a.
6
And I saw there a multitude of incorporeal spiritual mal'achim , carrying out the orders of the fiery mal'achim who were on the eighth raki'a , as I was standing on its suspensions.
7
And behold, neither on this raki'a was there any other power of other form, but only the spiritual mal'achim , and they are the power which I had seen on the seventh raki'a.
8
And He commanded the sixth raki'a to remove itself.
9
And I saw there, on the fifth [level], hosts of kochavim (stars), and the orders they were commanded to carry out, and the yesodot (elements) of aretz (earth) obeying them.
Chapter 20 The Promise of a Seed
1
And the Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty One) said to me, " Avraham (Abraham), Avraham !"
2
And I said, " Hineni (Here am I)!"
3
And He said, "Look from on high at the kochavim (stars) which are beneath you and count them for Me and tell Me their number!"
4
And I said, "Would I be able? For I am but a man."
5
And He said to me, "As the number of the kochavim and their host, so shall I make your zera (seed) into a company of goyim (nations), set apart for Me in My lot with Azazel ."
6
And I said, " Adon Olam Shaddai! Let Your eved (servant) speak before You and let Your fury not rage against Your chosen one.
7
Behold, before You led me up, Azazel abused me. Why then, while he is now not before You, have You set Yourself with him?"
Chapter 21 A Vision of Sin and Paradise: The Mirror of the World; Answer and Creation; Chosen People and Peoples of Azazel
1
And He said to me, "Look now beneath your feet at the raki'a (expanse) and contemplate the creation which was previously covered over. On this level there is the creation and those who inhabit it and the olam (age) that has been prepared to follow it."
2
And I looked beneath the raki'a at my feet and I saw the likeness of Shamayim (heaven) and what was therein.
3
And I saw there the aretz (earth) and its fruits, and its moving ones, and its spiritual ones, and its host of men and their spiritual impieties, and their justifications, and the pursuits of their works, and the tehom (abyss) and its torment, and its lower depths, and the perdition which is in it.
4
And I saw there the sea and its islands, and its animals and its fishes, and Livyatan (Leviathan) and his dominion, and his lair, and his dens, and the olam which lies upon him, and his motions and the destruction of the olam because of him. [cf. Job 40:25]
5
I saw there the rivers and their overflows, and their circles.
6
And I saw there the Etz Eden (tree of Eden) and its fruits, and the spring, the river flowing from it, and its trees and their flowering, and I saw those who act righteously. And I saw in it their food and rest.
7
And I saw there a great am (people) rav (multitude) of men, and women, and children, and half of them on the right side of the portrayal, and half of them on the left side of the portrayal
Chapter 22 The Fall of Adam (Man) and its Sequel, Righteous and Sinners; The Two Portions
1
And I said, " Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty One)! What is this picture of creation?"
2
And He said to me, "This is My will for existence in design, and it was pleasing to Me. And then, afterward, I gave them a command by be'Kevodi (My Word within My Glory) and they came into being. And whatever I had determined to be had already been previously depicted and stood before Me in this, as you have seen, before they were created."
3
And I said, "O Adon (Lord)! Shaddai (Mighty) and Olam (Eternal)! Who are the people in the picture on this side and on that?"
4
And He said to me, "These who are on the left side are a multitude of tribes who were before and who are destined to be after you: some for mishpat (judgment) and din (justice), and others for revenge and perdition at the ketz ha'olam (end of the age).
5
Those on the right side of the picture are the people set apart for Me of the people that are with Azazel . These are the ones I have destined to be born of you and to be called Ami (My people)."
Chapter 23 Fall of Man
1
“Look again at the picture: who is the one who seduced Chavah (Eve), and what is the fruit of the tree."
2
And you will know what will happen, and how, to your zera (seed) among people in the last days of the olam (age).
3
And what you cannot understand, I shall make known to you what was pleasing to Me and I shall tell you the things kept in My lev (heart).”
4
And I looked at the picture, and my eyes ran to the side of the Gan Eden (garden of Eden).
5
And I saw there a man very great in height and terrible in breadth, incomparable in aspect, entwined with a woman who was also equal to the man in aspect and size.
6
And they were standing under a tree of Eden, and the fruit of the tree was like the appearance of a bunch of grapes of the vine.
7
And behind the tree was standing, as it were, a nachash (serpent) in form, but having hands and feet like a man, and wings on its shoulders: six on the right side and six on the left.
8
And he was holding in his hands the grapes of the tree and feeding the two whom I saw entwined with each other.
9
And I said, “Who are these two entwined with each other, or who is this between them, or what is the fruit which they are eating, Shaddai Olam (Mighty Eternal One)?”
10
And He said, “This is the reason of men, this is Adam , and this is their desire on aretz (earth), this is Chavah (Eve).
11
And he who is between them is the Impiety of their pursuits for destruction, Azazel himself.”
12
And I said, “Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty One)! Why then did You adjudge to this one such power to destroy humankind by his works on aretz (earth)?”
13
And He said to me, “Hear, Avraham (Abraham)! Those who desire evil and whom I have hated as they are doing these [works], over them I gave him power, and [he is] to be loved by them.”
14
And I answered and said, " Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty One)! Why did You will to do so that evil is desired in the lev (heart) of man? Since You are angry at what was willed by You—who does a bad thing according to Your design?"
Chapter 24 Answer and Sins of Heathens
1
And He said to me, "Such is the near future of the goyim (nations) of peoples which are set apart for you after you from your progeny, as you will see in the picture, what is destined to be with them.
2
And I shall tell you what and how it will be in the last days.
3
Look now at everything in the picture."
4
And I looked and saw there what had been in the olam (world) before.
5
And I saw, as it were, Adam , and Chavah (Eve) with him, and with them the Evil Adversary and Cain , who acted lawlessly because of the Adversary, and the murdered Hevel (Abel), the perdition brought and given to him through the Lawless One.
6
And I saw there fornication and those who desired it, and its defilement and their jealousy; and the esh (fire) of their corruption in the lower depths of the aretz (earth).
7
And I saw there theft and those who hasten after it, and their din (judgment) of retribution {that is—of the great court}.
8
I saw there two bare-headed men against me and their shame and the harm against their fellows and their retribution.
9
I saw there desire, [and] in its hand the head of every kind of lawlessness and its torment and its dispersal committed to perdition.
Chapter 25 Sins of Israel
1
I saw there the likeness of the idol of jealousy, as a likeness of a craftsman's [work] such as my father made, and its statue was of shining copper, and a man before it, and he was worshiping it;
2
and [there was] a mizbe'ach (altar) opposite it and youths were slaughtered on it before the idol.
3
And I said to Him, "What is this idol, and what is the mizbe'ach , and who are those being sacrificed, and who is the sacrificer, and what is the beautiful heikhal (temple) which I see, art and beauty of Your Kavod (glory) that lies beneath Your kissei (throne)?"
4
And He said, "Hear, Avraham (Abraham)! This heikhal and mizbe'ach and the beautiful things which you have seen are My image of the sanctification of the Shem (Name) of My Kavod , where every tefillah (prayer) of men will dwell, and the gathering of kings and prophets, and the zevach (sacrifice) which I shall establish to be made for Me among My people coming from your progeny.
5
And the statue you saw is My anger, because the people who will come to Me out of you will make Me angry.
6
And the man you saw slaughtering is he who angers Me. And the sacrifice is the murder of those who are for Me a testimony of the close of the judgment in the end of the creation."
Chapter 26 Free Will and Predetermination: Why Sin is Permitted
1
And I said, " Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty One)! Why did You ordain it to be so? Take back these testimonies!"
2
And He said to me, "Hear, Avraham (Abraham), and understand what I tell you, and answer whatever I ask you.
3
Why did your father Terach (Terah) not listen to your voice and abandon the demonic idolatry until he perished, and all his house with him?"
4
And I said, " Adon Olam Shaddai ! Evidently because he did not will to listen to me, nor did I follow his deeds."
5
And He said to me, "Hear, Avraham ! As the will of your father is in him, as your will is in you, so also the will desired by Me is inevitable in coming days which you will not know in advance, nor the things which are in them.
6
You will see with your own eyes what will be with your zera (seed).
7
Look at the picture!"
Chapter 27 Destiny of Yisrael and Destruction of the Temple
1
And I looked and saw, and behold, the picture swayed, and a am goy (heathen people) went out from its left side and they captured those who were on the right side: the men, women, and children.
2
And some they slaughtered and others they held with them.
3
And behold, I saw four hosts coming to them. And they burned the heikhal (temple) with esh (fire), and they carried away the kodashim (holy things) that were in it.
4
And I said, " Adon Olam (Eternal One)! The people You have received from me are brought away by the multitudes of peoples.
5
And some they are killing and others they are holding as gerim (sojourners). And they burned the heikhal with esh, and they are capturing and destroying the beautiful things which are in it.
6
Adon Olam! If this is so, why have You afflicted my lev (heart) and why will it be so?"
7
And He said to me, "Listen, Avraham (Abraham), all that you have seen will happen because of your zera (seed) who will provoke Me, because of the idol and the murder which you saw in the picture in the heikhal ha-kin'ah (temple of jealousy).
8
And it will be as you have seen."
9
And I said, " Adon Olam Shaddai (Eternal Mighty One)! Let the evil works of impiety now pass by, but make mitzvot (commandments) in them! Since You can do more than the just works of this [ —]! “
10
And He said to me, "Rather, the time of din (justice) will come first with the tzedek (righteousness) of melachim (kings).
11
And I shall adjudge to them with din those whom I earlier created in order to rule thence over them.
12
And from those [kings] will come men who will trouble them, as I made known to you and you saw."
Chapter 28 How long?
1
And I answered and said: “O Gibbor (Mighty One), El Olam (Eternal One), hallowed by Thy gevurah (power)! Be favourable to my petition, for this hast Thou brought me up here—and show me. As Thou hast brought me up to Thy height, so make this known to me, thy ahuv (beloved one), as much as I ask—whether what I saw shall happen to them for long?”
2
And He showed me a multitude of Amo (His people), and said to me: “On their account through four issues, as thou sawest, I shall be provoked by them, and in these My retribution for their deeds shall be accomplished. But in the fourth outgoing of a hundred years and one hour of the age—the same is a hundred years—it shall be in misfortune among the goyim (heathen/nations) but one hour in rachamim (mercy) and contumely, as among the goyim.”
Chapter 29 Destiny of Yisrael and A Righteous Man and the End of the Age
1
And I said: “O El Olam (Eternal One), Gibbor (Mighty One)! And how long a time is a sha’ah (hour) of the Olam (Age)?”
2
And He said: “Twelve years have I ordained of this Olam ha’Resha (ungodly Age) to rule among the goyim (heathen) and in thy seed; and until the end of the times it shall be as thou sawest. And do thou reckon and understand and look into the picture.” And I stood and looked, and behold, I saw a man going out from the left side of the goyim (heathens). And there went out men, women, and children, from the side of the goyim, many hosts, and they worshiped him.
3
And while I was still looking, there went out those from the right side, and some insulted this man, and some even struck him, and others worshiped him.
4
And I saw that as they worshiped him, Azazel ran and worshiped him, and having kissed his face, he turned and stood behind him.
5
And I said, “O El Olam (Eternal One), Gibbor (Mighty One)! Who is the man insulted and beaten, who is worshipped by the goyim (heathen) with Azazel?”
6
And He answered and said, “Hear, Avraham! The man whom thou sawest insulted and beaten and again worshipped—that is the relief, Yeshua (Salvation), which the goyim will grant to the people who proceed from thee, in the acharit ha’yamim (last days), in this sha’ah shtem-esreh (twelfth hour) of the Olam ha’Resha (Age of Ungodliness).
7
But in the twelfth year of My final Olam I will set up this man from thy generation, the Mashiach (Anointed One), the chosen one, whom thou sawest issue from My people; this one all will follow, and such as are called by Me will join, even those who change in their counsels.
8
And from thy progeny will arise a people set apart for Me. And in that day, I will raise up for My people a Ro’eh (Shepherd) who will lead them in righteousness.
9
And those whom thou sawest emerge from the left side of the picture—the meaning is: There shall be many from the goyim who set their hopes upon him, even the people of Azazel who have turned from their wickedness and recognized the Emet (Truth). And those whom thou sawest from thy seed on the right side, some insulting and striking, others worshipping him—many of them shall be offended at him; those who insult and strike him are those from your own zera (seed) who will reject the Beriyt (covenant) and the Mitzvot (commandments).
10
He, however, is testing those who have worshipped him of thy seed, in that sha’ah shtem-esreh of the Ketz (End), with a view to shortening the Olam ha’Resha.
11
And Azazel worshiping him signifies that at the Ketz ha’Yamim (End of Days), the Adversary himself will be forced to acknowledge the sovereignty of Adonai, and he shall be cast into the Tehom (Abyss).
12
And I said, “Adon Olam El Shaddai! Show me what will happen to those who insulted the man.”
13
And He said, “Look now at the picture.”
14
And I looked and saw ten plagues descending upon the aretz (earth) in the last days: Dever (pestilence), Ra’av (famine), Cherev (s word), Chayyah Ra’ah (wild beasts), Shechin (boils), Barad (hail), Arbeh (locust s), Choshech (darkness), Dam (blood), and Kol Elohim (the voice of God).
15
And I saw the Malach ha-Mavet (Angel of Death) passing through the hosts of the impious, and none escaped. And I saw a great Kissei Din (Throne of Judgment), and the books were opened, and the Tzaddikim (righteous ones) were separated from the Resha’im (wicked ones).
16
And the Resha’im were cast into the Esh Olam (Eternal Fire) prepared for Azazel and his mal’achim (angels).
17
And the Tzaddikim entered into Gan Eden (the Garden of Eden), which is the place prepared beforehand for them, and they ate from the Etz ha’Chayyim (Tree of Life) and rested from their labors.
18
And then shall Tzaddikim of thy seed be left in the number which is kept secret by Me, hastening in the Kavod (glory) of My Shem (Name) to that place;
19
and they shall live and be established through zevachim (sacrifices) and gifts of tzedakah (righteousness) and emet (truth) in the Olam ha’Tzaddikim, and shall rejoice in Me continually.
20
And they shall destroy those who have destroyed them, and shall insult those who have insulted them.
21
And of those who defamed them they shall spit in the face, scorned by Me, while they (the righteous) shall behold Me full of joy, rejoicing with My people, and receiving those who return to Me in teshuvah (repentance).
22
See, Avraham, what thou hast seen,
23
And hear what thou hast heard,
24
And take full knowledge of what thou hast come to know.
25
Go to thy heritage,
26
And lo! I am with you le’olam (forever).
Chapter 30 The Punishment of the Heathen and the Ingathering of Yisrael
1
But while He was still speaking, I found myself upon the aretz (earth). And I said: “O El Olam (Eternal One), Gibbor (Mighty One)! I am no longer in the kavod (glory) in which I was while on high, and what my soul longed to understand in my heart I do not understand.”
2
And He said to me: “What is desired in your heart I will tell you, because you have sought to see the ten plagues which I have prepared for the goyim (heathen), and have prepared beforehand at the passing over of the sha’ah shtem-esreh (twelfth hour) of the aretz.
3
Hear what I divulge to you, so shall it come to pass: the first is pain of great distress;
4
the second, conflagration of many cities; the third, destruction and pestilence of animals;
5
the fourth, hunger of the whole world and of its people; the fifth, destruction among its rulers, destruction by earthquake and the sword;
6
the sixth, multiplication of hail and snow; the seventh, the wild beasts will be their grave; the eighth, hunger and pestilence will alternate with their destruction;
7
the ninth, punishment by the sword and flight in distress; the tenth, thunder and voices and destructive earthquake.”
Chapter 31
1
“And then I will sound the shofar (trumpet) out of the air, and will send Bechiri (Mine Elect One), having in him all My power, one measure;
2
and this one shall summon My despised people from the goyim (nations), and I will burn with esh (fire) those who have insulted them and who have ruled among them in this Olam (Age).
3
“And I will give those who have covered Me with mockery to the scorn of the coming Olam; and I have prepared them to be food for the esh of She’ol (Hades) and for ceaseless flight to and fro through the air in the underworld beneath the aretz —the body filled with worms.
4
For on them shall they see the tzedakah (righteousness) of the Borei (Creator)—those, namely, who have chosen to do My will, and those who have openly kept My mitzvot (commandments), and they shall rejoice with joy over the downfall of the men who still remain, who have followed the elilim (idols) and their murders.
5
For they shall putrefy in the body of the evil worm Azazel , and be burnt with the esh of Azazel ’s tongue;
6
for I hoped that they would come to Me, and not have loved and praised the strange el (god), and not have adhered to him for whom they were not allotted, but instead they have forsaken the mighty Adon (Lord).
Chapter 32 Prophecy of Exile, Return from the Vision, and Covenant Renewal
1
“Therefore hear, O Avraham, and see! Lo, your seventh generation shall go with you, and they shall go out into a strange land, and they shall enslave them, and evil-entreat them as it were a sha’ah (hour) of the Olam ha’Resha (Age of Ungodliness). But the nation whom they shall serve I will judge.”
2
And it came to pass when I saw these things, the mal’ach (angel) who was with me took me by the right hand and said, “Avraham, it is time for you to return to your dwelling place.”
3
And I said, “My adon (lord), let me remain here a little longer to see the fullness of the Kavod (Glory) of the El Olam (Eternal One).”
4
And he said, “You have seen all that is appointed for you to see. Now return, for the cycle of your life must be completed, and you shall gather to your fathers in Shalom (peace).”
5
And the mal’ach descended with me on the wings of the birds, as we had ascended, and set me back on the aretz (earth) near the mizbe’ach (altar) at Moriah. And I found the esh (fire) still burning on the mizbe’ach, and the two birds still bound there. And I offered the zevach todah (sacrifice of thanksgiving) and worshiped the Adon Olam.
6
And the kol (voice) of Adonai came to me, saying, “Avraham, I have heard your prayer and have seen your faithfulness. Therefore, I will bless you and multiply your zera as the kochavim (stars) of the Shamayim (heaven), and they shall possess the gates of their enemies. But My people will wander in exile because of their sins, yet I will not forget My Beriyt (covenant). And at the end, I will send the Mashiach (Anointed One) from your seed, and he will gather the dispersed of Yisrael (Israel) and establish the Malchut Elohim (Kingdom of God) forever.”
